I've taken subutex for a long time know for chronic pain, in my opinion it's been awesome. I just had surgery. My surgeon was very forthcoming about everything. My issue now is can I go back to subutex after my last dousing of oxycodone 20s and 20s timed released. I've done it before but opposite, like when I was on subutex I had taken oxycodone but im freaking myself out because of everything I'm reading... every one makes it seem completely different.... It's not suboxone.... it's subutex. It really bothers me when people put it in same category, they assume it's the same. But I have way to many stitches to be throwing up.. ## Hello, Shay! How are you? Subutex contains Buprenorphine, which can also block other opiates from working or throw someone into prec...

Hi, I've been prescribed opiates for years now. With a few breaks between (with Subs, methadone, etc) after weaning my usage down. I took 2 days of methadone. Can I still take 2 mg (and slowly increase) my subutex use 24hrs after my last dose of 30mg methadone? ## Hello, Sue! How are you? Just like when starting Suboxone, you have to be in full withdrawal, before taking Subutex, unless your doctor directs otherwise, or it could throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

How long do I have to wait to take subutex after opiates, as i've heard you will withdrawal if you still have opiates in your system? ## That is correct, you must be in full withdrawal, before you take this medication, otherwise it can throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took a 4 mg Hydromorphone at 8 pm last night. It's currently 12:15 am for me. Can I take a piece of a subutex right now? ## I'm in the hospital on MS Contin 15mg for 3 days. I wanted more relief so I have a subutex...

This is simple. I've been on suboxone for five years. I'm clean. I took opiates for thirty years. Methadone was the kinky way out and frankly doesn't work for the same reason subutex rarely works. You can still take opiates on top of both. Suboxone has a blocker. It is easy knowing you can't feel high. I still go to therapy and meetings. Beats being deaf. Good luck. ## Hello, Anfy! How are you? Actually, Subutex can still block other opiates from working, so many people do have good luck with it. It contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, which tends to cling to the opiate receptors in the brain much stronger than most other opiates, so it can also cause precipitated withdrawal, if someone has been taking any recently. The FDA classifies it as an opiate that is mos...

I have been using subutec for 7-8 months now, I decided I was well enough to try some Roxy 30s again, now 4 days after I'm deathly ill, can't stop vomiting. Nothing will stay down, what should I do?? ## Subutex will prevent other opiates from working, unless your doctor instructs otherwise, you usually have to wait at least 3 days, before other opiates will work for you, again. The FDA classifies Subutex as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, if you didn't experience these symptoms until 4 days later, it is very doubtful that they are related to taking the Roxicodone, you may just have the flu or a virus...

I AM ON 24MG OF SUBUTEX FOR MONTHS NOW AND 3 10MG OF OXYCODONE FOR CHRONIC PAIN. RECENTLY MY DOCTOR RETIRED AND BEFORE HE LEFT HE TOOK ME OFF OF ALL OXYCODONE. I STILL HAVE PAIN THAT THE SUBUTEX DOSEN'T TOUCH. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I AM 64 YEARS OLD AND CAN'T FINANCIALLY QUIT MY JOB BUT I MISS WORK ALOT. MY JOB IS VERY HARD WORK ## Hello, Fran! How are you? Subutex only contains Buprenorphine, not the opiate blocker Naloxone that is in Suboxone, so you can take other opiates, after taking it, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you spoken to your new doctor about your pain? They may n...

I was dope sick and was given a subutex. I hear it's just like the suboxone so it's a blocker or would I feel another opiate a few hours later? ## Hello, Bree! How are you? No, Subutex does not contain the Naloxone that is in Suboxone that neutralizes other opiates. It only contains Buprenorphine. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, if you have an addiction problem, I strongly urge you to see a doctor and get proper medical help. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Vernon you do not know what you are talking about at all. Yes subutex blocks opiates just as well as suboxone. The bup which is in both med...

