I am losing weight with Creon why? ## creon and weight loss ## This contains Pancrelipase, which is a pancreatic hormone that is used to treat people who have pancreatic conditions, or cannot digest food normally. According to NIH studied, if you are not digesting food properly, weight loss is an expected side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, and stomach pain. Has there been any change for either of you? Are either of you on any other medications? What do your normal diets consist of?

Activas Patient Assistance Program does not offer any assistance while in the coverage gap. Creon manufacturer does offer assistance while in coverage gap. Has anyone used a drug discount card successfully when purchasing either Zenpep or Creon? The card instructions indicate that it can help during the coverage gap.

I was just diagnosed with stones in my pancreas (non cancer, whew!). They are causing my pancreas to not digest all my foods and are ordering Creon to take 3 with every meal and 1 with each snack for the rest of my life (I am a young 71). Has anyone taken it and what can you tell me? As of yet the pharmacy has ordered it and I'm not sure of the cost but saw that 90 pills were retailed at 700.00. I do have Medicare, Anthem Blue Cross and United Healthcare for prescriptions with a Walgreens plan. Appreciate any and all info. ## I have been on Creon 36,000 lipase. I have chronic pancreatitis and all the hospitalizations eventually broke down my own enzymes. That is why I take the Creon. I typically don't have many problems but sometimes Creon causes a bloated feeling and general we...

Yes, all non-approved pancrelipase drug products have stopped being manufactured and being sold to wholesalers and pharmacies because of FDA quality control guidelines which went into effect on April 28, 2010. Only 3 approved agents are now being sold: Creon (Abbott), Zenpep (Eurand) and Pancreaze (Ortho-McNeil Pediatrics). Older products will eventually be out of stock at the pharmacies as supplies run out and not being replaced with new product. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for help, or view the 3 approved products websites, which are the drugname.com or companyname.com. Hope this helps. ## This is correct, they have forced many companies to stop selling unapproved products until they are submitted for testing. This has created a shortage of some products. ## You appear very knowledg...

Got the abdeks multivitamin bubblegum tablets at walgreens. I think it's a generic Source CF.. the wholesale info is on their site. Has anyone else tried this? ## I got the libertas multi with ABDEK through CF services Pharmacy 800.541.4959. The bubblegum chewables are closest to source CF and less expensive than aquadeks. Our friend also said these are available free of charge on creon care forward program ## This is one multivitamin I haven't tried yet. I'm curious to know what the specific list of ingredients are and what sources they might be derived from, if either of you happen to have that information?... I've personally been drawn to Garden of Life "raw whole food" multivitamins to try and get them as close to their natural state as possible. I hear that ...

I went to pick up my husband's pancrelipase and the pharmacy said it was discontinued by the manufacturer. Is this true? I know it is a generic for pancrease but it's more expensive and he is a pancreatic cancer survivor and has to take these for life. Can you please tell me if this is true? ## From the information I am finding, yes, this product has been discontinued, but no reason has been given for why this was done. The only thing I can suggest is talking to the pharmacist or contacting his doctor for an alternative. I have no idea what they prices are, but there are a few other brands on the market that contain the same ingredient, such as: Cotazym, Creon, Lipram, Ultrase, Zymase and several others. Please post back and let us know if you find something. ## Most of these pr...

I notice that Creon was JUST approved by FDA in April of 2009. That is odd as I have been taking it for at least 2 years with samples supplied by my doctor. Does anyone have insight on this?

would like an address to sumit a hardship request. Are there any other generics? ## There are several brands and generics available, for the prices, however, you would need to check with your pharmacy. It is likely that they are already providing you with the cheapest generic that they can order. If you have no prescription insurance, there are some programs available to help with this medication, you'd have to meet certain income criteria, as well as having your doctor send them a prescription and etc. The contact information is as follows: Abbott Creon Minimicrospheres 800-256-8918 Johnson & Johnson Panreaze Delayed Release Capsules 800-652-6227 Aptalis Zenpep Delayed Release Capsules 888-936-7371 Is there anything else I can help with?
