I'm having to switch from minocycline to amox/clav for a skin infection. I've heard that minocycline can reduce the effectiveness of amox/clav. How long do you have to wait after taking minocycline to start amox/clav? ## That interaction is a risk when they are taken together, according to NIH reports. My husband is wondering if HE can get a yeast infection while taking Amoxicillin/Clavulanate with potassium. Also Wonder why is there potassium in this antiobotic? ## Many antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I wouldn't go so far as to single one out over another as to my knowledge they can all be premature causes of yeast infections depending upon how each individual responds to the drug. Regarding the addition of potassium, Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium is actually just a more potent version of the original Amoxicillin. I'm not completely sure how this addition effects the way the drug is absorbed, but if your husband is really concerned about a yeast infection I would strongly suggest looking into natural alternatives, such as essential oils (oregano, thyme, clove, c...

I was wondering if it is going to be ok for me to mix oxy with my antibiotics for Strepp throat. It is a 125mg of Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium combined. I'm small, if it makes a difference. I am on day 4 of this 10 day antibiotic and have started noticing symptoms of a yeast infection. I'm wondering if I can take monistat 1 or 7 while on the prescription or if I should call my doctor and wait till after I'm done. ## Yes, you can use Monistat, unless your doctor feels you should not do so. But many women get yeast infections from antibiotics, so they are often advised to use it, or their doctor will prescribe something to help prevent one from occurring, such as Fluconazole.
