I have a history of heart arrthymias and just started taking Biaxin. After 2 days of taking 500 mg. 2 x day I seem to be having more arrhythmias. There is also a horrible taste in my mouth. My Dr said I had some fluid in one ear and a possible sinus infection. Three people I've been in contact with recently had these same symptoms which makes me think this is a virus but would amoxicillin be a better choice for me? ## Amoxicillin is an antibiotic in a different class than the clarithromycin you are taking but still an antibiotic. Viruses cannot be treated with antibiotics. Viruses just have to run their course. The only thing you can do against a virus is usually to vaccinate for it before it happens except there isn't one for the common Cold. Zinc is good for shortening colds a...
