Good day,My mom age 65 has a persistant coughing,and she suffers from sinus also.My mom is allergic of Asprin.The docter at the pharmacy prescribed,Broncleer.please I would like to know if theres any asprin in Broncleer with codeine cough syrup?

Does it have an expectorant in it ## Hi Jim, Neither medication is actually in the drug class of expectorants like guaifenesin. However I have seen other brand names of promethazine + codeine (such as "Phenergan Expectorant/Codeine" manufactured by Wyeth) being marketed as an expectorant. So I'm led to believe that promethazine does exhibit such effects regardless of its classification. Hope this helps!

I am taking codeine syrup taking 100 ml in a day. I was told that the company Allergan is making a codeine with promethazine cough syrup previously manufactured by actavis is this true? ## @Mike, According to Allergan's product page (linked below), they do make Promethazine HCL (6.25 mg) + Codeine Phosphate (10 mg) syrup listed under the "Actavis Rx Product Catalog" on page 27 here: allergan.com/Actavis/media/PDFDocuments/2013_US_Rx_Product_Catalog.pdf. Based on the information in that link I think you're right that the formula could've been acquired from Actavis. And for further verification, the syrup in question also carries the following National Drug Codes of 00472-1627-04 and 00472-1627-16. Does Phenergan with codeine contain any form of soy as an inactive ingredient? ## Hi Linda, Based on my research, Phenergan + Codeine (manufactured by Actavis) does not appear to contain any type of soy or soy derivatives. So you should be fine in that regard. For your own verification, this particular medication contains the following list of inactive ingredients: D&C Red #33, FD&C Blue #1, Citric acid, corn syrup, flavor, propylene glycol, saccharin sodium, propylparaben, methylparaben, sodium benzoate, sodium citrate, and purified water. Why did you take so much? Corex contains the antihistamine Chlopheniramine and the narcotic Codeine, so the types of problems you are experiencing are to be expected if you take too much of it, in a short period of time. You really do need to consult a doctor to check and see if you have harmed yourself and get proper treatment, if necessary.

I've took Cheratussin AC, M-End DM, neither even touches my cough, it's been going on for over a month and a half now! My question is whats a good cough medicine that will work? I also am prescribed 10/325 Lortab. So if there was a good cough syrup that would work if it had hydro in it, would I be able to be prescribed it since Im on Lortabs? Is Fedac syrup safe for babies? There are arguments re the medication because of a baby vomitting after being fed with it. The child's father was told by another doctor that Fedac should be given to children 2 years and above. ## I am not sure which syrup you are referring to, since there are two, however, that is correct from the information listed, none are listed with dosaged for us in children under 2 years of age. Fedac syrup contains Pseudoephedrine, Tripolidine and there is one that also includes Codeine, which is a narcotic. There is concern over adults using Pseudoephedrine and Codeine, so they are generally not recommended in children. I took 200mg codeine in cough syrup and usual .5 mg of xanax at 830. 2 hours later I had a splitting headache and took 50mg of tramadol. in pregnancy ## I cannot find a lot of information on this, except that some formulations contain Codeine as an active ingredient. Most narcotics do cross the placenta and can affect the baby, which is why some are born addicted when the mother is using or abusing such medications. Thus, it is not advisable to use them while pregnant, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so.