I took one 8 mg 24 hours ago. First one I took. Will I feel opiates after 24 hrs ## Hello, Rick! How are you? Most likely not! Subutex tends to take a stronger hold on your opiate receptors, even though it's a rather weak opiate itself, so it prevents the others from having much of an effect. It would be best to give it several days. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long did your doctor advise you to wait?

OK. I was dependent on oxycodone and norco for over a year. Started taking suboxone at just 8mg a day (that's not low, subs are extremely strong). Every 4 days I took off a mg till I was down to 1mg. After 4 days on 1mg I stopped and very light withdrawal for just ONE DAY! Then I was fine! As far as taking norco with suboxone, I just waited 5 hours and didn't go into WD but didn't feel the norco at all. So you need to wait a few days to feel opiates after taking suboxone, but I don't recommend that because you may not be out of your sub withdrawals (just not realizing it) and go into WD. Wait 2 weeks. I went cold turkey of of 80mg oxycodone per day and it was hell, so I can call subs a miracle. If you taper right you'll have almost NO WD! Hope this PSA helps.

I have been off the opiates for just over a year and lately due to stress I find myself wanting to deal with my issues by self medicating and used subutex to get clean. Suboxen gives me headaches so I need a dr in the oak ridge area who will prescribe subutex before I go down that addiction path again. I have so much going in my favor and don't want to lose all that I've worked to achieve. Please tell me where and who can help. ## Hi im going for a vacation for 3 months to thailand, right now im on subutex treatment and need prescription on subutex to take with me, i contacted some docter in thailand and they only got methadone , so could you help me with prescription for 3 months, my doctor will not write any recept for some reason i dont know ! my vacation will be broken if no...

i was on methadone 3x10mg plus roxicodone (oxocodone fast release) 3-5 @ 30mg/day. I stopped methadone several days ago and roxi a day and a half ago before starting subutex treatment today. I did not go into rapid w/d but feeling lousy now. I took 20mg of sub and feel a partial w/d like a weak flu and general lousiness. can't sit around and just want time to pass so I feel better. Does Anyone know if I am going to feel good anytime soon or is this or something similar in store for much longer time? will I feel better tomorrow and even further better in next coming days? please let me know as I am really doubting if I can carry this on if its going to be this way. I don't know how to go about this as I am shaking and can barely focus, I need help! Please. I fear that my life is going to end from my abuse of opiates. I am currently taking 250 mgs of oxycontin per day. I have a loving fiance and a stepdaughter that I want to be here for. I sit here with cold sweats, and fear going out just because I may make the fearful turn to the meds. Any and all info on how to obtain Subutex would be much appreciated. This wasn't what I wanted my life to be, and I can not let it end this way..Please help me. I am not a religious man but I pray for help as I am at my wits end with this drug. ## If you are that desperate for help, then why are you worried about being specific about the thing you use for assistance? I have been on Subutex for a couple years. The doctor I have went nuts and told me he is closing shop and hates all his clients. Anyway he switched me to suboxone film for my last script. I have been on it for 4 days the 1st two days I didn't feel great but it was manageable and now yesterday and today I am so sick. I feel like a I am in full withdraw i tried taking more but it made it worst. I have no opiates in my system I have only taken subtext for years. There is nothing online showing why I would be sick with the switch. I tried calling the doctors office but I think he closed down. Or at least he is closed today. ## Kansas city no suboxen ?????? ## Hey Marissa, That doctor sounds like he just couldn't cope with the pressure of being in this profession. Sorry to hear that ...

Hi there, My boyfriend and I were taking opiates for about a year, quite a lot. We have been on methadone for about a year, I've been on it for a few months longer. Started at 60mgs a day and then got down to 12mg. For the past month I've been on a higher dose to get off the opiates we got hooked on again. Think we didn't have enough methadone and the cravings set in. So, I got subutex now and my boyfriend and I are living in separate places now, which make this hard to coordinate. I got subutex and we shared it but I had to start taking 8mg instead of 4mg just so that the withdrawal from methadone would go away. So I've taken most of the Subutex meant for us and have 2 8mg tablets left. I don't have any methadone now, only a script for another month at 12mg. Yesterd...

