I Have used the prescription Deconamine PSE 120-8 Caps since 1983. It is the one med that has given me relief from my sinus and lung congestion. I was told by Pharmacy that it is no longer available. Please tell me that is not true, and where I can get my prescription filled? Right now today my sinuses are raging. ## This medication contains Chlorphemiramine and Pseudoephedrine. I cannot locate Deconamine SR capsules anywhere! Is it still possible to obtain this medication, and if so, where can I find it? It is the only medication that works for my post-nasal drip. ## Unfortunately, the original manufacturer sold the medication off to another company, who then cranked the price out of reach for almost everyone. I suppose they planned on ceasing production of the medicine, and needed a "lack of sales" to justify it. In our area, it went from $12/month to $88/month, which put it out of our reach. The removal of the drug has nothing to do with the drug addicts making illegal drugs from it. The drug was made before 1962 and fell under the FDA grandfather clause so it did not need FDA approval. So the drug was actually an unapproved drug being sold in the US. Recently, the FDA has cracked down on the sale of unapproved drugs and ordered it off the market with a list of hundreds of other drugs. As this drug worked perfectly for me also, I wish the maker would go ahead and submit the NDA and get it back on the market. Why can I no longer get the Deconomine SR from my pharmacy? It is still being mfg. blue and yellow capsule, antibiotic ## I actually believe Kenwood 181 is a cold & allergy medicine called Deconamine SR which contains Chlorpheniramine and Pseudoephedrine. ## According to Kenwood Pharmaceuticals, James it correct, it is a cold and allergy remedy. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia, and dry mouth. Are there any questions I can help with?

It seems the drugie in US are ruling what what kind of drugs can be made here. I take Deconamine and can no longer get it, Because it was used for making meth. HOW crazy is it that we can not get the only drug that helps a medical problem, BECASUE OF SOME DRUGIES USE IT TO MAKE THERE DRUGS. This is crazy. ## Yes, it's because of the Pseudoephedrine in it. However, it has not been completely banned in the US, it has just been moved behind the pharmacy counter, so you must specifically ask for it. since I can no longer get this medication, I would like to know if there is a subsitute that works. ## Is deconamine available anywhere? If not, is there an effective alternative? I was switched to Allegra D over a year ago for allergies and have had 4 sinus infections since, despite sinus surgery.
