Diabetes mellitus, or simply diabetes, is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced.[2] This high blood sugar produces the classical symptoms of polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (increased thirst) and polyphagia (increased hunger). There are three main types of diabetes mellitus (DM). Type1 DM results from the body's failure to prod...

are there any small diabetic pills or powders or liquids for people who have difficulty swallowing large pills? ## Not to sway off-topic or anything but if you have type-2 Diabetes, have you ever been aware that it can actually be reversed and cured by changing your diet? There has been scientific evidence for a while now, demonstrating how Diabetes type 2 is caused by an excess of fat in the bloodstream, which then causes unstable blood glucose levels, an over-production of insulin,
and an over-working of the pancreas. The simple approach that is suggested is to eat a very low fat diet that is high in "natural" sugar and moderate amounts of protein. This ideally comes from eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, with the occasional nuts and seeds. I wou...

Is this safe for a person with Type 2 Diabetes? I think it is loaded with sugars but cannot find any exact information about this. I think it might be the reason my sugar count has been up for the past month. I have a problem staying asleep and have been using zzzquil for the past month or so and it seems to help, but if it is keeping my sugar count high I'll have to stop taking it. ## Hello, Larry! How are you? One of the inactive ingredients is high fructose corn syrup, which could raise your sugar levels, especially if you're sensitive to it, as some people tend to be. If you need a sleep aid that doesn't contain it, the active ingredient in this is just Diphenhydramine, 50mgs per dose. Diphenhydramine is available by itself in Benadryl and its generics, as well as in pro...

Fruits to avoid, meats, fish, poultry, cereals, nuts etc. ## Hello, Alex! How are you? As reported by the NIH, the main things to avoid are sweets and high fat foods, which means you also need to watch your fruit intake. However, beyond that, there is no specific list that can be given. Carbohydrates can raise your blood sugar, but it varies from person to person how much they affect it and which ones, some people seem to tolerate certain foods much better than others. The best thing to do is to make sure you eat a healthy, well balanced diet and get lots of exercise. You should also avoid alcohol, because it can lower blood sugar and shouldn't be mixed with most medications. Is there anything else I can help with?

I'm a diabetes type 2 patient. I'm taking Insulin twice a day and Janumet three times a week. My blood sugar level is around 150, but there is no sign of improvement. My MRI test of the brain did not show any major defect. Please advise as to what I should do? ## Hello, Chandra! How are you? What types of foods do you eat? Anything sweet, including fruits, will elevated your blood sugar, even regular foods do so, but not as much as the sweets. And how much fat is in the foods you eat? Fat coats the cells, so sugars can't enter the cell wall to be burned for energy. That causes them to remain in your blood stream elevating your sugar levels, as well. The best diet for a diabetic should be low in sugars and fats, while consisting of lots of fresh vegetables and whole grains. E...

I was prescribed Ozempic for weight loss. 12 hours after taking the first dose, the fatigue and brain fog I’ve struggled with for years was greatly improved. This leaves me wondering if I may have pre-diabetes or even the beginning of Type II. Can anyone advise if having such a positive response to Ozempic could be a sign of this condition? ## I am pre-diabetic. My doctor tried to prescribe me I was Ozempic but insurance wouldn't allow it. I am on Medicaid and as with most things they'd rather wait until there's a problem then be proactive. It sounds like you had good results and so I am encouraged and if I do become diabetic it will be a big help. It's so hard to lose weight with chronic pain. Take care of yourself. Sounds like you are! ## It is possible, but only...

I have been taking this medication since august 28, 2013. It is wonderful..I have lost weight in a way I had no been able to do in the past. I have no side effects. The big problem is getting insurance companies to pay for Invokana. I am allergic to Metformin which is the medication the insurance companies will pay for. ## Hello, Joni! How are you? Have you discussed the issue with your doctor and your insurance company? Usually, there is some procedure in place to apply for a special exception to get them to cover a medication they otherwise wouldn't, if your doctor supports your need for it and files the appropriate paperwork.

I already have migraine problem. what medicine should I try for my diabetes. ## Hello, Jaiho655! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. Perhaps you should speak to your doctor about trying an insulin. Taken this med for a year, just got the word from Dr I have type 2 diabetes. did any one else develop diabetes after taking Linzess? ## Interesting. I've been taking Linzess for about 2 yrs now (145 mcg) and it has worked great for my motility problem. About nine months ago, I started having symptoms of neuropathy in my hands & feet & have had lots of testing done to no avail. However, while my glucose tolerance test came back good, I was told that something called Hemoglobin A1C was 5.7 which may indicate prediabetes. After so much searching as for why I am experiencing nueropathiv pain, I'm afraid I might end up being diagnosed with diabetes. Because I love a healthy lifestyle and diabetes does not run in my family, i've been considering the medications that I have...

Have been on Warfarin since 2002 due to DVT left leg. I have Factor5Leidon half value and therefore i am on a very high dose of Warfarin (18mg/pd). I am also a Type2 Diabetic(Insulin Dependent). I would like to change to Xarelto to allow me to use natural remedies etc to help with the Diabetes. Warfarin doesn't lend itself to being mixed with too many other products. Have discussed this with my GP and she is not keen on me changing over. She believes that there has not been adequate testing and trials for Xarelto. There are also no published papers on the effects of Xarelto with Diabetes. I would like to know more about the drug in relation to Diabetes before jumping ship from Warfarin care. ## Hello, Shane! How are you? What your doctor told you is correct, there is nothing out yet...
