Will this drug raise your sodium level or cause problems for someone on blood presssure medications? Can it cause a problem with your kidneys? ## The sodium in the name just refers to the type of chemical salt it is derived from, so no, it will not raise your sodium levels. However, Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and, as such, it is generally not advised to be used by people with high blood pressure, because it can cause fluid retention, which may lead to congestive heart failure. Has your doctor advised you to use this?

I just took 2 diclofenac sodium 75mg at the same time. Since only one doesn't work at all. Could that hurt me? ## Hello, Turquita20! How are you? Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. It also carries some risks, such as causing stomach damage, increasing the risk of bleeding, causing liver damage or liver failure, so it is very important that you not take more than your doctor has prescribed. Doubling up once likely isn't very risky, but only your doctor can say for sure. It would be best to inform them, as they may want to run some blood work to check your liver function and clotting factor. Is there anything else I can ...

Curious if anyone had headaches while taking this. My Dr put me on this after being on Mobic. I am getting headaches - just curious as to what your Dr changed your meds to. I have pain in my hip and groin from arthritis. ## Yes! I was prescribed this same drug for my bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome until I can have surgery. I just did a google search to try and see if this is a known side effect. I'm getting some raging headaches! I think I will call my doctor and ask if there is another pain reliever I can take. ## I just got put on this for possible post thrombotic syndrom and it's giving me killer headaches. All I can find online is how it's supposed to cure them... ## The irony of NSAIDs is that while they are often used to relieve headaches, they can cause a headache a...

I have been retaining fluids more than usual since I have been taking this med. ## Hi ann, It is true that Diclofenac's side effects may also be contributing to the fluid retention. I posted a list of a few of them below for your own reference: diarrhea constipation gas or bloating unexplained weight gain swelling of the eyes, face, tongue, lips, throat, arms, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000882/#a689002-sideEffects To help with fluid retention, I would also recommend staying away from foods that are high in sodium: (particularly frozen/packaged foods, as they usually contain well...

My doctor prescribed me this because I might have a tear in my meniscus. Diclofenac 75mg -2 times a day. My question is do I have to space it out by exactly 12 hours ? Or is it just a general idea? How serious would it be if I took it 8-9 hours later instead? Like say I was on my way to bed but messed up my morning dose time . Do I wait until the next morning ? ## Hello Kris, I hope you are having a wonderful day. First I want to ask exactly what the instructions on your medication states. If it says to administer your medication twice a day but does not specify a time frame then you may be able to take it 8-9 hours apart. If it does say specifically on the administration medication that you should take them 12 hours apart I would suggest doing so, or at least as close to that time fram...

i am taking 75mg of diclofenac twice a day. How safe is this drug. the internet says it is the most dangerous of all nsaids. Is this true at this dosage? ## Hi Roger, From what I could gather, the usual adult dose of Diclofenac ranges from 25-50 mg orally 3 to 4 times a day or 75 mg orally twice a day. Diclofenac Extended-release dosages are usually administered at 100 mg orally once a day. A number of webpages also make a point of mentioning that the maximum daily dose of Diclofenac is: 225 mg; or 200 mg if you're taking the extended release version. In my opinion, 75mg twice daily (150 mg total daily dose) should be fine for most individuals. However, dangerous side effects can happen with any drug depending the person. It's probably not something you'd want to take long t...

According to the available interaction information, there shouldn't be any severe issues with taking the low-dose aspirin and the Diclofenac, but it is still always possible for them to cause issues in certain people. can this medication cause hilousinations? ## Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. So no, it shouldn't cause hallucinations, that's not a normal side effect, those would be things like nausea, headache, dizziness and stomach irritation. However, it could possibly occur if someone was having an odd reaction to it, or if they took extremely high dosages and were in active overdose. Learn more Diclofenac details here.

i have strep throat and i was givin a shot that doesnt seem to be working. i have some of these pills left over from when i had a problem before i was wondering scence they are an anti inflamitory if they would help with the shot of pin that i got or if it would mess with it. so is it safe to take even though i got the shot? ## Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it would only help with pain and not the infection. However, without knowing what was in the shot they gave you, I cannot possibly answer your question. I would need the name of the medication to check for any problems or possible interactions between it and the Diclofenac. Can you post back with this information?

I have inflammation in my back and was taking a pill called Cataflam 50mg but it does not work and still hurts. Can I take a cti 103 (Diclofenac Sodium 75mg) pill instead? Is Cataflam 50mg weaker than Diclofenac Sodium 75mg? ## Hi Evenlyn, Sorry to hear about your back condition. I hope you feel better soon! To answer your question, in short, yes, 50mg is weaker than 75mg. Cataflam is simply another brand name of Diclofenac; so it's pretty much the exact same thing at a different dosage, albeit the suffix is potassium with Cataflam instead of sodium as with the common/standard Diclofenac (& I'm not certain as to whether either mineral makes any notable difference in bioavailability/potency). As to whether or not you can take 75mg instead of 50mg, that's entirely up to yo...

How does diclofenac sodium enteric-coated (ec) 75mg tab compare to a percocet 5/325? Does it work the same and is it a narcotic / opiate? ## No, Diclofenac is actually classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, it is used to treat pain, fever, and swelling. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and stomach irritation. So it also does not work the same. Has your doctor prescribed it for you? ## I need to know if Diclofenac Sodium Er 75 mg has Morphine in it? ## Hi Shaw - actually no, Diclofenac is its own drug completely different from Morphine. It is not even an opiate medication. Hope this helps!

I have been taking diclofenac sod 75 mg ec tab twice a day for about a month, for arthritis in my ankle. It helps early in the day, but does not last until the next pill is due. Same with the one I take in the evening, and when I get up in the morning I can barely walk. Is it possible for these to be prescribed 3 times per day, or would the 100 mg. give me longer coverage, or ? ? ?. I'd appreciate your help. Thanks ## Have you discussed this with your doctor? Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and a higher dose won't necessarily give you a longer time of efficacy, but from what I am reading some people with Arthritis do take it up to 3 times a day, as long as they don't go over 200mgs daily. You may want to discuss it with your doctor, because a 50mg dosage taken...
