Cyproheptadine Side Effect

My 7 year old has been on it for about 4 months now. She recently started complaining about her back and abdomen hurting. I'm trying to find out if it's side effects from this drug? ## Those aren't listed as typical side effects, according to NIH studies, but there's no way to say how any given medication will affect anyone that tries it, especially a child. Is she on any other medications? Has anything else changed in her diet, or activity levels recently?

I have just started this medicine,and I can say this is finally what I have been looking for. Monday was my fist day tring it, and it been a week, and I have goon from 95 to 98 im only a week. Can a nursing mother take cyproheptadine? ## Hello, Rose! How are you? From what I've found, yes, it can be taken, but the FDA reports that some nursing infants have experienced irritability and drowsiness, when exposed to such medications via the breastmilk. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. Has your doctor prescribed it for you?

Is Periactin safe to increase weight? Is that effect permanent weight gain or only as long as i take it? ## Periactin, which contains the active ingredient Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine, normally used to treat allergies. And, just like any medication, it does have risks and side effects, so no, just using it in attempt to gain weight is not considered safe. It can cause an increased appetite in some people, which sometimes causes them to gain some weight, however, it is usually not significant and the effects don't continue, when someone stops the medication. In addition, any method of gaining weight artificially, that doesn't involve a healthy diet and exercise can have severe detrimental effects on your health. In your son's case, you shouldn't give him anything, without his doctor's approval. His health is still very fragile and the slightest misstep could be a disaster. What other medications is he taking? How far underweight is he? The FDA classifies this medication as an antihistamine and its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. ## I gained weight from taking the pill. But everyone is different. I don't think it would hurt to try, they will make you drowsy. But that will go away in time.

I have been taking this for about 5 months now and I love it. I have always been small, around 105 pounds. I am at 129 now and loving it. It has increased my breast, and my butt and legs. Be careful because it will (the weight) will go to other places like your arms and stomach. Once you first start taking it, my experience is that it will make you SO Sleepy but once your body gets use to it the sleep will wear off. I'm 17 and the doctor told me I had gallstones, and so I've literally been eating foods with no fat, non greasy, and it caused my weight to deteriorate dramatically. I wasn't pleased at my weight at all. And so I did some research and found out about periactin bin on the pill for a month and the results are amazing!!!
