I just had a mamma gram and was told everything was just fine but they were letting me know that I have dense breast tissue. So what does that mean? ## Hello, Pam! How are you? It's nothing to worry about, dense breast tissue just means that it may be a little harder for you or a doctor to detect any possible lumps in the future, or for a mammogram to see all of the tissue. You may need to be a little more diligent about doing self-exams and, when you have to have a mammogram, it may take a little longer and be a bit more involved in order for all of the tissue to be plainly seen. Dense breast tissue happens in some women naturally and in others, it can happen if they are taking hormones, either contraceptives, or HRT. I was told the same thing this year, after having mine done. :-)...

I am a healthy 60 year old. I have never smoked, rarely drink alcohol, I work out often, do strength training, swim laps three times a week, walk frequently. With all of this I am still diagnosed with Osteoporosis. I have broken both wrists and a few ribs at different times. Finally looked up the effects of Zoloft on your bones, It said you have a 76% higher chance of breaking a bone on Zoloft or other antidepressants. This is horrific. Please give me tips to get off this killer of bone density. I was put on Zoloft for PMS and have been on Zoloft for thirty some odd years and no one has ever said it will destroy my bones. Every time I try to get off Zoloft I get weepy, which is off base of who I am normally. I am a very happy person. Please help. Thanks. ## Hello LU! How are you? Have y...

A prescription will be recommended but how fast could it work at this age and I weigh 90 lbs. so thee's no fat here for protection.r ## Well, I supposed reasonable is really a matter of perspective. The perceived benefits from a medication, if it is necessary, is really going to depend on how much longer you live to take it and other factors having to do with your overall health. My dad is 83 and I have frequently told him that what he really needs to do is decide what's right for him and what he is willing to do to maintain his health. I believe that at your age, you are the best judge of what is and isn't right for you, because if you weren't, you wouldn't have lived to be 84. If you feel the test is unnecessary, then you are freely allowed to tell your doctor that...

This is a bone-density medication from Mexico. I can't read Spanish. Are there particular instruction for taking this medication? ## See the page on Alendronate - it should have the information you're looking for on this drug... ## recently purchased Apodrolen(alendronato) for Fosamax, in Mexico, is this safe to take for bone loss? ## Phyllis, please see your doctor or pharmacist to ask that question, since it is a Mexican drug, there are chances that it is impure, dangerous, or etc. Since they are not regulated like drugs in the US are, so your only safe bet would be to consult a professional who might know a little more about the med and the manufacturer. ## Since we want to do everything we can to support the US drug companies and protect their insane profits please don't...

My bone density loss was -2.6 on December 2015, but after my third shot, my bone scan came back as -2.0 and I am going for a 4th shot this month. Can you tell me how many more shots I can go for, in order to become normal? I know my doctor might not be able to tell me how long. Please give me advice. Thank you! ## It sounds like your bone density loss has improved since the third shot. Do you find that to be the case as well based on how you feel? Have you gotten your 4th shot yet? And have any bone density results came back after the 4th shot to help determine your progress? In regards to how many shots one may need in order for bone density to become normal, my conclusion based on other Prolia discussion threads here, is that there's no way to know for certain because we all respo...

I am a 57 year old female who has -2.5 bone density scores on hips and -3.4 in the spine. I used Forteo for 2 years, but because I was scared to death to try any of the biophosphates and Prolia - I lost the benefit from Forteo. It was minimal improvement at best. I had 3 different doctors in 3 different cities tell me that I should use Prolia. I had the injection on Friday, April 11th. I had put the shot off for 6 months after my pharmacy delivered it to the doctor office due to fear and all the forums. So -- if anyone wants to know information, I will keep you posted. Since yesterday, I have had itching in a variety of places and I had a tough time falling asleep last night. I also have some minor cramping in my calves and thighs. So far this is bearable, but I am trusting God to get m...

I had 4 shots of Prolia. I am not taking it any more as my last bone density test showed improvement. During the time I was on Prolia, I had a cracked molar and it had to be pulled. Now there is exposed dead jaw bone in my mouth. Oral surgeon said it was not ONJ, but at that time I had only had the problem a few months. He also treated me for an infection in the area with antibiotics. Now the exposed jaw bone has been there for the better part of a year and is not getting better. Has anyone else had this problem after dental work? Any treatments help? ## Prolia ...since April 2013... continue to experience jaw pain with difficulty eating which in-turn am still unable to put any weight back on. The rheumatologist finally accepted the fact that this medication indeed was responsible for a...
