directions for taking chantix as I would like to restart taking it
directions for taking chantix ## i was taking Chantix and it was going quite well until I got constipated ,so I stopped taking chantix .I want to start again but do I have to start with the 0.5 pill or can I just start up where I left off with the 1mg? It's been about 8days since I stopped with Chantix. ## For anyone else that has a similar question…. Chantix is a very iffy medication and both starting and stopping it must be done very carefully and the person needs to be monitored regularly… Thus, the best advice I can give is to consult your doctor if you aren't sure what to do when you are new to taking it, you want to restart for another try or if you are stopping it. memory loss and prolonged personality changes while on, and after use of Chantix
I began taking Chantix in May of 2011, and quiut smoking in June. My brother started saying than I was acting strange. I did not believe him at first, and even felt he was trying to put me down...I remember that.... But I finally did notice that I was not sleeping, and getting really" wound UP"! I started forgetting things, and even forgot to eat, and take medicine. I quit taking the Chantix, and do not smoke, But I lost Two months of memory, and still have some time gaps, at night, to this day. I was removed from the County Fair in September, but have no idea why, and little memory of that evening, and became more isolated and depressed, to the point where I could not think clearly, and. ....well it was a nightmare. I am Now, in the middle of January beginning to retain more ev... ...

I Want To Know What The Side Effects Are Of Taking Methadone An Regular Daily Dose Chantix
I am on methadone maintenance & I am taiking chantix to quit smoking. When I first take the chantix in the a.m. I am disoriented and extremely anxious. these are not things that I experience taking methadone. Any feedback? ## Based on my research there are no known drug interactions between Methadone and Chantix; so I'm thinking the side effects you're describing are most likely related to one or the other individually. Anxiety isn't listed as a side of Chantix or Methadone, but there have been numerous claims linking Chantix to panic attacks, anxiety, nervousness, and even induced psychosis. I would definitely recommend discussing this with your doctor since it seems you're not alone in the matter. ## I am concerned about the "combination" of the Methadone a... ...

can i stop taking chantix without decreasing dosage as am having side effects that makes me want to the medication
I have been taking Chantix for almost 6 weeks and not smoking for almost 5 weeks. My dreams are not nightmares, but are becoming more disarming and I don't want them anymore. Also, this past week, I started getting very agitated and angry, lashing out at my husband and even a stranger or two. I am aware of some of the horrific stories of long-term depression, etc. This is my second time with Chantix. The first time I did it the full 12 weeks, didn't smoke and got very depressed upon quitting Chantix and started smoking again. Depression went away. My doctor suggested only one month if I was not craving cigarettes, which I am not, and then wean mysel off the medication. I began three days ago going from 2 per day to 1 in the morning and a half at night. I am to the point now that... ...

Just started on Chantix three days negative side effects so far. I am a registered nurse and am aware of the positive and negative effects of this drug. That said, this is my last hope as I have never been able to quit before. Family and friends are watching me closely for behavioral abnormalities. My quit date is set for 4 days from now! Really having high hopes for this It has helped many doctors and nurses that work with me. Just be aware of your body, and have a line of communication open with your family and doctor to express your thoughts and feelings. I would love to chat with others who are currently on Chantix, lets hope this works!!! ## It has successfully helped many people and I hope it works for you, as well. missed doses
after taking chantix for the first month a delay in my prescription refill caused me to not have chantix for 3 days. At what dosage should I resume taking it? ## Hi Buck, According to the Chantix site, If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember. That being said, I would just stick with your normal dosage and pick up where you left off. You can view their webpage for more info: I hope this helps! ...

side effects
I have taken chantix for 3 months I haven;t had a cig for 94 days but I'm having horrible side effects. Aggression, trouble breathing nervous irratable I took my last Chantix about 3 months ago will this go away? Should I seek medical help? ## If it has been 3 months since you last took the medication, then chances are very low that this is being cause by it, it is long out of your body by now. I would suggest seeking medical help, at least a phone call to your doctor. It could still be issues from quitting smoking, but smart to consult them just to be on the safe side. ...

