Is it ok to cut a v 48 11 in half? And also will it be ok to do normal activities after I take a half? ## Anyone??? ## Come on ## Hi kay, Usually if there is a score line (divid) embedded into the tablet, it means the manufacturer purposely made it so patients could easily cut it in half. Since this particular tablet is scored, I would personally feel safe doing so. Regarding your concerns about doing normal activities afterwards, there's really no way to know ahead of time how this medication is going to effect you (since it really can effect each person differently). Taking half seems like a good place to start though, if you want to assess how your body reacts/responds to a smaller dose of it, before committing to the full amount. Some people may feel like their abilities to perf... ...

oxycodone 15 mg-can I cut in half for half dose
1 Reply RSS
I need to know if I can cut my 15mg oxycodone pills in half (they are light green with 15 on one side and M in a box on the other side). The pills are scored, which makes me think that I can safely cut them in half. I don't want the full 15mg dose, would prefer only 7.5 by cutting in half if possible. ## Yes, this is a regular release Oxycodone, the generic for Roxicodone, so you can safely cut them in half. The only time it isn't safe is if a medication is time released, or there are instructions specifically saying not to do so, because some medications can cause severe stomach irritation and other problems if released too fast, such as Potassium tablets. You may experience side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Read more: Are there any questions o... ...

I'm taking 5 mg of oxycodone 2x's a day. Can I split the pink oxycodone 10 mg hcl k 56 in half and use up extra tablets that I have in hand? In other words, I don't think these are extended release tablets so it should be okay to split them. Input appreciated. thanks. ## Hello, Allan! How are you? Yes, the only time released one available are the name brand Oxycontin, so this is a regular release tablet which can be cut in half, unless your doctor or pharmacist gives you some reason not to do so. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Verwon: Thanks for the response. This confirms what I thought. I'm ... ...

15 mg oxycodone doctor

Hello, I live in Waldorf Maryland I was seeing a wonderful doctor until he passed away. I was getting 90 30mg pills until I changed it to 120 15mg. ( I know what your thinking but I didn't want to have to cut it in half when I needed less ). Because of all the crap associated with anyone taking an narcotic I'm having an extreme issue with finding another doctor. For years I saw this sweet old man and filled them in the office pharmacy I had no idea there was this much of a stigma about the pain drug and the people that take them. If anyone knows of a doctor that I could talk to that dose not give people the run around. ## HI, Gail! Sorry about the problem that you're having. oxycodone 5 milligrams
2 Replies RSS
does anybody know how much a 5 milligram oxycodone cost ## Hi da! Off the streets, usually a dollar per milligram. Cheaper by prescription. ## @da, Based on my research, a quantity of 30 oxycodone 5mg pills from the pharmacy may cost an 'estimated' $20 (cash out-of-pocket) without the presence of insurance or savings cards. However, discount cards tend to make these tablets a lot cheaper when you go the legal route; often times cutting the cost in half. So that may be something to factor into consideration if you are getting them from a retail pharmacy. You might even want to call them up first just to verify the total before moving forward. I hope this helps! ...

Help, Seeking new Doc in NJ (Middlesex/Monmouth County areas) I have been going to a pain mgmt. doctor who was giving me oxycontin ER 40mg twice a day and 10mg Percocet 4 times a day for breakthrough pain. They have cut my meds in half in the last 2 months, I have always taken meds correctly and never had a dirty UA. My levels were always good. I have bulging and herniated discs and am in a lot of pain. They are cutting everyone down on meds because of over medicating some patient etc.. (and now everyone pays). I want to find new pain doctor who will give me what I was originally taking does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks for the help. please get back to me with suggestions. White Oblong Pill cut in half

