Dilaudid And Tylenol
42 Topics FoundI have cancer and was prescribed to take 3 pills every three hours. By mistake I took 4 pills thinking they were 1 mg and they are 2 mg. Is there anything I can do to delete the dosages? ## This medication is hydromorphone ## You can't delete a dosage, only time will take care of that. That's not an inordinately high dosage, but if you aren't opiate tolerant, it could cause problems or overdose. Did you suffer any ill effects? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## You should be just fine even though you lack any real tolerance. You have not ingested enough to cause any type of overdose. You may feel slightly woozy...
4 REPLIES Filed under DilaudidI had surgery yesterday and have been unable to sleep. Can I take dilaudid and Tylenol PM together? ## It is generally not advised, since they both can cause sedation, it could be too much for some people. The FDA warns that Dilaudid carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. It also usually causes drowsiness, as a side effect. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Filed under Dilaudid16 hours post op. Wondering if I can safely take dilaudid and Tylenol 3's. Not at the same time but every 3 hours or so as both are prescribed every 4-6 hours. For example, a dilaudid at noon a t3 at 3:00 pm another dilaudid at 6pm and so on. ## Hello, Ganeen! How are you? Yes, you can do that, as long as your doctor approaches, you'd just be staggering when you take each one. The FDA classifies Dilaudid as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Filed under DilaudidI was administered Dilaudid at the hospital last night around 6pm. Can i take tylenol 3 now? I have sickle cell anemia disease. ## How long ago were you given the Dilaudid? I'm sorry, but there is no time stamp on these posts. Can you please post back and clarify? The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications?
1 REPLY Filed under DilaudidI am taking 4mgs of Dilaudid, 2mg Xanax, 200mg Gabapentin, 75mg Doxepin and Tylenol daily. Is it safe? ## Generally most pain management doctors will not prescribe Xanax along with Dilaudid or any pain killer. They say it makes your heart slow down and they fear you may go to sleep and not wake up. I'm hoping that you are going to one doctor for all of your meds or have told the doctor(s) that are prescribing the Dilaudid and Xanax that you are taking both meds. Please be careful and don't take any extra of either med. ## Have they all been prescribed for you? Generally, the NIH warns that taking them together may cause more severe side effects than usual. Such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and respiratory depression.
2 REPLIES Filed under AlprazolamI was prescribed Dilaudid 2mg for the repair of an incisional hernia. Pain maiintenance has been a problem in as much as I cannont in the least tollerate even 2mgs of dilaudid. In the hospital was one matter. At home I was scared, felt on and off as if I were dying and very week to the point that I could barely make it to the kitchen to eat even oatmeal It would take me 10 to clean up a small kitchen spill because I was so weak. I switched to 600 mg IB and was chastised by the Advice Nurse for even considering IB and to switch immediately to Tylenol. My Question is this: Has anyone every been successful with pain maintenance with Tylenol Extra Strength or with 1/2 a 2 mg Dilaudid pill. Though sill soo afraid of Dilaudid. Thank YOU ## Dilaudid is an opiate narcotic, so it can cause dizzi...
1 REPLY Filed under Dilaudidmedium white tablet with a M that has a square around it and a 4 on the back ## Pill Image This is NOT Dilaudid, that would be Hydromorphone. This pill is a generic version of Tylenol with Codeine, it contains Acetaminophen 300mgs and Codeine 60mgs. It is manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals. ## But an easy mistake to make. Mallinckrodt does make a generic 4 mg hydromorphone tablet. It is round, white, 5/16 diameter. Imprinted with block M on one side, 4 on the other. However, the hydromorphone does NOT have a box around the M like the codeine does.
2 REPLIES Filed under DilaudidI used 8mg of subutex yesterday approximately 10 in the morning. It is now 4:20 in the afternoon the following day. When can i take dilaudid again and feel its effects? ## @mammonal, From what I could gather online, it'll likely depend on how long you've been using either medication for. However due to Buprenorphine's long half-life, most comments I've seen suggest waiting at least 3 days or more before interchanging between the two (basically until you feel the onset of withdrawals). This period of time should allow you to get the most out of your Dilaudid when you do end up taking it. I hope this helps! ## I have been clean for 6 months. Today, (Thursday) i took what i thought was tylenol for a headache but it turned out to be an 8mg subutex. I have a drug panel on Tue...
7 REPLIES Filed under SubutexI've been taking 2-4 norco 5-325 almost daily for about 3 months. I have large cysts on my ovaries along with endometriosis and adanonmyosis. I'm in pain about 3 weeks out of the month. I'm having surgery on Thursday the 11th to remove the cysts and one ovary and burning the endometriosis tissue. I ran out of pills a few days ago and of course my doctor is on vacation and not responding. My friend has hydromorphone left over from a old surgery/ injury but what I've read says not to take it before surgery. I'm having some withdrawal symptoms and I'm worried the withdrawal will affect the surgery but I'm worried about taking themy before surgery also. I'm in a lot of pain and plain tylenol is not helping. ## I think in this unique situation it would probabl...
2 REPLIES Filed under DilaudidI am allergic to Vicodin and Percocet so for my last 2 surgical procedures have been prescribed 4mg oral Dilaudid. I understand that it is a very powerful pain reliever but I get minimal relief from it so is it possible that my pain receptors are not responsive to this type of medication? The only other pain med that I take is Lodine (NSAID) for arthritis. It seems that I get more pain relieve from 2 Tylenol but am still in alot of pain with that. Both times after surgery I have stopped taking the Dilaudid after 3 days because I'm still in pain and on top of that constipated. Has anyone had this same minimal response and any suggestions on other pain meds I could use if needed? ## Odd. I too had little relief from Dilaudid. I was in a motorcycle accident, and they gave me that after...
