At least to my understanding it does not change the chemical structure of the ingredients and how your body uses them. Some people do agree that chewing a pill vs swallowing one could help it absorb quicker through your saliva. In your case however, I think if you don't want it to effect you as much, then you should simply take less of it. Maybe half a pill?
