I'm a stroke survivor who, post stroke, suffers from extremely irregular bowel movements sometimes going 5 days without a BM, I don't have pain or bloating, I do suffer from acne breakouts ocassionally which is kinda embarrassing for a man in his 50's. Testing provided a diagnosis of 'slow motility', i.e. part of my brain injury from the stroke affected the function of my digestive system) I was prescribed Linzess 290 mcgm daily to address this problem and to restore BM regularity. I only take the medication on Mondays and Fridays as i work from home on those days and my home office is next door to the toilet, otherwise I run the risk of a bowel evacuation at the office which would be humiliating. I take the medication on an empty stomach with a 12oz glass of water a...

Am taking M357 four times/day, have constipatin with some relief should I continue the M357 ## The tablet with the M357 marking is a generic for Vicodin/Lortab, which contains 5mgs of Hydrocodone and 500mgs of Acetaminophen. Since this is a narcotic pain reliever, constipation is an expected side effect and can usually be relieved by taking a fiber supplement. However, this is really a take as needed medication, since it's for pain, not something that you have to take regularly all the time. But as to whether or not you should stop it, that's something that only you and your doctor can decide. Are you new to taking this? In case you don't know much about it, you can learn more Vicodin details here.

I am unable to move my bowels from taking Exalgo and other opiods that I have taken for my chronic pain. I have tried taking drugs like Movantik and Amitiza that are supposed to relieve opiod constipation but they have not worked for me. Neither has more fiber, Colace, prunes, miralax etc. Anybody have any amazing remedy??? ## Very sorry about the problem you are having. I've been there, when taking opiates, but increased fiber intake helped me. Have you tried enemas, or suppositories? There are some available via prescription, and some over the counter products, since they are inserted anally, they work directly on the hardened stool. The FDA lists the typical side effects as including irritation, cramping, and diarrhea. Beyond that, you may need to go to the ER for treatment of th...

Do people having only jevity 1.5 use the bathroom as if they were eating normal food? or do they suffer constipation...and if so... what are we supposed to do? ## Jevity is a liquid nutritional supplement, since it contains iron, it may cause some consipation, as well as dark stool. Have you asked your doctor what you should do, in case you suffer constipation? Most people find relief with natural fiber products, that help with bowel movements.

Can 325mg of Aspirin & 0.25 mg of Xanax a day cause constipation? ## It could be one of the medications, a combination of both, or something entirely unrelated. Have you consulted a doctor? What have you tried for relief? Other side effects you may experience can include stomach irritation, nausea and irritability. ## I can verify that Aspirin + Xanax = Constipation because I've used this combo before and guess what? I couldn't poop until I stopped using that combo.

Hi. I'm on my second week and have lost a few pounds. I was just wondering if there are any longer term users who experienced constipation that did not last. I had pelvic surgery a few years back and a sling was needed. I am worried that the straining of constipation might mess with my sling. If anyone has had relief from constipation, I'd be interested to hear about it an if you have any suggestions. Thanks! ## Hello, Sandi! How are you? Yes, several other users have reported experiencing constipation and that it usually goes away after a week, or two, as their body gets used to the medication. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and insomnia. However, in your case, you should check with your doctor to see what you can do t...

How long does it take for the side effect of constipation from hydrocodone to wear off? I stopped taking it Sunday and now its Tuesday and there is no relief from the constipation. I feel "swollen" and my stomach is refluxing badly and I am losing my appetite. ## Hello, Jp! How are you feeling? Have you tried anything to relieve it, such as a fiber supplement? That's what I have always found to work best, when I experienced that side effect. You should also have this checked out, because that could be the sign of a serious complication. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I am going to have surgery to repair a fractured humerus and percocet does nothing to help with the pain. What meds can I get my dr. to prescribe? ## The first choice in many hospitals now for better pain relief is Dilaudid, which contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone. Learn more Dilaudid details here. It's very potent, it only takes 3.75mgs of it to equal each 10mgs of Oxycodone, which is the active narcotic in the Percocet. Just like other narcotics, there is a chance that it could be habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Has your doctor made any other suggestions? ## i think opoid drugs like tramadol and opoid related drugs can help you but addiction resuls if u take more than its dosage and duration ## I agree ...

I am currently on Opana ER 20mg twice daily, but with not much pain relief. Would a prescription of 30mg twice daily OR 20mg three times a day be reasonable? I have been in significant pain for a long time and want to get something that would make the pain more bearable. ## It really depends on you. A higher may help, but there is a chance that it might now, it could be that this just isn't the right medication for you. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Are you on any other medications?

I just got out of the ED for a major migraine that lasted days. They gave me 2-4 mg 2x. The pain went from a 9 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst pain. Got it to a 4. How long does it control the pain? I'm scared to feel the pain again. I did just take 2 10mg oxycodones. Am I protected for a while? ## Meant to say 2-4mg 2x in 3 hrs of dilaudid. ## Probably about 4 to 6 hours, though there's no way to say for sure, since much of it depends on your own body. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You should see your PCP for a preventative. Is there anything else I can help with?
