drug interaction atripla chantix
1 Reply RSS
I would like to know symptoms and side effects of taking Chantix with the HIV medicine Atripla; both have a lot of psychological side effect warnings and I want to know if it's worth the risk to take both of these together or not... ## I do not know the effects of taking these drugs together. However, I can tell you 1st hand that Chantix -in myself and 2 others I know personally- was a Rx for personal and friendship relationship disasters. IMO they should change the name to "Antix" b/c of the way it will turn a loving individual into a unreasonable hateful being. We stopped ch-Antix and used the e-cig system to stop smoking and still keep friends... ...

I'm taking chantix for 3 weeks now can I take xenadrine Ultra ## Have you checked with your doctor? The Xenadrine products are over the counter dietary supplements that are claimed to aid in weight loss, however, as such, they aren't tested for possible interactions with actual prescription drugs. Thus, I can really only advise that you check with your doctor or pharmacist, before taking it. ...

Chantix success- very grateful woman
Post a Reply
I am a very grateful 43 year young woman. I quit smoking for the 1st time after smoking for 24 years. I was having an elective surgery and my surgeon said I had to quit 14 days before my procedure. Which I ended up quitting 12 days before. He nicotine tested me the day of my procedure to be sure I hadn't smoked. I let him know it had only been 12 days, and I was able to have my procedure! I began taking Chantix on 3/27/08 and by the next morning they already tasted bad. I had my last cigarette at 7am on 3/30/08. I took Chantix for 30 days and have never craved or smoked again. It's been 7 years and 8 months. When I think back its hard to imagine ever smoking. Which my seem crazy since I smoked over half my life. The love of my life always tells me it's hard to even imagine t... ...

does chantix make you sick if you smok?
1 Reply RSS
I have been taking Chantix for just one day now so I have not yet stopped smoking. My quit day is next week. The only negative side effect so far is an upset stomach which seems to be worse when I smoke. Has anyone else had this experience? ## I quit smoking with Chantix 98 days ago. It gave me an upset stomach too sometimes. Make sure you eat and drink water with the pill. It is a pretty common side effect of the drug. I got some of those peptol-Bismol chewables which helped a lot. Good luck to you, Chanitx really helped me. ...

will stress cause chantix not to work?
1 Reply RSS
I started Chantix a week ago and still have the same urge to smoke the same amount and it doesn't taste different or anything. I am under an extreme amount of stress which makes me crave my nicotine so could that be causing the Chantix not to work? Ive taken Chantix before and within a few days cigarettes started tasting funny to me and within like a week and a half I was done and I quit for almost a year. This time completely not even working, WHY? ## Hello, Shannen! How are you? It could be the extra stress or you may have just become tolerant to the Chantix, since you've taken it before. Have you discussed the issue with your prescriber? Has it started to help, at all, yet? ...

I put Chantix to the test and I we failed.

Instructions said you could keep smoking so I did and kept waiting for that bolt of lightning. In two I doubled up to bout 2 packs day, gave up the pill, and quit trying to quit. Those cigis were much then and eventually I got to three packs. Early 2013 I cold turkey quit. Chantix didn't win any points. ## Hello, Woodyj! How are you? I'm very sorry that you didn't have good results with it. However, many people do, it's really helped a lot of smokers to quit. Though, you aren't supposed to just keep smoking. You can for awhile, but you are supposed to set a quit date, many times after a week of being on it. Typical side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, headache, depression and weight changes. How are you doing, since stopping cold turkey? Do ... ...

Why is Chantix not working faster for me?
43 Replies RSS
I'm almost finished with my 3rd week of pills and still need a couple of cigs a day. They do not smell or taste bad to me at all. I've read where many people are totally free in just I just a slow learner!! ## I am using Chantix to stop using smokeless tobacco (snuff). I just started week 4 and still dip the same. My cravings are the same. The first three weeks on Chantix I would take one pill when I woke up and one later in the evening. Because I work 3pm to 3am, the times would always vary. So now I decided to take one at noon, and one at midnight. I don't know if this will make a difference or not. I hope so. Anyone else have a severly delayed reaction to Chantix, or has anyone used it for snuff? ## On day 7 (my quit day) and I am still smoking. I am experienci... ...

Taking more Chantix than I'm supposed to
2 Replies RSS
I took Chantix and quit smoking years ago. Lately I started again. The Chantix wasn't working this time so I doubled the dosage, it is working perfectly now but I'm afraid the double dose will kill me!? My side effects are the exact opposite of what people describe. It seems to help my mood, I feel better, I'm doing really well and I'm not smoking no bad dreams none of that. Only the fear that the double dose is dangerous. Anyone have an opinion here? ## P.s. When I say I doubled the dose I don't mean I went from the starter pack to the blue ones, I'm taking 2 blue ones at the time, twice a day ## How are you doing? Have you experienced any problems? It would be best to inform your doctor that you've doubled up, so they can check for any possible problems. Ch... ...