Varenicline (trade name Chantix in the USA and Champix in Canada, Europe and other countries, marketed by Pfizer, usually in the form of varenicline tartrate), is a prescription medication used to treat nicotine addiction. Varenicline is a nicotinic receptor partial agonist—it stimulates nicotine receptors more weakly than nicotine itself does. In this respect it is similar to cytisine and different from the nicotinic antagonist, bupropion, and nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) like...
Just starting
Day four of 1st Chantix use. Have to stop w/ chronic bronchitis and am using the support system online of exercises. Will use the coach line. Slight headache or from the coughing? Tired a bit or from not exercising enough which helps my energy level and need to knock off pounds. A walk this morning helped with a tape of an inspirational author I love. Then I got depressed for awhile missing my deceased parents and self loathing over my nicotine addicted life. I can't imagine using this medicine with other meeds, alcohol, or if I had mental illness so people have to do it with their doctor. It's like with all scripts--read and beware. I'm optimistic w/o nausea and I am a writer and find odd dreams fascinating anyway. I had breast cancer 4 years ago and it was caught early. Bu... ...

So far so good
I started taking Chantix last week. I have tried before over and over again to quit but to no prevail nothing seemed to work until now. From the moment I started taking Chantix it was almost like I didnt think about smoking for the 1st week I would have about 3 cig a day and going from a pack and half to two a day thats pretty darn good. I do have some side affects, I get naueous in the morning but I find if I drink a glass of water first it goes away quicker I also have weird dreams but not necessarially bad, and loss of appetite, I also seem to be calmer, which I think is a good thing. Everyone will react differently to every kind of medication, Im just happy that my side effects are not like some. ## I took it for 3 weeks. It targets the area where you get the pleasure of smoking fro... ...

Will it ever work?
I have been on chantix for a month with a few side effects like weird dreams but nothing to make me put the cigarettes down I smoke a pack day and still do. I don't insurance at 220.00 month not sure if its worth it. ## Hi, Shay! It is possible that it just isn't effective for you. Not every medication works for everyone that tries it. However, you are supposed to pick a quit date, which is normally your 8th day of taking the Chantix and try to stick with it and let the medication help you by preventing the cravings for them. Learn more Chantix details here. This medication has helped many people quit smoking, but it is not a miracle drug that will do everything by itself, you do have to make some effort to quit, as well. Have you tried not smoking/having a quit day? ...

I am going to do this!
I have been on Chantix for not quite 3 weeks, including the starter pack. (The only thing is, I have missed a few times, but not any more!) Am I the only one struggling with quitting? I have cut back to half of what I was smoking. I made my mind up that Today, May 1st, I am officially a NON- Smoker. I haven't smoked since last night, but I still am having the urges. I just have to try to think of something else. One good thing is, when I asked my grown Daughter if this med worked for me, would she be willing to try it. She said yes, but low & behold, she quit cold turkey, a week ago Today!!! Nicotine is a really ADDICTING DRUG!!! I am so glad they finally came out with meds that are not like the patches or gum, where you get addicted to those too. I have heard of alot of people ... ...

I'm now a non smoker
I started taking chantix on May8, 2007 and three weeks later I was off the meds and smoke free! I could tell this was going to work by the third day/ First I notice that at certain times that I would normally smoke like on breaks at work, I noticed that I was wanting a smoke. Then my smoke started to taste funny almost like they were stale. then I notice that Iwasn't getting any statisfaction from the smokes. So I was basically smoking just to smoke. I wouldn't say that I have cravings or urges to smoke but that It's mostly a tthought and I would be like Oh! I don't smoke any more. I really can be done. In fact my husband and and two friends have also quit since I told them about this drug. In the first week of quitting I would go out with my smoking friends and it didn&... ...

Quit smoking after 40 years
I smoked on Chantix till the end of week 7 then during the start of week 8 I no longer had the desire to smoke. I know a lot of bad side effects have hit a lot of people but it worked for me. I thought I would never quit smoking. ## Congrats, Tom! I'm very glad that it worked for you and it's fantastic of you to post and share your positive experience with others. Most of the posts made online are only done when someone has had a problem with a medication, the positive experiences are rarely mentioned. How long were you a smoker and how long have you been smoke free, now? For anyone seeking information, Chantix is used to aid in smoking cessation, but yes some people do experience problematic side effects from it, such as nausea, weight changes, abdominal pain and severe constip... ...