It is blank on other side. There is a score mark. Someone said hydrocodone another said oxycodone. ## Are there any markings on it, or just the score? If there are no markings, it can be ruled out as being a U.S. manufactured and approved prescription medication, because they are all required to have markings to enable their identification. However, it could be any one of a large number of over the counter products and there is also a small chance that it could be a foreign medication. Op 20 Pill Pink - cutting in half?
2 Replies RSS
Is it possible to at least cut these in half in order to take a lower doseage? ## These are time released tablets and, even though they have tried to formulate them to prevent it, cutting them in half could still result in your getting too much of the medication released, at once. The Oxycodone in this is a very potent narcotic analgesic and getting too much at once could be very dangerous. If you require a lower dosage, you should contact your doctor, as they can prescribe them in a lower amount. Are there any other questions? ## I have cut these into quarters with no adverse affects. So it is basically become a 5mg dose. I like these because they do not contain acetaminophen like most other narcotic prescriptions. So one pill can last me up to 2 days. ...

I was on oxy's for 4 years and then I switched over to morphine sulfate 60s. AT one time I was on 14- 30mg oxycodone a day. When my doctor retired and I went to a pain center they immediately cut my dosage in half. At that time he started me on 100mg MS 2x a day. Now I'm completely off oxys and only take 2- 60mg MS a day. Looking back I realize the only reason I took the oxys was for that initial high and warm feeling. ## I'm very sorry about what happened to you, but am glad you've found the right medication to help you. MS Contin is a time released formulation of Morphine, so it's designed to slowly be released in your body over a period of 12 hours. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea... ...

Can someone tell me if Someone takes 2-30 mg Oxycodone IR and 60mg Oxycontin ER are they same and dispensed the same into your body if you would cut the ER in half? They have made a mix up in her pills so now she will run out of the 30 mg tablets her doctor is 2 hours away and she has to have a driver take her there and that would be me and I am sorry I really do not have the time this week to do it. So I was wondering if she is used to these amounts and trust me she has been in chronic pain her entire life since a child what would be the difference. I was just prescribed this med as Previously I have been on 5/325 oxycodone x4 daily. ( for 3 years now) I cut them in half for 7.5 dose as prescribed for breakthrough pain x3 daily. I also take 200mg Ultram ER. once a day. Will this new med react differently in my system? Last longer or shorter term relief? Dr changed due to the apap and liver concerns. ## If you have been taking Oxycodone already, your reaction and side effects really shouldn't be any different, though since it is a higher dosage that you are getting all at once, since it's immediate release, they may be more pronounced. Such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. It also should last about the same amount of time, it just releases the medication faster than the regular release tablets that you were t... ...

Oxycontin OP Duration 40mg Cut in Half
8 Replies RSS
Given the protective qualities of the new Oxy OP, if you cut, say a 40mg tab in half, does it still release the drug slowly? I noticed there is no warning label on the bottle saying do not chew. In other words, given the new formulation, if cut in half does it still retain its slow release quality? ## Retaining their time release properties, even if someone tries to cut them in half, crush or chew them is exactly how they are supposed to work. However, it is still not recommended that you alter your dosage, without your doctor's approval. Oxycontin contains the very powerful narcotic Oxycodone. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Learn more: Are there any questions or comments? ## I have taken one 80mg oxycontin and 1/2 of an 80mg (I cut an ... ...

Cut a 10 mg oxycodone in half. It did have a score line down the middle. I feel fine, but never doing it again. Will I be ok? ## Hello, Adam! How are you? If it's the time released formulation Oxycontin, then no. That creates the risk of your getting too much of the medication, at once and puts you at risk of overdose. If I take 2 of the 30 mg oxycodone and I have the 60 mg oxycontin. Can you cut a 60 mg oxycontin in half and take it that way to get the immediate effect you get with taking 2 of the 30 mg oxycodone. I have to mail order my medications and there was a mix up and I have been taking for 15 years for chronic pain. Just trying to get by without going 2 hours to my dr to get a written script and then it would mess up my scripts again!! Thanks for the help. ## Hello, Susie! How are you? No, the new Oxycontin are actually tamper proof, so they prevent anyone from being able to do that. If you cut them up, you will just get a ball of goo that still releases the medication just as it should. However, there could also still be a risk of getting too much, at once, and suffering an overdose. This i... ...
