I picked up a generic for Tiazac and the generic is dark green. Is this a safe generic? I can't find out anything about it on the internet. ## I really can't tell you anything about it or confirm what it contains just from the color of the tablet, I'm sorry. It is actually the markings on the tablet that tell us what it is. Did you get it from a licensed U.S. pharmacy? If so, then there shouldn't be a problem, as they are only allowed to supply you with FDA approved generics. original perscription for Cardizem 1st generic given diltiazem er 240mg cap last refilled with diltiaz cd 249/24 is this all the same med? ## Yes, they are all the same medication, 240mgs of Diltiazem in a controlled release formulation that's meant to be taken every 24 hours, they are just manufactured by different companies. Even the abbreviations mean the same thing, though they look different. The ER stands for extended release and the CD is for controlled dosage, but both designate that it is a time released formulation of the medication. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started taking above subject drug for blood pressure & a-fib several months ago. Now, the last 2 weeks I have very loose bowels early morning, Then it goes away til the next morning. No stomach gas pains, etc. But I'm concerned about this. ## Have you consulted your doctor? Usually, when you start a medication that side effects hit their peak at around 4 to 6 weeks of use, then start to taper off. So, if you have been on it for several months, there is a chance that the medication may not be causing the problem. However, only your doctor is going to be able to help you get to the root of the problem and discover what is causing it.

How long does it take for the side effect of reddening of the body due to widdening of small blood vessels to go away when the drug is discontinued ## It really depends on how long you were taking it, it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month, or so. Some gentle massage and increasing your activity levels might help, if you're doctor approves of you doing such. Are there any questions or comments?

At one time I was on Tiazac 360 er and then the pharmacy put me on Diltiazem 360. The Tiazac 360 er is more economical than Diltiazem 360 er. I wanted to switch back to Tiazac 360 er. I have 5 refills left, and I asked the girl at the pharmacy and she said that I would have to have a new prescription. I thought that both of these were generics and I do not understand why I would have to have another prescription. The Tiazac works just as well as Diltiazem. Thanks for your help! ## Hi Dave, Tiazac is actually a brand name of Diltiazem; but I too find it odd that they would make you switch off of something that's working just fine without giving any specific reasoning behind their decision. Instead they just say "here you go!" and that's that. I personally prefer brand nam...

What is the difference between diltiazem CD, diltiazem XR and diltiazem ER? Can you refer me to a website where I could research this information? ## There is no difference, it's just different abbreviations for the same thing, a time released version of the medication, some places will us CR, ER or XR, there is no definitive way that it has to be done. Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension and angina. You can read more here: Do you have any other questions? ## Not quite true. These are indeed all timed release versions of diltiazem, but they all use different drug delivery systems and are released into the body at different rates. My Dr is reducing my diltiazem from 120 twice a day to once a day, and says he is concerned about this water retention. I am on Jed's for the water retention and I am concerned that my heart rate will go bonkers. ## I am concerned that by reducing my daily dose of diltiazem (120)twice a day to just one dose of 120 will cause my heart to go back into Afib.the doctor is concerned with the edema in my legs,he has me on a diuretic.,and has me on just once a day with the 120 dose of diltiazem.( just started).