80 REPLIES Filed under DilaudidMy mom went to the emergency room and we think they gave her Dilaudid instead of tylenol for pain which was not in anyway severe or the reason she was there. After that she was totally knocked out and now 2 1/2 days later is in a semi comatose state. Could this be the result of being given that drug mistakenly? ## If you look on the paperwork from your E.R. room visit you’ll be able too see exactly what they did from the diagnostic to determine what was wrong with your mother to what type of medications they gave her while she was there and what they sent home with her for a prescription.. usually all doctors are very very tedious about what they prescribe elderly people and what is age-appropriate also with the opioid epidemic that is going on the crisis with people becoming addi...

Pain down legs lower back lower abdomen What can I do? I cannot take Tylenol products or NSAIDS ## Hello, Mpathia! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. What have you tried to prevent this issue? More specifics would help with me being able to make suggestions and provide information. Thanks! ## Greetings, If you haven't already, go online & order stool softener laxatives from Amazon! I've b...
3 REPLIES Filed under Oxycodonei need some suggestions for pain meds w out tylenol . been in percocet 10/325 for a few years . my liver tests wewe high so gotta avoid tylenol. i got tramedol doesnt help. ## Hi, Becky! How are you? There are actually many that don't contain Acetaminophen. Oxycodone is available by itself in quite a few different dosages. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Other options include Morphine, Opana and Dilaudid. Learn more Morphine details here. Learn more Opana details here. Learn more Dilaudid details here. These are all narcotic opiates, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What else has your doctor suggested?
1 REPLY Filed under PercocetIs it possible to get the codeine without the Tylenol and or is dilaudid a better than Tylenol w/codeine? ## Yes, Codeine is available by itself, with the Acetaminophen/Tylenol. Dilaudid, however, is a much stronger analgesic. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes, you CAN get straight Codeine(anytime you can get a med w/o Tylenol, please do so as it's less damaging to kidneys)& this way YOU can control the amt of acetaminophen you injest. As for which med us better? That all depends on your need for pain relief AND what your Dr. recommends. I'm in stage IV kidney diseas...
2 REPLIES Filed under TylenolI've been taking dilaudid 4mg once sometimes twice a day. At the end of the month when I run out, if I take a couple of Tylenol and codeine will it help till I get my pills? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? It may help, a little, but it is not equivalent to Dilaudid, so it will not be an adequate long-term replacement. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. For example, it takes 1.12mgs of Codeine to equal each 4.5mgs of Dilaudid. Is there anything else I can help with? ## As per my original post, I've been taking 4mg of Dilaudid for a year (two a day). Will oxycodone 5mg help with withdrawal?
2 REPLIES Filed under TylenolHello I just had a injury took a bad fall at home Scapula and clavicle are fractured and the place between the lung and ribs there is a Excessive fluid they call it (pleural effusion) they been pumping it out the last five days looks more like blood than fluid also I have 4 broking ribs my question is on dilaudid this is my 1st time taking it I get a 4 mg shot every four hours it helps but only for the 1st couple hours then I am back in pain for the next two they are going to be releasing me from the hospital and then I will be switching to tablets which I have been told will not affect the body the same way is there anything that can be done about the situation.also I have been taking Tylenol three for years and have become kind of immune to them which I think makes my body tolerance t...
1 REPLY Filed under DilaudidMy wife has liver and pancreatic cancer. She has pain in her stomach as well as indigestion. Will Vicodin work better than Tylenol or is there something better? ## Hello, Kip! How are you and your wife? I'm sorry that she's in so much pain. The Vicodin is actually stronger, so if her doctors has prescribed it, she may want to try it, instead. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, there are also many other medications that she could try, such as Oxycodone, Opana and Dilaudid. All of which she could ask her doctor about. They carry the same risk and cause most of the same side effects as what I've already listed. NIH lists these, as well a...
1 REPLY Filed under VicodinI want to know if they have done something different to the Tylenol 3 to make people say they are comparable to hydrocodone 500/325 and why would my stomach not handle the codeine in the Tylenol 3s but the hydrocodone doesn't upset my stomach ## There is no 500/325 Hydrocodone, did you mean 5/325? No, they have not done anything different, but some medications work better for some people than others, which is why there are usually multiple choices available in any given drug class. For example, when given Dilaudid in the hospital, it gave me a severe headache every time, however, it is what they often use in the ER for people that come in with severe migraines. That said, that can also apply to the side effects, while Hydrocodone doesn't bother you, the Codeine in the Tylenol 3 ...
1 REPLY Filed under Tylenolround white thick outlined M on one side and the number 2 on the other side ## Could you please tell me if 4mg Dilaudid is anywhere near close to being the same medication as Tylenol #3?? I'm severely allergic to Codeine & want to make sure I'm not in danger of having an anaphylactic reaction if I take the Dilaudid. Please help!! ## This tablet is manufactured by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 2mgs of Hydromorphone, which is a generic for Dilaudid. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. It is much stronger than Codeine. While it is a different medication, that does not mean that someone might not also discover they are allergic to ...
2 REPLIES Filed under TylenolLaws are crazy in FL. I just moved to Tampa from Pinellas County. Because my doc is in Pinellas county, I can't get the medication filled in Tampa. Because I moved to Tampa, I can't get the medication filled in Pinellas county. This is nuts! Also, I can't find a pharmacy that can order it in, even if I go to my old (where they know me) CVS in Largo, FL because there is some kind of shortage. This is absolutely ridiculous. I have been taking this medication for years due to Fibro-myalgia. It works and it doesn't pollute my liver with Tylenol, aspirin, or NSAIDS. Please help me find a pharmacy that carries, the generic, the name brand or the extended release Exalgo 12 mg. ## Ok..first, I have an EXTENSIVE background with pain medications. I have been on them for a broken b...
