I have received 300mg clindamycin for exudative tonsillitis. I was told to take 4 a day for 10 days. I am on day 2 and have yet to feel any less pain. My throat is very inflamed and my voice is gone. How long does it take for the pain to start going down? ## Hello, Syd! How are you feeling? Has there been any change, yet? The general rule for antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening of your condition after taking them for a full 24 hours and you should start to see improvement after taking them for a full 3 days. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

Hi, I was prescribed clindamycin 300mg for dental abscess and percocet 5-325mg tab, but I can't keep any food down. I was going to drink an extra strength Alka Seltzer to see if it would help with the upset stomach. Is this OK to mix? It is the antacid tabs diluted in 4oz water. Thanks ## Hello, Jen! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between them, but it's always best double check to be sure. Both the antibiotic and the narcotic can cause nausea and vomiting as side effects, you may also experience dizziness, drowsiness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea, as listed by the FDA. The Percocet also carries the risk of being habit forming. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I take Clindamycin 300mg to treat bronchitis? ## Hello, Bruce! How are you? Yes, this is an antibiotic that can treat various bacterial infections, so it's fine if your doctor prescribed it for you. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, if your doctor hasn't prescribed it, then you shouldn't take it, because many cases of bronchitis are caused by viruses and antibiotics will have no effect on them. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I read my bottle wrong and I've been taking clindamycin every 4 hrs when I was supposed to take it 4 times daily. Will I be ok?

My tongue turned black but no more symptoms. 16.12. 13 I had the next gum OP and was given the same medication. I had slight stomach problems on the 5th day and when I the course was finished, on the 6th day hell broke lose: diarrhea, stomach cramps, I felt very low in energy, slept a lot. On the 24.12.13 I went to the pharmacist and was told that I should haven taken a stomach protector as Clindamycin 300 mg is a very strong doses, especially in connection with anti-inflammatory medication. The dentist says that protector was not necessary as I had no previous stomach or intestine problems. End-January when the protectors given to me by the pharmacist did not really work, I went t...

I took Clindamycin 300mg cap 4x/day for 10 days. I still have an abcess on my neck (caused possibly from ingrown hair and my picking?). The lump has gotten much smaller, from large ping-pong to regular grape, but never came to head, and when i originally asked the doc about cleaning it out, she said we will see if this works first. I'm not happy i took such a risk and then read that these type of "cysts" cannot receive the antibiotic because they are closed off. ....etc. I finished pills yesterday. Will it continue to work like other antibiotics I've taken? I'm not sure when I should go back to the doc. ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? Yes, it can continue to work for a few days. Can I take Clindamycin HCL 300MG if it expired on 4/26/14? Thank you. ## Hi Dea, While some antibiotics like tetracycline can become toxic after they expire, my findings lead me to believe that Clindamycin doesn't and should also be fine having only been expired for 9 months. According to mhra.gov.uk, Clindamycin has a shelf life of 15 months. There's also an article in the LA Times Newspaper (which you can find online) stating that researchers from the California Poison Control System, UC San Francisco and UC Irvine did a study investigating a variety of old drugs and concluded that many of them are still ok to take even up to 28-40 years after the listed expiration date! That said, I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as it was stored properly and not lef...
