I had been taking Citalopram 20mg for 8 months. I began taking it for anxiety, agitation, hormone type issues. Although it absolutely helped all of the symptoms that I complained of, the drowsiness side effect is too much. I feel like I am completely worn out all the time. I don't have the energy to exercise, therefore I have gained 10 pounds. My doc has switched me to Lexapro 10mg and I have been taking it for a week now. I already have far more energy than I had on Citalopram. Just hope it is as effective for my original symptoms. ## Are you still doing well on the Lexapro? Learn more Lexapro details here. Can I take 2 10mg celexa at the same time?? Would it be the same as taking a 20mg??? ## Yes, it would be equivalent to taking a 20mg, as long as they are both the regular release formulation tablets. My doctor even suggests I do it, if we're upping the dose of something, to use up the pills I've already purchased, before spending money on more. Learn more Celexa details here. There should be no problem, unless your doctor has specifically said not to do so. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I recently started back up on Citalopram 20mg after being off for a couple months. I was sluggish in keeping up with my Psychiatrist appointments and ran out of refills and just a couple weeks ago received a new prescription. This drug has worked great for me before - I got things done, was motivated, had plenty to say to others, smiled often, experienced real emotion - when I was off, I noticed all of those things dwindling. Now that I'm back on (2 weeks in) I'm still not feeling that great. Since it's worked for me in the past it has to kick in at some point right? ## Hi Ryan, I am in the same situation. I took 80mg brand name Lexapro for several years and it was a great experience. I had no adverse side effects besides it keeping me a bit more on the manic side, but i liked that. Dare i say i felt as close to happy as i ever had. How does 20mg of lexipro compare with 40 mg of citalopram? Is drowsiness a side effect of citalopram? ## The Escitalopram in the Lexapro is more potent than the Citalopram, so it is normal that a higher dose of the Citalopram be needed, if someone is switching from one to the other. And drowsiness can be a normal side effect of both of them, as well as nausea, dry mouth and weight changes. Are there any other questions or comments?

How do I ween off of citalopram hbr 20mg? ## Hi, Maria! How are you? Stopping an antidepressant is usually done very slowly, because on top of some withdrawal effects, stopping abruptly might also cause some rebound effects, which could result in very severe depressive symptoms. Learn more Citalopram details here. The most recent preferred method is to start skipping days of dosing, such as taking it one day, then skipping the next. You'd do that for a week or so, to allow your body to adjust to not taking it as often, then you'd start skipping two days and so on. However, it may not be safe for you to use this method, so please check with your doctor, before proceeding. Are there any other questions or concerns?
