Dark Urine

The urine in the overnight container is very dark. During the day it appears to be the normal color. Broke my small toe 8 days ago and didn't see a doctor. Could there be an infection there being filtered by my kidneys? ## It's very difficult for anyone to try and guess what's going on from just the limited information in this post. Have been prescribed Jointace DN 1 tab/day for 60 days. Taken 9 days. Showing good effect. But from day 1 my urine is dark yellow like turmeric (darker than usually due to B complex). Could not contact the prescribing doctor who is in another city. Should I continue or stop the treatment? ## I am taking Jointace Dn for the last 5 days. I stopped taking after 12 days and on the last day my feces turned white. They are still white 10 days later with severe itching and dark urine. Went to ER for cat scan and all is normal except elevated liver functions. GI doctor says this reaction can last a very long time. Any advice? ## Hi Marsha, What medication are taking? I have an urostomy then I had a kidney removed and the urine was clear. Now I am on a Fentanyl 25 mg patch and oxy ir 5 mg taken every 6 hours. I have been taking Lamictal ffor only 4 days so far. On the 3rd day, in mid afternoon, I started having pinkish color urine. As the day went on, the color of my urine got darker and darker until late evening it was a darker red. By 11pm, my urine was a dark red but I went to bed. Went I got up the next morning the urine was a normal color until about noontime it started a light pink color. As the day went on, my urine would turn from a light pink to a darker red by the time I went to bed. This morning I did not take the Lamictal because I wondered if this medic ation was causing the blood in my urine. My girl friend is suffering from TB , was diagnosed a lil over a month ago. After starting her dosage with AKT-4 kit her urine has turned orange everytimes she pees also when she takes a s*** its black ! Eating habits are healthy but still this has continued. I take Flecainide twice daily and have just increased from 50 mg to 100 mg twice a day. I am experiencing blood in urine but have no kidney of bladder infection. I am currently taking Cymbalta and Oxycodone. In the mornings on several occasions when I urinate it is very dark brown. Could either of theses medicines cause this? The imprint is actually 801, it's manufactured by Acella Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 100mgs of Phenazopyridine, which is used to alleviate the pain from urinary tract infections. It is available via prescription, or over the counter. The FDA page on it lists its typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, headache, discolored urine, and upset stomach. dark urine since taking 500-125? ## Hi David, Abnormally-colored urine is actually noted to be a severe side effect of Amoxicillin. In this case, it may be a good idea to consider contacting your doctor about switching antibiotics or opting for a more natural alternative to Amoxicillin. I believe there are some other natural antibiotics out there that could be just as effective, however, without the side effects. The only suggestion I have would be to eat a very clean diet consisting of fruits and veggies and alkaline water. This may help your body to rid itself of the leftover medication faster. I was prescribed doxycycline for syphilis. I've been taking it for a little over a week. The sores in my mouth are gone and my urine isn't dark anymore. A few days ago I started noticing my shoulder and neck are stiff and sore. Then my vagina started to itch. The next day I had discarge and I kept thinking there was hair in my mouth and my tongue was turning white. Apparently its called hair tongue? Started taking nuvigil 250 mg 2 weeks ago. Today noticed bloody stool is this a common side effect?
