I am a 20 year old female. 3 years ago I was diagnosed with "chronic constipation." I have a bowel movement probably 1-2 times a week. I have had 2 colonoscopies and a flex sig done, and everything appeared to be normal. I have tried every remedy there is: fruit, fiber, laxs, stool softener, enema, exercise, and nothing seems to do the trick. Recently my dr started me on Linzess. I have been taking it for 2 weeks now. So far my bowel movements have not improved while taking Linzess. I spoke with my dr and they suggested that I add miralax to my daily routine along with Linzess. I have not had any improvement with my bowel movements while taking miralax and linzess. I'm very sorry about the problem you experienced. Yes, narcotics can cause those as side effects in some people that take them, but that severity isn't common. It would be best to have it checked out by your doctor, to be sure. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. The past several times I have taken Linzess I have become extremely gassy about an hour later, but still no BMs. Does this happen to anyone else? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? Have you been making sure to take it a half hour, before eating or drinking anything else? Some doctors and pharmacist didn't inform people that it must be taken in the morning on an empty stomach, with just an 8 ounce glass of water. The gas can be a normal side effect, you may also experience dizziness, bloating and abdominal cramping. Can anyone that's on this medication chime in?

I am having severe constipation i tried every home remedy but don't feel any urge for releasing the waste . My diet and water intake is good enough but still am constipated . I am suffering from chronic constipation for the last 30 years coupled with gas problem. I have possibly all available medicines like pan -40 mg, zintec-150 mg, Razo-20 mg, some laxatives etc but of little use. Is endoscopy the only option left in my case. I too had cancer and have suffered chronic constipation... I have tried Miralax and due to the company going over the counter they gave me generic anf that did not work as well. The dosage of powder too was ovwewheminf.I have tried colon cleanses that guarantee cleansing and bowel movwments as well as deoxification. Nothing. Everything becomes impacted along with the food that has been consumed. Enemas and colonic only left me bloated and in pain.Laxatives are of no help either. Hot teas offer relaxation but no bowel movements. Castor oil offers some releif but it take 4 TBS.!!! Epsom salt makes me throw up etc etc...I have currently been given GENTILAX from Mexico. Savella has devinatley made the pain from Fibromyalgia decrease. but I am very, very constipated. Has this happened to anyone else??? ## Great to hear that this is working so well for you. Constipation is a known side effect of this medication, along with nausea, headache and insomnia. Have you tried any remedies? I have a tiny odd green color tablet, one side has a half mark and the other side has the letters SENTILAX on it. I was given this at a mexico pharmacy for constipation. ## Did you perhaps mean to say "Gentilax" as opposed to Sentilax? Gentilax is a laxative drug manufactured in Mexico; used to treat constipation. It is said to contain 60mgs of Phenolphthalein; a homeopathic agent. The oral recommended dose is one to two laxative tablets, but its capacity is adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount. I hope this information helps! ## Gentilax is definitely a laxative tablet. It does indeed have a line on the back of it that you can use to cut the tablet in half. This is useful if you need to take a dosage of a tablet and a half of it instead of two tablets.

Hello. I'm needing to take tramadol & co-codamol, but have bad constipation. Any thoughts on sticking to tramadol only maybe? Best wishes. ## You can discuss that option with your doctor, it really depends on what works best for you to alleviate your pain. However, in many cases, opioid related constipation can be alleviated by just increasing ones fiber intake through foods, or a fiber supplement. Along with the risk of being habit forming, these medications may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## You can get an over the counter stool softener or ask your doctor to prescribe one and make sure you are drinking lots of water. That should alleviate your constipation.

Am taking M357 four times/day, have constipatin with some relief should I continue the M357 ## The tablet with the M357 marking is a generic for Vicodin/Lortab, which contains 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. Since this is a narcotic pain reliever, constipation is an expected side effect and can usually be relieved by taking a fiber supplement. However, this is really a take as needed medication, since it's for pain, not something that you have to take regularly all the time. But as to whether or not you should stop it, that's something that only you and your doctor can decide. Are you new to taking this? taking linzess for 60 days. not working as well as it did in the beginning. can I take a lax. while taking linzess ## You shouldn't do so, unless your doctor approves. Are you making sure to take it on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before ingesting anything else? This medication has been kind of iffy, a lot of people have found that it seems to stop working, after awhile. How long have you been taking it? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, bloating, gas, and diarrhea. ## Does the bloated tummy go back to normal if I stop the linzenss?

I took norco for a week because I had surgery and I found that I didn't have any bowel movements and then I found that I was constipated so I stopped taking them. The last time I took one was at 8:30 in the morning yesterday 1-10-17 and I drank a bottle of magnesium citrate, a little bit of prune juice, I took stool softeners, and an enema and nothing worked until this morning 1-11-17. I haven't ate because I feel nausea. I have been drinking lots of water and some Gatorade now and all I have been doing is laying in bed because I feel weak and sick. When will I be back to normal? I am on day 5 of chantix and am having constipation. I have never had trouble with my bowels before now. I took miralax for a few days and had a little diarrhea so I quit taking it. Any tips on a happy medium so that I can get my stomach working correctly? Also, an someone give me an idea of how long it usually takes to quit completely? Why does Pristiq antidepressant cause constipation? ## That question is pretty black and white; every prescription drug has potential side effects. This would definitely be something you'd have to ask the manufacturer. Only they would know why the drug is formulated the way it is and for what advantages and disadvantages it serves by being made that way.

After taking Vivotif I have constipation and abdominal pain. No headache, no fever and no joint pain. In my experience as nurse, I have seen many patients who were constipated and/or had diarrhea for quite a while. There are natural things that work to help. First, learn about the bowels. Did you know the colon is like another brain and keeps so many things in balance in the body? It makes serotonin...the neurotransmitter/hormone that makes you happy. When food leaves your stomach, it enters your small intestine which can be 40 feet long. While there, your pancreas secretes three enzymes to break your food down (fun fact). Have you ever seen someone vomit stool? I have. So that means the 6 to 8 feet of their colon and their long small intestine were all most likely blocked up.
