At times, I am on Prednisone to make my joints and smooth muscles stop hurting so much. It brings the swelling down. Unfortunately, I am an insulin-dependent diabetic because of the lupus. Prednisone brings my sugar level up very very high; therefore, I can no longer use it. The biggest side effect of Prednisone besides bringing your sugar level up, is a ravanous hunger! You always want to eat, can never get enough! It causes some swelling to the joints, rash, bloating. My vet gave them to my 140 lb dog for pain in his joints. But it is a white elongated pill with a P on the left half and 100 on the right. He is supposed to take 1-1/2 every 12 hours as needed for pain. The vet has to check his liver every few months to be sure it isn’t causing any liver problems. ## I'm not sure but I think it may be carprofen (also known as Rimadyl). i sometimes get confused with my prednisone pills i am taking both 1mg and 10mg and they are both close very close in apperance and size. can i coat them by put some chocolate powder sugar so i can eliminate taking the wrong dose? what do you recommend. ## Have you asked your pharmacist for ideas? I'd think that anything that marked them, without making them damp, so they'd start to dissolve would be fine.
