Does anyone know if Cromolyn Sodium is still available or whether or not it has been discontinued? ## Hi Bill, According to my research: "The maker of Intal, King Pharmaceuticals, has discontinued manufacturing the inhaled form, "Cromolyn Sodium inhalation aerosol", due to issues involving CFC-free propellant. As stocks are depleted, this inhaler preparation will no longer be available to patients. In the EU it is manufactured without CFCs by Sanofi-Aventis, although it must be imported from Canada for USA residents." Cromoglicic acid (Cromolyn) is however available in multiple forms (other than the inhaled form), so I would consider asking your local pharmacy about the availability of those other options if you can't find this one anywhere. I was on Azmacort for 20 years, and now am forced to take Symbicort or Advair which both contain LABA and have been causing some asthma related deaths. Neither one control my asthma like azmacort did. It is a sad story that they have out-lawed CFC inhalers because they harm the environment. Actually, it's quite a laughable situation when it come right down to it. A very survival of the fittest law, I do believe, because hundreds of thousands of people are suffering. The HFA inhalers are a joke and one has no real rescue inhalers. I'm sure it all comes down to the good old mighty dollar which is always at the expense of human life or human quality of life.
