What is the typical dosage per day of cipro for a uti for a 75 yr old woman? I am taking 500 mg twice a day and now have back flank pain on my right side after taking it for 5 days. ## That is a normal dosage for treating a UTI, however, at your age you may experience more severe side effects than someone younger. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. How are you feeling, now? Has there been any change?

How many of the 500 mg should be taken a day? ## Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections, but the dosage is usually decided according to the type of infection being treated and its severity. You can learn more Ciprofloxacin details here. Thus, there's no one pat answer that can be given. More details need to be known. You also shouldn't try to self-diagnose and self-treat, as taking an antibiotic, when you don't actually have an infection could cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. Are there any other comments or questions?

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash. You should follow your doctor's dosing instructions. The dosage can vary anywhere from one tablet every 24 hours for 3 days, up to 1,000mgs per day for 7 to 14 days, depending on the severity of the infection. ## What is the shelf life of ciprofloxacn 250 mg tab? ## Well this medication doesn't ever get dangerous, if it goes past about 18months old, it does start to lose some effectiveness, so where you used to take 1 pill you may now have to take 2 to get the full beneficial dosage. My concern though is you self-treating. You should never do this as this antibiotic may not be appropriate for your current condition and you also run the risk of creating drug resistance.

if you take cipro 250 mg 2xday how many hours in between dosage ## Hello, Jude! How are you? That would be approximately 12 hours, though it doesn't have to be exactly precise. if I cut ciprofloxacin 500 in half will it be the same as taking a 250 mg pill because 500 is too strong for me and I am ok with the lower dose. ## You should take the dosage prescribed by your doctor. Why do you feel it is too strong for you? Some severe infections require a higher dosage. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

My doctor just prescribed two drugs for two different conditions, prednisone for severe poison ivy and ciprofloxacn for a urinary infection. After doing a bit of research, it is my understanding that prednisone should not be taken when there is an infection. Should I take them both? (Prednisone dosage: 5mg each tablet; 10 tablets daily for 2 days, reducing to 9/2days; 8/2days; 6/2days; 4/2days; 2/2days; 1/2days. Cipro dosage: 500 mg; 1 tablet twice daily for 14 days) ## You shouldn't take it if you have an active fungal infection that you are taking oral medications for, and it can make it easier for you to develop an infection, but it is fine to take if you're doctor has prescribed it for you, and is monitoring your condition regularly. The FDA lists the typical side effects of...

Can I take ciprofloxacin at the same time with Lisinopril or Amlodipine and Metformin? Can I also take it so minutes before I take Slo Niacin and Soy Isoflavones in the evening? ## information on ciprofloxoin hcl ## Have they all been prescribed for you? Ciprofloxacin can increase the amount of Amlodipine that you absorb, it can also increase the effect of Metformin, according to the FDA reports, so it's best not take them unless your doctor has said you should do so. Additionally, the Niacin may alter the effects of your Metformin and reduce its efficacy. Some of these medications may require dosage instructions, while you are taking the Ciprofloxacin.

I was taking cipro for prostatities and I had a bad reaction now I'm taking apo sulfatrim ds 800 160 mg dosage twice a day . Will this be safer than cipro ## Hello, Fab82! How are you? The only way to know is by actually trying it and seeing how it affects you. It may work better for you than the Cipro did, but you could also suffer some adverse side effects from this one, as well. There's just no way to know ahead of time. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. What type of reaction did you have to the Cipro?

My doctor prescribed Ciprofloxacn for a stomach infection, 500mg twice a day for 10 days. I am a runner, 64 years of age, and am concerned about possible tendentious, or other leg problems that could result. My question is, could this short of a dosage cause me serious leg problems that could cause me not to be able to run? ## There is really no way to say with any certainty. Some people can take it and never have a problem, but that type of side effect has happened to some people, even after just one or two doses. If you are that concerned about it, you should discuss it with your doctor and you may want to ask them about using a different antibiotic that may not be as risky. Are there any other questions or comments?

my friend just had a prostatectomy and the pathology report (additional findings were Malakoplakia & HGPIN, just wondering if Cipro can cure it and what mg and length of time would he need to take it. Thanks ## Hello, Chip! How are you? Yes an antibiotic is usually used for this, but the specific one and the dosage required depends on the extent of the infection. Has his doctor recommended an antibiotic? ## He is just beside himself because he looked up all types of things under the name and they were all listed as "very rare" etc. So I figured I would ask if this type of antibiotic was a cure for it? I heard that it was? Am I right? He had a prostatectomy and the post- up pathology report said additional findings were HGPIN & Malakoplakia. He said since the prostate was...

So I was put on ciprofloxacin 2 times a day and am currently taking 10/325 percocets. I read somewhere that it is a major interaction between the two. Is there anyway maybe I can take them hrs apart? ## The only interaction I've been able to find is that Ciprofloxacin can increase the effectiveness of the Oxycodone. This doesn't mean they can't be taken together, just that your doctor should carefully consider your dosage and they should be monitoring you regularly to keep an eye on you, in case any problems arise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

Red and yellow capsule - NO imprint at all. Maybe an antibiotic or Cipro...... ## I don't think this pill was manufactured in the U.S., as it has no letter or number imprints. U.S. law requires that all prescription drugs have unique letters or numbers (sometimes in addition to a logo of some kind) imprinted on the tablets or capsules so the medication can be identified by manufacturer, substance and dosage. However, the way a pill looks is entirely up to the whit and whim of the company making it, so there could be many, many pills on the market, both over the counter or prescription that could meet that physical description. Unless you obtained this pill on the street, the only other thing I can suggest is that you try asking your local doctor or pharmacist for more information.

Can I take Ciprofloxacin for a tooth infection? I found some in the medicine cabinet from a previous Dr. Visit and was wondering if it would be effective??? ## Although Ciprofloxacin is not commonly prescribed for dental infections, it may be used for certain mouth or gum diseases, after a culture and sensitivity test is done. This will show the best antibiotic to treat the infection. (For example, Ciprofloxacin can effectively treat rare dental infections caused by the Enterobacteriaceae group of bacteria, but not others). So it may be a hit or miss if you still intend on using this medication. Dosages for dental purposes: The typical adult dose is 250 milligrams to 750 milligrams every 12 hours. This dose is given for 7 to 10 days. Ciprofloxacin should not be taken with dairy products...
