What to do if your insurance won't cover Chantix
I had a prescription for Chantix in August unfortunately I couldn't fill it the cost was $175 for a month supply. ouch. Yes I know I spend that in cigarettes a month but unlike the medicine I can spread it out over a month seems cheaper right. Well after dismissing quitting because of cost of Chantix I started to think about it again in November, there has to be some way to get the meds cheaper, I did some research and if you go on the Chantix website it has an area where you can apply for assistance thru Pfizer to have them supply it based on income. If approved they send the meds a 3 month supply to your doctors office where you will pick it up. It requires completion of paperwork from you and your doctor but well worth it process takes about 3 weeks. I am on day 9 of it and have ... ...

Day 16 on chantix, only small decrease in smoking :(
Hello, I started chantix 16 days ago. im 30 and ive been a pretty heavy smoker for quite a few years. ive only decreased my smoking very little and im getting worried cause I honestly have all intentions on quitting. the only side effects I have are weird dreams, fatigue usually 15-20 mins after I take the med, it usually gives me a warm rush followed by the sleepyness and I get shakey and quite anxious. is there anyone who can reassure me to hang in there? lol I have 3 kids and they need me, especially smoke free. ## Are you also trying to stop smoking? The medication isn't going to do it all. Whatever your intentions are, it also requires real effort on your part. Have you talked to your doctor about it? ## Dont give up. I went way past my quit date. So what?!!! Each of us is diff... ...

Any way to reverse long-term Chantix side effects?
My mother took Chantix several years ago in an effort to quit smoking. Well, she quit for a year. During that time, however, she became unbearably depressed. She has no history of depression. She consulted a doctor several times and tried 3 different prescriptions, 1 of them being Zoloft. She stopped because she said they made her feel like she was just in a constant haze. She hasn't been to a doctor or a psychologist since then. In the mean time, she started smoking again because she thought that it would make the depression go away. It didn't. Because of her experience with the 3 prescriptions, she is unwilling to go back to a doctor, and dismisses any notion of going to a psychologist. Our family has pleaded with her to keep trying, even if she has to tell whoever she sees th... ...

Bad metallic taste in mouth from taking Chantix, a fix!
Hi, on day two I woke up with this horrible metallic acidy bad taste in my mouth, mostly my tongue. I searched the Internet for help. I tried the following: Gargling with salt water, no effect. Gargling with baking soda, no effect. Eating drinking citris - somewhat effective Spraying my mouth with sore throat medicine - short term effect Started taking Zinc- BAD TASTE VANISHED - EFFECTIVE! ## Ironically enough, Chantix does list "having a bad taste in the mouth" pretty much word for word as a general side effect. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if it never went away until you stopped taking the medication. However, I am curious to know whether or not any metallic taste will return after you've continued to supplement with Zinc? If you could keep us posted every now and... ...

directions for taking chantix as I would like to restart taking it
directions for taking chantix ## i was taking Chantix and it was going quite well until I got constipated ,so I stopped taking chantix .I want to start again but do I have to start with the 0.5 pill or can I just start up where I left off with the 1mg? It's been about 8days since I stopped with Chantix. ## For anyone else that has a similar question…. Chantix is a very iffy medication and both starting and stopping it must be done very carefully and the person needs to be monitored regularly… Thus, the best advice I can give is to consult your doctor if you aren't sure what to do when you are new to taking it, you want to restart for another try or if you are stopping it. want to start chantix but i am taking meloxicam is there an issue with taking both
want to start chantix but i am taking meloxicam is there an issue with taking both. I have several days left to take the Meloxicam ## With all due respect, your question about mixing the 2 drugs should be directed to your Dr. You'll need to talk to your Dr. to get a prescription so that would be the time to ask. ## Hello, Zflyer1! How are you doing? I didn't find any interactions listed between these two medications, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. The side effects to the Chantix may include nausea, dizziness, depression and weight changes. Are there any other questions or concerns? ...

memory loss and prolonged personality changes while on, and after use of Chantix
I began taking Chantix in May of 2011, and quiut smoking in June. My brother started saying than I was acting strange. I did not believe him at first, and even felt he was trying to put me down...I remember that.... But I finally did notice that I was not sleeping, and getting really" wound UP"! I started forgetting things, and even forgot to eat, and take medicine. I quit taking the Chantix, and do not smoke, But I lost Two months of memory, and still have some time gaps, at night, to this day. I was removed from the County Fair in September, but have no idea why, and little memory of that evening, and became more isolated and depressed, to the point where I could not think clearly, and. ....well it was a nightmare. I am Now, in the middle of January beginning to retain more ev... ...

