I have several physical back, neck, knee, foot issues that cause chronic pain. I have been on pain medications for about 20 years. Yes..I know it sounds like a long time. But I had small kids to raise and a very unsupportive husband. I am at a pain clinic. Recently I asked to be taken off of MS Contin 60mg. twice a day with 3 tablets of 4mg. dilaudid for breakthrough pain. I did take the dilaudid sparingly according to my activity level. Well..they wanted me to try long acting ELAGO in place of the morphine. I feel like the ELAGO does not last 24 hours and I feel like I need to take more 4mg. dilaudid. I also feel like I am getting a rapid heartbeat sometimes. Could you tell me what may be happening to me? I was hoping to not have to take anything other than the ELAGO ER, but it is not the...

Is 100Mg morphine sulf er, 600 Mg gabapentin 3 aday, 4 dilaudid 4Mg, 1 ambian 10Mg,and 1 elival 50 Mg, aday to much? EVERY DAY ,THANK YOU! ## There is really nothing unusual about these dosages and dosage frequencies for someone who is obviously being treated for chronic pain. The only time it would really be considered too much is if you had suddenly jumped to these dosages, without ever having used them before. Really, the operative questions is, have these all been prescribed by the same doctor, so your usage and dosages are monitored? Morphine ER this is a generic for MS Contin, a time released tablet. Common side effects can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Gabapentin, the active ingredient in Neurontin is an anticonvulsant also used to treat nerve pain. C...

Been prescibed dilaudid last few months as a breakthru med. 4mg 2x day as/if needed. So I haven't taking everyday & somtimes 1/2 of the 4mg. Mainly take ms contin er. How long taking the dilaudid b/4 I go thru withdrawal if I stop taking the dilaudid?? Been on it here & then a few months?? Or taking the ms contin for yrs. Wouldn't that prevent withdrawal ??? Please help!? ## Such a small amount of hydromorphone should not cause a problem as far as withdrawal goes. I would be more concerned about the morphine XR than the D's. ## Bruce is correct, though we are all different, so there is a small risk of your experiencing withdrawal symptoms, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, constipation, and mood changes. They also warn ...

I have reverse swan neck and it has caused 3 herniated discs in my neck. I currently take 3 10 mg percocets daily and 2 20 mg opana ER's. I'm not really getting the relief I'd like. What would be a logical upgrade in my meds? ## Although I don't have personal experience with these types of medications, I thought I'd still go ahead and post a list of other possible options for you. Some types of opioid drugs include: codeine (only available in generic form) fentanyl (Actiq, Duragesic, Fentora) hydrocodone (Lorcet, Lortab, Norco, Vicodin) hydromorphone (Dilaudid, Exalgo) meperidine (Demerol) methadone (Dolophine, Methadose) morphine (Avinza, Kadian, MS Contin, Ora-Morph SR) oxycodone (OxyContin, Oxyfast, Percocet, Roxicodone) I think there's some speculation as to ...

I have been on oxycodone 30mg 6x a day for several years now and my tolerance has built up considerably high. I am considering changing to dilaudid 8mg 6x a day with 15mg of oxy 2x a day for breakthrough but im wondering if there Is a better alternative? I tried fentanyl patches and those didn't work worth a damn. ER tablets don't digest well for me. Please send me some suggestions I don't know what to go to ## Help, Alex! How are you? Why don't you try another time released medication, such as Oxycontin, which is the time release Oxycodone or Ms Contin, which is the time released Morphine? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Time released ...

I just had my spinal revision surgery on 11/4/2016, and due to the severity of the issues and problems, the surgery took far longer than expected. This surgeon was expecting, and correct, that I would require a stronger pain medication regime following surgery. Through several trial and errors, and the need to be off of IV therapy to be admitted to rehab, we decided that I would be on ms contin 30mg XR and dilaudid 8 mgs x4hrs prn. Pain management working well with only minor breakthrough pain easily handled through controlled breathing. I have found that a dose of ms contin at 8pm followed by a dose of dialaudid at 10pm allows me somewhat decent sleep until 4:30-5:00am! Something that I haven't been able to do for at least 6-8 months! Until tonight of course!! Nurse gave my MS cont...
