I have been taking oxycontin, now since they changed the the formula i am up to 120x2 a day with a breakthough. It stinks i still have pain with the op kind. I tried 100mg patchs of fentanal. Could never keep them on.Now i hear of a fentanal pill newly approved.I think this would be a lot better for me. Ant thoughts on this dillema I have??? ## Have you tried the Fentenal lollypops? (suckers?) ## The new tablets are sold under the trade name Fentora and they are available in several dosages, up to 800mcgs. The lollipop formulation that Kat mentioned is called Actiq. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? This is really the strongest narcotic available and you may have better luck with a different formulation. ## having trouble keeping fentynol patch on ## Fentora is an IR version of fenta...

Doctor just took me off 120 mg OxyContin daily and switched me to Fentanyl 75 mcg. What can I expect as far as differences in the effects? Are these two separate doses equal in strength? ## Yes, Fentanyl is the strongest opiate narcotic that is available. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. However, the only way to discover how well it will work for you is by trying it. Have you started using it, yet? ## Does that work onyourpain fentanyl75 and your oxy80cause i have cancr pain

HELP; i suffered severe spinal injuries nov 2004; first i was prescribed T3's for pain, then tramadol, oxycocet, then oxycontin, anf finally was placed on fentanyl; Due to problems with the patch I chose to start a drug reduction strategy; I went from 50 mg patch's every 48 hrs to every 3 days for a month, then to a 25mg patch every 3 days for a month; then stopped cold turkey, i have some 10 mg ihc oxycontin i take when the pain is unbearable but am having terrible insomnia and just feel like hell warmed over, chills, nausea, feeling yukky. so far i have been able to limit the 10 mgs to 3 a week, but when i take a 10 mg oxy, i feel alot better...what can i do to get off all meds? ## Well, the first thing you have to understand is that Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, it is ac...

I am converting a pt from Fentanyl 150mcg to oxycontin 60mg. Should I leave the patch on for a few hours before removing it: ## Dear Cheri: I am not a Dr, nor am I in the medical field. All I have to offer is my experience. Going from 150mcg of Fentynal to 60 mgs of Oxy seems like a Huge Decrease! I am presently tritrating very slowly off of Fentynal, via my Drs help. May I ask why the switch? Is it not possible to ween down off patch then onto the other med? I say this because there are Many of us tritrating from Patch and if the Drs and Nurses only Knew what we, the patients go through, then and Only then would they Fully Understand. The big pharmaceutical companies Lie! I am not trying to be mean, nor am I a know it all. I am trying to help the person who is going from fentynal to Ox...

ive been on these for about 7 years and was just asking coz my teeth are slowly getting worse also on oxynorm amitriptoline seratail co-codamol and have just started on fentanyl patches please help ## Your teeth can be affected by many medications, especially narcotics. The problem is caused due to the fact that they tend to sap the minerals from your body, plus they cause dry mouth, which allows more bacteria to sit on your teeth. From the medications you are taking, all of the narcotics, the Oxycontin, Co-Codamol, Oxynorm and the Fentanyl can cause a loss of calcium, as well as dry mouth. And the Amitryptiline can also cause dry mouth as a side effect. Many people on long-term narcotic pain management end up with severe dental issues and a lot have lost all their teeth and required de...

I was taking 4 80 mg oxys daily my doc put me on 2 100 mg teva morphines will it help the same and will i go through withdraw thank you ## There may be some issues here, because the Oxycodone is actually 1 and a half time stronger than the Morphine, so you'd need 120mgs of Morphine to equal each 80mg dose you were taking of the Oxycodone. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Learn more Morphine details here. Why did he change your medication? ## Pain Meds 101: For chronic pain management...the best result is almost always a long acting med (OxyCONTIN (currently no generic so $$$), Morphine Sulfate E/R extended release, Opana (not my particular fave), Fentanyl Patches and Exalgo). I would like to know if there is any pain medication that compares or is an alternative to oxycontin (80mg), besides opana? ## There is a time released Morphine on the market, as both a generic and under the name brand MS Contin. It is not as strong as Oxycodone, so you would require a higher dosage. If you were taking 80mgs of Oxycontin, then you'd need 120mgs of MS Contin. There is also a patch on the market, which contains the active ingredient Fentanyl, it is very potent, over 80 times stronger than Morphine. Are there any other questions? ## I am on 80mg oxycontin, what strength ms contin would I require as a equivalent? ## I broke 10 vertebrae in a serious accident a number of years ago. How do I stop uncontrollable movements after being switched off Fentanyl patch 50mcg / hr? The Dr said to wait a couple of hours before taking Oxycontin 30 mg. I am 72 and have been on a Fentanyl patch 50 mcg/hr for 9 months for severe back pain. The Dr thought it was no longer working and put me on Oxycontin 30 mg every 12 hours. I started to get very restless and not able to control movements. Not sleeping well, sneezing, bowel movements. No concentration, heavy headed. Please I need help. I can not stand this. ## Hi Barbara! You should let your doctor know the way you're feeling. I am currently wearing the Fentanyl 25 patch. I have had some (4) bad experiences this month alone. Exerting myself - gardening, carrying groceries, lifting anything; I become short of breath, extremely rapid heart rate and my legs and upper body become very weak. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this. I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. To be fair, I had awful leg weakness before I started taking or using anything. I don't know what to do. I took an OxyContin (30) mg and had an even worse experience than mentioned above. (Shortness of breath & rapid heart beat went on longer). I have ruptured disks and extreme leg pain that's why I started pain med. I hope someone can help me. ## Hello, KathyB! How are you feeling? I'm sorry about the experien...

Can someone please tell me why I am having such bad reactions to OC (the usual itching, nausea and vomiting). I am vomiting 5-6 time a day, and find it extremely difficult to keep anything down, even water. I have been prescribed OC 80mg for severe disc protrusion, awaiting surgery, subsequent to a double discectomy and laminectomy (lumbar). I am aware that opioids can adversely affect people who are not tolerant, but for me, this is not the case. In the past I have had Diamorphine and Fentanyl 75 with no issues, not even withdrawal. Can anyone throw any light on this for me. They are great for the pain, but I can no longer handle the side effects. ## In addition to this post, when I vomit from the meds, I often end up vomiting the pill which then has no effect on the pain. With respect...

hi i have been on these patches for 4 months now but i still have pain ## Have you consulted your doctor? Do you have any medications for breakthrough pain? Usually, for proper pain management, something long acting like the Fentanyl is used and then some that works immediately, or a regular release medication, is also given for those times the pain is too much for the long acting medication to completely control. ## I am on 25mcgs of fentynal patches every 72 hours, plus 10/325 pecocet 1 every 4-6 hours for BT pain. The Percocet doesn't do much, and is very similar to my previous prescription of Norco and the patch isn't strong enough and runs out after 48 hours.
