My 7 year old is taking sulfameth-trimeth suspension (10 ml 2xday) for a skin infection. I've had a bad toothache for the most part of the day. I took 2 ibuprofen around 6 this morning, then two Tylenol after my bike ride around 11 a.m. and then I took 2 ibuprofen around 4 p.m. and I took my first dose of sulfamethoxazole around 8:20 p.m... Could this hurt me? ## How are you feeling? Did you experience any adverse effects? I took sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim 800/160 mg which expired 2 years ago; but i only took half and I have had a headache all day. Can I now take ibuprofen for the headache? What pain med can I take while taking sulfamethoxazole? I wanted to take something for pain and all I have is naproxen. Can I take it while taking this medicine or an ibuprofen 800mg? ## The University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu) has a drug interaction tool you can use to plug in and check for interactions between various medications. I went ahead and looked up the combination of Naproxen + Sulfamethoxazole as well as Ibuprofen + Sulfamethoxazole and didn't find any warnings listed. While this does not necessarily mean that no interactions exist, I personally haven't come across any specific details stating otherwise. Does this thin blood like aspirin, Ibuprofen? Is it safe to take this prior to surgery to knock a sinus infection? ## Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds itself is not a blood thinner, although it does have a warning label stating it's interaction with other blood thinners. As far as pre-operative doses go, this is probably something that should be discussed with the surgeon, since every surgeon has their own unique pre and post operative instructions. Odds are it is probably fine, as it is an antibiotic and doesn't thin blood; but just to be sure I would double check with his personal instructions. My Dr prescribed me 20 Sulfamethoxazole Tmp. So far I have taken 10 tablets and from yesterday I have started getting chills, headache, sore throat and body ache. I called up my Dr again and she said to take Ibuprofen for all these symptoms with Sulfamethoxazole Tmp. Howeve I read somewhere on the internet that these are severe side effects and may cause serious damage to your body. I am thinking to stop these tablets now. 10 tablets which I already took are not sufficient to clear my acne infection ? I am taking Sulf trime tab 800 /160 mg. It's for my swollen foot ...I got bit by something on the cruise ship.The doctor also gave me Ibuprofen 600 mg and oxy for pain. I took a pill lisinopril then took a sulfanethoxazole and an ibuprofen that is white and says I8 on it. I passed out and dont rememenber is that normal if you mix them thee drugs together for that to happen? Just worried me ## The relevant question is, did you actually pass out, or did you just get drowsy, lay down and go to sleep? If it is the former, then you should refrain from mixing them in the future, until you consult your doctor. If it was the latter, then getting drowsy and falling asleep from the combo is possible, because they can all cause drowsiness, as a side effect. ## I got prescribed smz/tmp.