Hello... Does anyone know if I can take toradol for pain while on suboxone (5 mg/day)? ## Yes, you can. it isn't an opiate at all. Im on subutex and my doc lets me take toradol. Just don't use it for long term use. 5 days is max in a row. ## What is Suboxone all prescribed for? I know its for coming of opiates but what else? Because I know some ppl that get them and I know they were never on any sorta drug. Does anyone know? ## Toradol contains the active ingredient Ketorolac, this is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so yes, as long as your doctor has okayed it, it can be used with Suboxone or other narcotics. Common side effects may include: nausea, headache and stomach irritation. ## Suboxone contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, this is a naroctic and it can be used ...

Why do people stay on suboxone for long periods of time? I was on 8 , 10/325s a day for 6months, and I was able to get off opiates with 2, 8 mg pills of suboxone. I took a whole pill (8mg) the first day, 1/2 (4mg) the next day, 1/4 (2mg) the 3rd day, and I stopped taking it. I saved 2mg just in case I withdrew. But I had little to no wd's. I would relapse a few months later for about two weeks. And was able to get off the opiate with just one 8mg sub. By taking a 1/2, a 1/4, an 1/8, and an 1/8 the 4th day. No wds. Knowing I had access to the subs gave me a way to use the opiates recreationally cuz it felt good. Kinda wish it wasn't available. But if it wasn't, I'd be stuck on the opiate. Thankfully I haven't used in 16 months cuz it can get expensive. :-\ ## well I a...

U took 4 7.5s perks around midnight will I go into withdraws if i take a 54 411 around 10am ## Dear highboi1989, u must wait until u r in withdrawals b 4 u can take the sub. If not, u could get sick and feel like crap. U should not take both together, either. It could b dangerous. So, remember, wait until u r withdrawing b 4 u take the subs. GOOD LUCK! ## There is nothing in Subutex to counteract other opiates, so someone does not have to be in full withdrawal to take it. Subutex contains only the opiate Buprenorphine. It does not contain the Naloxone that Suboxone does which so why you must be in full withdrawals, before you can take it. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth...

Was on methadone fir 3 months and I've been off of it fir 1 month but I've been doing other opiates to get me through the withdrawal. I'm looking into taking subutex and wanted to no if I can take one right away or do I have to wait 24hrs for the opiates to get out of my system. ## Hello, Tiny! How are you? Subutex only contains Buprenorphine, it does not contain the Naloxone that is in Suboxone to cause withdrawal, so it does not require the waiting period. This is a narcotic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My husband has been on subtext for almost 8 years when he first started going to the clinic we thought that he was going to be weaned off the opiates but every trip to the doctors he was giving a prescription for more subtext which we are being charge a three hundred dollar visit every month and that doesn't include the price to have the prescription filled which we can't afford so my question is can he safely get off of this medicine? ## Yes, but it will require a slow taper to prevent withdrawal issues, since it does contain an opiate. The FDA warns that suddenly stopping it could cause rebound effects, such as nausea, pain, elevated heart rate, elevated blood pressure, fever, chills, and diarrhea. His doctor should be able to help him set up a proper tapering schedule. Has he...

My daughter abuses opiates and is now quite poor. I have been trying to get her subutex but cant find anyone to prescribe them. She has inj. marks all over her body and has lost so much weight lately she is grey. It's horrific to see she is so thin and has a needle broke off in her groin. They tried to operate but it's to close to the main artery. She has had 3 dvt's and numerous abscess's. She has been on opiates for 17 yrs and abused them for about 11. I don't know what to do anymore. ## Try to go clinics and they are very mean.
