I have been using Nexpro 40 'capsules' for the last 5 years. I am female and 70 years old. Can I use Nexpro 40 'tablets' instead, as my pharmacy has tablets instead of capsules? ## Yes, they are interchangeable, so you can take either one. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, flatulence, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

My prior prescription said I could take without regard to food. The new one said take on an empty stomach. Both are 180 mg. ## Based on information I've gathered, Cardizem CD is just another brand name of Diltiazem XT (as they both contain the same active ingredient). Diltiazem is said to be the generic version, however both medications are reported to come in a 24-hour sustained-release capsule. Other than that, the only other differences may be that they are manufactured by separate companies, and possibly contain a different set of inactive ingredients, otherwise known as fillers. Some of these fillers may be a determinant as to whether or not is it best to take the pill on an empty stomach versus having it with food. For future reference, other brand names of Diltiazem include t...

Some people do better and get better results from on or the other. Oxy is also available by itself in tablet or capsule form from 5mgs to 30mgs, Instant Release, and from 10mg to 80mgs in a controlled release form, as well as the forumulations that couple the instant release Oxy with Ibuprofen, Aspirin, or Acetaminophen. What's the difference between Verapamil HCL ER 240mg (blue and yellow capsule) vs Verapamil ER 240mg (turquoise capsule)? ## Hello, Tee! How are you? There is no difference, going by what you've listed, they are the same medication, the HCL was just not included on the label of the one. It stands for Hydrochloride and designates the specific chemical salt the medication is derived from, but they don't have to list it on the label. Otherwise, these have just been manufactured by different companies. Verapamil is classified by the FDA as a calcium channel blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything...

Is there a difference between the white tablets- WESTWARD 785 and the green capsules that say Lannett 1552 on them? Butalbital/aspirin/caffeine- 40/325/50 - I take 2 tablets and my headache goes away, the green capsules two of them and I throw up, so I'm scared to take them. Butalbital is discontinued anyhow, so now I have nothing to take for a headache. Any alternative that hasn't been discontinued out there as effective as Westward 785 white tablets are? Thanks. ## Hello, Debbie! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you've been having. There are two possible reasons that the capsules might have made you ill, though the tablets did not. The first is due to how fast the medication hits your stomach, when you take the tablets, you have to digest them with stomac...

Is there a difference between the drug Diltiazem 120mg taking tablets or capsules? ## Wow! Here was a really personal question, and I can't wait to see answers. I started taking 30 mg tablets three times a day for a total of 90 mg. When 120 mg capsules became available, I was switched to one a day. That dosage controlled my tachycardia well for some time, but then I was diagnosed with a defective aortic heart valve, and I rejected replacement, preferring to risk failure rather than accept the negative aspects of replacement. After continued control of tachycardia for a year or more, the episodes increased, and since I maintained refusal of valve replacement, my cardiologist, with some trepidation, increased the diltiazem to two times a day for a total of 240 mg a day. The episodes a...

Pharmacy recently changed my generic 5 mg / 325 pills. The original capsule-shaped, white, U15 imprint (Aurolife pharma llc - pill search result) to a round, white, 512 imprint (Mallinckrodt inc - also pill search result). The "new" pill also has "APAP" on the label; I can't say for certain the original (U15) had that designation, though it may have. The "new" pill makes me feel "differently", and not in a good way. Before I speak with my pharmacist, I wanted to understand why or how they might cause this difference. ## Both of the tablets you've mentioned contain 5mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen, so they are the same. APAP is just medical speak for Acetaminophen, so that's not anything different or new. This is a narcotic analges...

It makes my stomach hurt worse, what's the difference between this pill and Prevacid ## Hello, Jean! How are you? Prevacid contains the active ingredient Lansaprazole. The capsule in question is listed by Apotex as containing 40mgs of Omeprazole, which is a generic for Prilosec. Both, however, are the same type of medication. The FDA does list stomach pain as being a possible side effect of these medications, along with nausea, dizziness and flatulence. So, it could be that the Omeprazole is causing you more side effects than Prevacid did. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just wanted to add that my doctor also said you can not take all medicines out of their capsules as it can be very dangerous to do this with certain drugs but I was fine doing this with amoxicillin. Always check with your doctor or pharmacy beforehand. I would imagine you could transfer into a veggie capsule. ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? Yes, you are correct and so were your doctors, but to clarify for anyone curious, the difference lies between whether or not a medication is time released. If it is, then opening the capsules, or crushing the tablets could defeat the time release and may result in your getting too much medication at once, which could result in an overdose. And some medications, such as high potency potassium supplements can be very, very harsh on the stomach, so the...

does methadone come in capsule form, are they red and white with no numbers? ## No, there is no Methadone in capsule form listed in the U.S. prescription databases that I can find. Learn more Methadone details here. If there were, it would have to have some type of marking, according to U.S. law, to enable its identification. I'll double check my findings, but I find it very unlikely that this is any type of prescription product. What led you to believe it was Methadone? ## Does methadone come in a compound? is there a difference between the oxy-IR 5 mg pills vs. the capsules. I have a bad reaction to the pills but not the caps. Thanks. ## What type of reaction did you have? There can be differences in generic medications, they are allowed to differ, in the active ingredient, from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20%. For most people, such fluctuations are not a problem, but some people are very sensitive and can experience problems. In addition, the chemical salts also do not have to be exactly identical, so if the manufacturer of the pills used one that is slightly different, that could also have caused your problem. Are there any other questions?
