Dehydration

My wife is using Sulphitec 2 mg daily. Lately she has started drinking too much water, so much so that she starts vomiting. In a nutshell she feels so thirsty after taking this medication that she drinks a glass of water after every ten minutes. ## Hello, Mahendra! How are you? That is very unusual, the U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including symptoms, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, somnolence, and weight gain. I think it would be best that she consult her doctor to determine exactly what is causing the problem. Many medications can cause dry mouth, but not usually thirst to that extreme. Is she on any other medications?

It really depends, it can cause diarrhea as a side effect in some people, so in that case, dehydration could be a concern, as listed by the FDA. However, conversely, it can cause lowered urinary output or urinary retention in some people, as side effects, so taking in too much fluids could be dangerous in such cases. Could Zanidip be causing leg cramps at night. I am either up with leg cramps or up to the toilet. I drink 2 lts of water a day, and if that drops even the smallest bit, the cramps get worse. I’m on Losatan Potassium 100 mg QD. I get terrible head sweats within 10 min of being in my garden. Plus very red face, dizzy head and headache. Am I dehydrated? I still have the unbalanced head and slight headache. Hi,yet another newbie here, hoping i can get some advice on buprenorphine & acid in the urinary tract.Sounds strange but for the last two years whilst being on (bups) I've had terrible pain & have also been suffering from dehydration.I have had bloods & all sorts but my Doctor,(who does not prescribe) bups & indeed is hard pushed to give me anything else,hasn't found anything wrong with me,which is exactly what he intended. it made me sick as a dog! dehydration & the trots for 3 days but after the discomfort went away i did feel a little better. was it the drug or just feeling better because the trots went away ? ## What specific drug are you talking about? There are several that start with Cym, so I can't help you with any information, without knowing more details. Was it Cymbalta? ## Verwon: That happened to my when I tried Cymbalta. I was treated for diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration. They said I have bacteria growing in my stomach and prescribed me Metronidazole and Levofloxacin. What are those for? ## These are antibiotics that are used to treat various types of bacterial infections. I have been off of 5 mg Saphris for 2 weeks. I have experience severe dehydration, weakness, dry mouth, and fatigue being off of it. I had to be treated with an IV a couple days ago because I was so dehydrated. Has anyone else ever experienced these Saphris withdrawal symptoms? I am especially concerned about the severe dehydration. ## How are you ending up so dehydrated? Are you urinating a lot, vomiting, or have diarrhea? There has to be some underlying cause, even though it may be due to the withdrawal. To become dehydrated, you have to be putting out more fluid than you're taking in, as explained by the NIH. I took one dose, 1 1/2 hrs later, vomiting, diaherra, sweating alot. Ended up in ER with dehydration, and hypothermia, temp @ 93 degrees. I'm guessing the sweating gave my hypothermia, since it's mid summer. Doc tried saying it was probably stomach flu. I got sick taking this med before, just not to this extreme. Apparently if my temp dropped more, I could of been in real trouble. ## Sorry about what you've been through, that's very rough. And I have to say that I am really not surprised. Though it isn't common, some people do react this way to some antibiotics. why d5imb is given to a child patient who has acute infectious diarrhea with some dehydration? ## To help with the dehydration and prevent it from getting worse. They have to give continuous fluids, since it is the lack of them that causes the dehydration. A warning: Took 145 for 3 days and ended up with a 2 litre min BM of mostly water plus dehydration and low sodium levels on day 4. ## Unfortunately, that is a possible side effect, it works too well for some people that take it. The FDA lists its other side effects as possibly including nausea, stomach pain, headache, and bloating. Ref: Linzess Information How are you feeling, now? Have things improved?

What are the side effects of Furosemide? ## As with many diuretics, Furosemide can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, including loss of potassium, calcium, sodium, and magnesium. It is especially important to prevent potassium loss. Excessive use of Furosemide will most likely lead to a metabolic alkalosis due to hypochloremia and hypokalemia. It should be used with caution in horses with liver problems or electrolyte abnormalities. Overdose may lead to dehydration, change in drinking patterns and urination, seizures, GI problems, kidney damage, lethargy, collapse, and coma. I have been on Jardiance for several months. I recently began to suffer from dehydration, and received two liters of fluids earlier this week. The day after, I went back to an insatiable need for H2O and frequent urination. While I only occasionally experienced the dizziness and shortness of air, it has become more frequent, especially today. It seems to be accompanied by leg weakness. I have associated these symptoms with the Jardiance. Does anyone know how long it will take to get out of my system? ## What dosage were you taking and how long were you taking it? This contains Losartan and Hydrochlorothiazide, so the pain could be due to a side effect or due to dehydration, since the Hydrochlorothiazide removes excess fluid from the body. thank u so much. ## This is really something that can be given via IV for many different reasons, such as treating or preventing dehydration, which is why it's considered balanced, it replaces or ensures that the person gets the proper amount of electrolytes.
