yellow ## Are you referring to Klonopin, with the active ingredient Clonazepam? ## klonopin (clonazapam) is usually prescribed for anxiety disorder. Usually short term as it has addiction potential. Long term use has also been associated with muscle atrophy & Periodontal disease (due to decreased saliva) If taken daily for more than 2 weeks, you should withdraw gradually, e.g., by 1/4 to 1/2 mg. every 3-5 days. It will take an additional 3-5 days before you completely rid it from your system. Try to take only as needed in as small a dose as is affective. I have found I only need 1/3 - 1/6 of what my shrink prescribes !

My 25 yr old son has severe panic attacks how can he get a physician to prescribe this if he's on methadone for opiate addiction!!!????He s not able to keep a job because of panic attacks????Please help me get my son the help he needs!!!!??? ## Hi tina, Sorry to hear about your son's tight situation. In the end I believe it really just comes down to the discretion of the physician or psychiatrist who prescribes/recommends the clonazepam. From my experience, a psychiatrist can write up a report after an in-person evaluation, to help determine your son's true needs for this medication. If he can get a good psychiatrist that is willing to work with him, their reports can certainly convince a doctor to reconsider things for him. That may be something to consider first before app...
