I am having some serious withdrawals this early morning. I just took an 8 mg of Suboxone at 4 am and I wanna go to the Methadone clinic at 5 am. I usually take methadone and I couldn't find my medicine, I cut a suboxone strip and cut it into 4 pieces and I took a 1/4 of it at like 11 am and I feel horrible my body is aching plus I found my methadone so since I just took a 1/4 of a strip I can take my methadone and it help my boddy , and withdrawals???? ## No, the Naloxone in the Suboxone has likely started some precipitated withdrawals and now will prevent the Methadone from having any effect for about 72 hours. What is the difference between suboxone and methadone? ## The active ingredients are very different, though both are opiate based and are used to treat severe pain as well as addiction. ## Dear Comments Submitted, Verwon is right, they r both opiate based. But the methadone helps much better with pain. (Believe me) I've been on both. After almost 5 years on methadone, I had 2 go on subs. Thought i was all set tapering down from methadone. I took 15 milgrams of methadone after not taking any in over 2 years am I ok to take a piece of a suboxson ## The answer to this may be different for each individual (as far as how long to wait), but if it were me I'd probably try to wait 3 days for methadone to be excreted, due to it's long half-life. Other patients on here may feel differently though. Based on your situation I have a feeling you'll be alright to take suboxone sooner than later, but if in doubt I would still encourage you to contact your prescribing doctor first, just to be on the safe side. After taking 98 mg of methadone for the past 9 yrs, is it possible 2 switch 2 suboxone? My body was significantly abused when i was out there, lots of back injuries, no pain w/ methadone. At first, methadone was the best thing that had ever happened to me. I finally felt normal, and thought I was ready to get my life back on track. Well.. What a lie that was. If you're on Methadone can you still take Suboxone safely? ## NO! They are both very strong narcotics, it is not safe to take both. In addition, Suboxone also contains Naloxone, which neutralizes other opiates. i am starting on suboxone next week...one of these messages says never tell the suboxone doctor you were at one time on methadone..why is that so,if it is ? ## I've never heard anyone say such a thing, nor have I read it anywhere. I am guessing it may have come from someone that was abusing it, rather than using it for treatment. There are many people who have successfully switched from Methadone treatment to Suboxone treatment to finally beat their addiction problems. I have been taking 40mg methadone everyday for almost a year now and I really would like to switch to suboxone. I know you can't take suboxone until you've had atleast 48hrs from your last dose of methadone, so yesterday and today I've taken an op 80 instead. My question is will I be able to take a suboxone tomorrow and not go into immediate w/d since it will be over 48 from last methadone dose? My suggestion is to switch to a short-acting alternative for 2-3 months until the Suboxone is off your receptors, then taper down and be sick for only 5 days. In my experience, the thought of quitting is worse than the reality of quitting it. Just do it!

I take 12mg of suboxone a day and it keeps me level headed and happy for the most part. It’s saved my life, but it doesn’t completely ameliorate my urges to use. Hello, everyone! I've heard stories about how some people stay on methadone 4 many years 2 life. Does anyone know if this is true? I've been on subs 4 almost 8 years. And, i was addicted 2 Oxy. (Heavy duty). I m just so scared if I got off that I would b back at a pain management addicted, again. Due 2 my severe pain from many medical problems. My friend was on 8mg of Suboxone for 8 years. Her doctor cut her back to 2.5mg on the last week and then cut her off due to Methadone use as well. My friend had taken pills during the duration of the Suboxone and also takes Methadone. I took 60 mgs of methadone sat morning at 8 am... today is monday 4 pm. If your only dose was 60mgs of done sat morning and you haven't take any done before or after that I say your good.
