I am experiencing extreme dizziness, nausea, sinustis and irritating coughing going over into ashma attacks. I have been taking Co-Protor for about 12 months now and the symptoms are getting so bad that I cannot function normally. Hardly a day goes by without sinusitis headaches and I most mornings wake up tired early in the morning because my head is so sore. I am dizzy on waking and have to gain balance when trying to get up. I am 53 yeasr old, healthy otherwise and reasonbly fit (though this is going backwards as I am too dizzy and nauseous). I have had enough, how do I get off this medication? ## Hello, Pete! How are you? I'm so sorry about how you're feeling. Is it common to gain weight when you're on Co-Pritor? I have picked up 10 kg's since I started with the High blood medication. Your advice and help would be appreciated. ## Co-Pritor contains the active ingredients Telmisartan and Hydrochlorothiazide. From what I've read on each of those individual medications, neither of them list weight gain as a possible side effect. Interestingly enough, "loss of appetite" is listed as a side effect of Hydrochlorothiazide. And from my understanding of nutrition, when you eat a lot less than you're used to having (or not eating every few hours), your metabolism can slow down significantly in response to that. Especially if you're not getting enough exercise on a regular basis either. Have you made any dietary changes or no...

I was diagnosed for hypertension, i was administered pritor plus 40mg. my bp went down but as day goes by, i'm feeling weak...what seems to be the problem..thank you ## Have you contacted your doctor? There are actually several possibilities for what could be causing your symptoms. Pritor Plus contains Hydrochlorothiazide, which is a diuretic, it helps treat hypertension by removing fluids from the body, along with Telmisartan, which is an ARB. That means that the first possibility is that your symptoms could just be due to side effects from taking it, it can cause nausea, drowsiness and dizziness. The second possibility is just your body adjusting to the lower blood pressure, when you're used to running high, it is normal to feel such effects, when it's brought down. The th...

I am 61 and are using co pritor 80mg & Fedeloc for the hypertension and I have constant pain at my right hand side upper gum and it triggers pain. My dentist indicated that it can be sinus, and another opinion from a professor of a Dental Faculty say that according to x-rays there is nothing wrong with the gum. Can this medication be the reason for my gum pain. ## Hello, Abe! How are you? No, pain from these medications would be more prone to being generalized body aches or headaches, not centralized to just a small area like that. Have you consulted an ENT? I'm on heart medication (Inegy, Pritor, Cardicor, and Ecotrin) and am now suffering from terrible aching of all my joints. Is this a side effect of Hydrochlorothiazide and Telmisartan? ## Hello, Celeste! How is your mother doing? My Mother is 96 y.o. diagnosed of Chronic Stable Angina, of AODM at age 80 with essential hypertension. She has a recent episode of lung infection treated with decongestant and antibiotic. She is on multiple meds. such as Vastarel MR, Pritor Plus, Simvastatin, Neurobion, Minidiab. At such age could these meds. be cut down gradually to substitute with alternative therapy?