Taking more Chantix than im supposed to

I been taking it for about 6 weeks now every day. I cut back on smoking to less than a pk a day but still not kicking it, stress triggers urges to smoke. Lately i have doubled the dose and it seems to help, but im cautious doing so because i get a little nausea after. I wonder if its best to take it mostly when im awake idk, also fyi, its actually worked better for me to stop drinking insted of smoking, strangely, i bought a case of coors light i drank 1 and they been sitting on the floor not in the fridge almost 2 months. What can i do to help the drug work? Can i think anti smoking thoughts or read anti smoking material to help effectiveness? ## I tried chantix a few years ago and couldn't stay on it when I got to the blue pills. I couldn't remember if I took my blue chantix. So I took another was lime 2 hrs apart. I feel light headed when I stand up an little sick to my stomach. Just wanting to know what will happen. ## Hello, Betty! How are you? It could be dangerous, if it caused Serotonin syndrome, but that's not highly likely if it just happened ones. Did you experience any adverse effects? It is most likely to cause more severe side effects, which as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. chantix works on gambling addiction as well
4 Replies RSS
I was addicted to internet slot games for 4 years. I am on my 3rd week of Chantix and have deleted all the games and blocked them. It actually makes me sick to think about playing them. All urges are gone as well with going to the casino to play real slots. Chantix is wonderful! The only thing that bothers me with this drug is not being able to sleep but otherwise it's great! ## @Cinderella, Congrats on quitting the gambling. After 4 years, I can imagine that habits like this would be difficult to walk away from. How does Chantix make you feel after you take it? Does it cut off certain pleasure points in the brain that may be associated with an addictive behavior? I've only heard about its use in helping people to quit smoking, but it sounds like its mechanism of action has a br... ...

I have been on Depo shot for a year and just started taking Chantix a month ago and have been bleeding for 2 weeks, the bleeding just stopped but I am wondering if the depo shot is still effective? Anxiety Increase after weaning off Chantix
6 Replies RSS
I recently weaned myself off of Chantix. Prior to taking it, I had already been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, but it was totally manageable. I had only had one full blown anxiety attack before getting on Chantix and none during. However, in the week since I have been off of it, I have been seriously anxious. Like a mini panic attack a day anxious. I've made an appt with my doctor, but I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced this sort of thing. I feel like a freak. :( ## Please don't feel like a freak, such experiences are completely normal and we all go through them, some more than others, so there's no reason to feel that way. And yes, when you stop taking a medication like Chantix, it can cause rebound type effects, which may include anxiety attacks. Learn mo... ...

Does Belviq really work better than chantix?
3 Replies RSS
My Doctor suggested I try Belviq since I am about 30 lbs overweight and smoke like a chimney. I have been trying Chantix off and on for about three years, and had varying success. I am down big time to a half pack a day from 1.5 packs a day. Not sure I want to do the swap. Has anyone else had success with Belviq for quitting? ## Hello, Arabella! How are you? Belviq is approved for weight loss by the FDA, but I've not heard or read anything about it being used to help with smoking cessation. However, your doctor is allowed to prescribe medications off-label, according to their own experience, so they may know it to work for other people. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and anorexia. Has anyone used it to stop smoking? #... ...

Still Dizzy, Close to Blackout After Chantix

Hi, I took chantix for 6 weeks. I am glad I quit smoking after nearly forty years but while on it I couldn't bare the nausea and the stomach upset. I quit after taking it for six week but now I get headaches and I feel like I am going to pass out several times a day. Has anyone experienced this side effect. ## Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. Lately there has been cases where people have gotten late onset diabetes. It is type 1, insulin dependent. They got it shortly after taking chantix. You may want to see a docter. Also check for these symptoms, very thirsty all the time, using restroom a lot and loosing weight. Those are also good signs of type 1 diabetes ## I suffer from the same thing. I thought maybe it was my BP but when it was checked it was good. I would like... ...

Chantix can cause Extremely Bad Side effects
1 Reply RSS
I started taking Chantix when my employer had a promotion to help its employees to quit smoking. I was a long time smoker and had tried to quit smoking several times. I tried everything from Tooth picks to Nicotine gum, to no avail. So I participated, and was prescribed Chantix to quit smoking. When I stopped it got worse, the nightmares haunted me. I was having issues with blurry vision, making it hard to drive to work every day, I had anger issues, severe depression, and became a different person. Taking Chantix started me down a long path of Severe Depression, which I am still battling today. Some of the other side effects I experience are, anger, nightmares, blurring vision, suicidal thoughts, that led to one attempt. I was almost hospitalized for severe depression, because my paren... ...