I Want To Know What The Side Effects Are Of Taking Methadone An Regular Daily Dose Chantix
I am on methadone maintenance & I am taiking chantix to quit smoking. When I first take the chantix in the a.m. I am disoriented and extremely anxious. these are not things that I experience taking methadone. Any feedback? ## Based on my research there are no known drug interactions between Methadone and Chantix; so I'm thinking the side effects you're describing are most likely related to one or the other individually. Anxiety isn't listed as a side of Chantix or Methadone, but there have been numerous claims linking Chantix to panic attacks, anxiety, nervousness, and even induced psychosis. I would definitely recommend discussing this with your doctor since it seems you're not alone in the matter. ## I am concerned about the "combination" of the Methadone a... ...

can i stop taking chantix without decreasing dosage as am having side effects that makes me want to the medication
I have been taking Chantix for almost 6 weeks and not smoking for almost 5 weeks. My dreams are not nightmares, but are becoming more disarming and I don't want them anymore. Also, this past week, I started getting very agitated and angry, lashing out at my husband and even a stranger or two. I am aware of some of the horrific stories of long-term depression, etc. This is my second time with Chantix. The first time I did it the full 12 weeks, didn't smoke and got very depressed upon quitting Chantix and started smoking again. Depression went away. My doctor suggested only one month if I was not craving cigarettes, which I am not, and then wean mysel off the medication. I began three days ago going from 2 per day to 1 in the morning and a half at night. I am to the point now that... ...

Just started on Chantix three days ago....no negative side effects so far. I am a registered nurse and am aware of the positive and negative effects of this drug. That said, this is my last hope as I have never been able to quit before. Family and friends are watching me closely for behavioral abnormalities. My quit date is set for 4 days from now! Really having high hopes for this pill....lol. It has helped many doctors and nurses that work with me. Just be aware of your body, and have a line of communication open with your family and doctor to express your thoughts and feelings. I would love to chat with others who are currently on Chantix, lets hope this works!!! ## It has successfully helped many people and I hope it works for you, as well. missed doses
after taking chantix for the first month a delay in my prescription refill caused me to not have chantix for 3 days. At what dosage should I resume taking it? ## Hi Buck, According to the Chantix site, If you miss a dose you should take it as soon as you remember. That being said, I would just stick with your normal dosage and pick up where you left off. You can view their webpage for more info: chantix.com/how-to-take.aspx I hope this helps! ...

side effects
I have taken chantix for 3 months I haven;t had a cig for 94 days but I'm having horrible side effects. Aggression, trouble breathing nervous irratable I took my last Chantix about 3 months ago will this go away? Should I seek medical help? ## If it has been 3 months since you last took the medication, then chances are very low that this is being cause by it, it is long out of your body by now. I would suggest seeking medical help, at least a phone call to your doctor. It could still be issues from quitting smoking, but smart to consult them just to be on the safe side. ...

 Varenicline
Varenicline (trade name Chantix in the USA and Champix in Canada, Europe and other countries, marketed by Pfizer, usually in the form of varenicline tartrate), is a prescription medication used to treat nicotine addiction. Varenicline is a nicotinic receptor partial agonist—it stimulates nicotine receptors more weakly than nicotine itself does. In this respect it is similar to cytisine and different from the nicotinic antagonist, bupropion, and nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) like...
Just starting
Day four of 1st Chantix use. Have to stop w/ chronic bronchitis and am using the support system online of exercises. Will use the coach line. Slight headache or from the coughing? Tired a bit or from not exercising enough which helps my energy level and need to knock off pounds. A walk this morning helped with a tape of an inspirational author I love. Then I got depressed for awhile missing my deceased parents and self loathing over my nicotine addicted life. I can't imagine using this medicine with other meeds, alcohol, or if I had mental illness so people have to do it with their doctor. It's like with all scripts--read and beware. I'm optimistic w/o nausea and I am a writer and find odd dreams fascinating anyway. I had breast cancer 4 years ago and it was caught early. Bu... ...

So far so good
I started taking Chantix last week. I have tried before over and over again to quit but to no prevail nothing seemed to work until now. From the moment I started taking Chantix it was almost like I didnt think about smoking for the 1st week I would have about 3 cig a day and going from a pack and half to two a day thats pretty darn good. I do have some side affects, I get naueous in the morning but I find if I drink a glass of water first it goes away quicker I also have weird dreams but not necessarially bad, and loss of appetite, I also seem to be calmer, which I think is a good thing. Everyone will react differently to every kind of medication, Im just happy that my side effects are not like some. ## I took it for 3 weeks. It targets the area where you get the pleasure of smoking fro... ...

Will it ever work?
I have been on chantix for a month with a few side effects like weird dreams but nothing to make me put the cigarettes down I smoke a pack day and still do. I don't insurance at 220.00 month not sure if its worth it. ## Hi, Shay! It is possible that it just isn't effective for you. Not every medication works for everyone that tries it. However, you are supposed to pick a quit date, which is normally your 8th day of taking the Chantix and try to stick with it and let the medication help you by preventing the cravings for them. Learn more Chantix details here. This medication has helped many people quit smoking, but it is not a miracle drug that will do everything by itself, you do have to make some effort to quit, as well. Have you tried not smoking/having a quit day? ...
