I have been on 54mg of Concerta for Major Depressive Disorder since 2010. This medication has been fundamentally beneficial to managing my depression. I am about to start trying to conceive for my first child and my dr has suggested I come off this medication for the pregnancy. I want to try this but at the same time am concerned about if I will be able to function off it. I want the best for my baby (if I'm lucky enough to fall pregnant). I wanted to hear from anyone who as come off this medication for pregnancy OR remained on it during pregnancy. I'd really love to hear what effects you experienced and if you remained on it, what effects has it had to your baby? Did you take it during breast feeding? I would be greatful for any information. Thank you

I have a 14 y/o son and a 13 y/o daughter that are both on 54 mg of Concerta and Strattera. My daughter is doing very well, but my son is not good on his meds. ## My 5 yo son was on 54 mg of Concerta and it didn't seem to be working so the doctors put him on 30 mg or ritalin and that seems to be helping a little bit but he is still very hyper and still has a problem staying on task for longer than 15 mins, but he also has bipolar disorder. I never thought that they could diagnos a child that young but i am glad that i had him tested because it is helping a little bit but not as much as I thought that it would. ## First I would like to state this is only my opinion based on personal experiences and various observations. I am not a professional by ANY MEANS. I am a 17 year old Junior ...

I have been on 45 mg of mitrazapine for about one year for depression and insomnia. For the past few months 54 mg of concerta has been added in hopes of helping my depression. I really don't feel much better and my anxiety has increased along with my patience. I feel nervous and miserable most of the time. The mitrazapine does help a bit with my sleep, but takes a few hours to take effect. When I wake up each day, I feel like I have a hangover even though I have consume alcohol in months. My son had SEVERE ADHD to the point of hitting teachers when he was 4 in preschool, so he was tried on many meds and finally placed him on 36 mg of Concerta and 1mg of Tenex for any left over aggression. When he was in 1st grade the Concerta was moved up to 54mg. Now he is almost 12 and he says he doesn't feel "normal" when he takes them (sometimes we skip weekends). What is the safest way to stop? ## Since it does contain Methylphenidate, which is a psychostimulant, there can be some problems and rebound effects, if you completely discontinue it abruptly. So, it really should be slowly tapered, to minimize the possibility of such issues occurring. Learn more Concerta details here. Have you consulted his doctor? They should be able to help you with a safe and effective taper...

Please advise the safety aspect of taking tripolene with concerta? 25mg of tripolene is taken at night. 54mg of concerta in morning. Will this produce any side effects ? ## Hello, Jill! How are you? From what I've found they can be taken together, as long as they have both been prescribed for you. However, all medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even if taken alone. The U.S. FDA lists the typical ones as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, irritability and mood swings. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 36 yr old female diagnosed with ADD 2 yrs ago. I was originally on 30mg of vyvanse and that was great. I had to stop taking it bc I was pregnant. I was put back on it a month ago after being off of it for a year and it was not the same. It only worked for a couple hrs and I lost appetite. So dr put me on concerta. This is my second day and I dont like it. It takes forever to kick in and it makes me angry and so sleepy. Will this change? Is this common? Is the dose to low or high? (34mg) I am thinking low bc I cant concentrate at all and Im tired all day. Thanks ## I'm assuming you meant the 36mg extended release tablet? That is actually one of the higher dosages, the next would be the highest daily dose at 54mgs. Since it is an extended release, it is not going to start working...

I've been on a trial of Concerta for major depressive disorder as anti-depressants alone don't work. I've gone through 26 rounds of ECT (electric shock therapy) which didn't help and being diagnosed as a medical excreter Concerta has been then only thing that has lasted long enough and helped me function. Originally I was on Ritalin, but I hated the roller coaster effects it had on me. I'd be hyper which would last for about 1-2 hours then drop dramatically, then the process would happen another 2 times as I was on 60mg a day which I would take in 20mg does 3 times a day. Eventually I was put onto Concerta 54mg once a day which was better. I've been on Concerta coming up to 4 years and am noticing a decline, however I have recently been changed to Brintellix, after

Our 17 year old is taking 54 mg of Concerta 1x a day. The past few weeks she has been/had weepy, irritable, dizzy, headaches, increased sweating, trouble sleeping and loss of appetite/nausea. She spikes with extreme anger and just seems to be much more agitated. Are these symptoms of her dose being too high? She has been on this dosage for over a year? Concerta has been given to her for almost 2 yrs. Thanks! ## Hello, Jennifer! How are you? Yes, it could be, unless you have reasons to suspect that she may be doing some other type of drug. Another alternative could be hormonal changes, she is at the right age for another shift in them to occur. Has her doctor been consulted?

Cylinder shaped pill that's the color of an advil tablet - "Alza 54" is on the tablet, wrote in black. ## just wanted to see what this is for. I found this in my floor. ## It's an ADD pill that has a time release to make it last throughout the day making it very difficult to abuse. Basically it's a really lame version of adderall. ## This is an ADHD medication, Concerta.

1/2 long, 1/4 diameter, pink, hard, capsule shaped pill marked "Alza 54". ## alza 54 is 54 mg extended release Concerta ## Very good if you actually have ADD or ADHD, but taking them without this condition may not be the best idea. They do not have any real effects, they make you more concentrated but you will get migranes the next day and will have a difficult time sleeping. I do not reccomend them for unprescribed use.

browncilander shaped pill alza 54 printed on pill ## What kind of pill is alza54? Is it a barbituate? a prescription pill? What is it used for? My son doesn't take any medicine and I found this in his room. ## This tablet contains 54mgs of Methylphenidate, a generic for Concerta, which is primarily used in the treatment of ADHD. It is a stimulant and can be dangerous if used improperly or abused. Before freaking on your son, though, it is possible that one of his friends is on it and just dropped a pill? ## Also, if you only found one I wouldn't be TOO worried. One isn't enough to put him in danger, although talking to him about it is probably wise. Staying calm though is the best way to get the truth from him.

My son takes concerta 54 and with ritalin 10 mg as a combination. He has his good and bad days. He was on the strattera and it didn't work. I have heard but bad things about that one it could be just tha one medication that is doing that. Are both dosages high that maybe it also. Or get another doctor that deals with that particular problem.
