Omg. This week I would of done anything for pills. Lost my job, boyfriend cheated, kid with suicide attempt, found out I have cancer. I'm on two 8mg a day and I took 3 for a few days for the psychological feeling of relief. Life couldn't get any worse. I will be out Tuesday and I'm not due till Thursday. What do I do? ## I ended up calling my doctor and letting him know everything and he was more thankful I didn't use again. That was more important than me taking two extra doses. ## Hello, Jess! How are you doing? I am very sorry about your cancer diagnosis. And I am very glad that your doctor understood and didn't penalize you for taking those extra doses. What is your cancer prognosis? This medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effec...

Was taking 6-8 Lortab's a day with Fetanyl patch every 72 hours. Doctors need to know if my spine pain is still present or if meds were just masking. So he put me on Suboxone. I take a half at a time. Three suboxones and I still have spine pain. What does this mean? ## Suboxone doesn't tend to alleviate pain as much as most other narcotics, so after taking it for awhile, you should be able to let them know if you still have the pain and how bad it is, but it will prevent you from going into withdrawals from stopping the other medications. At this point, after being on it for such a short time, you may be having rebound pain from stopping the other medications, so you'll likely need to give it a little more time, before you know for sure. The FDA classifies this medication as...

How can I stay on suboxone when the doctor wants to take me off? ## Don,t know if it would work but you could tell him you still have urges to use and you don,t think your ready yet. Why do you want to stay on it? ## Hi Bill Brasksi! As Jolter said,"u can tell the Dr that u r still having cravings 2 use." I've been on suboxone 4 almost 8 years, and, I don't plan on getting off it anytime soon. My reason is I feel that I will b back on pain pills, again. (Due. 2 the pain I suffer) I'm just not ready, yet, and, I don't trust myself. ## @Bill, Does your doctor want you off Suboxone indefinitely or is he just trying to get you to taper down from what you've already been taking? In either case, I think it would be a good idea to ask your doctor his reasoning for w...

I don't take suboxone everyday, just a half of a quarter every 3 to 4 days for about a week or week and a half now. So plz someone tell me if it will be out of mine and the baby's system by the time of birth? I am due Oct.15th, 2015. Plz and thanks. I am a first time mom and I try not to hurt me or my child and I don't want cps involved in anything. I just need advice. ## It would be best, for your safety and that of your baby, to inform your doctor that you've taken it and get proper medical assistance. I understand that you're scared, but you could be putting both of your lives at risk by not telling them. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dr...

My doctor has disappeared. He went out in March. At the March appointment I got two scripts for three a day (regular dose is two a day) one to fill that day and another to fill April 17 to cover up to June 17th. There was no rx for May and I stupidly did not start looking for new doctor because I trusted this doctor and had been going to him for over 2 years. The day before the June 17 appointment he calls, says he could not keep the appointment. At that time, I had a few left and told him that and it was “I don't know what to tell you and hung up”. I got into see someone a few Saturdays ago and they knew my situation and agreed to not make me start over and instead start right off treating monthly if I had printout from pharmacy saying that I had been on it. The doctor ...

The Doc put me on 5 a day 8mg pills. In all 40mg a day. It makes me really tired during the day, then at night I have Insomnia. I guess it's better then taking Opiates again. It's truely changed my life? If only I can sleep! ## My doctor started me on four a day, which happens to be way to much. I don't know the exstent of your using but I can tell you that I was bad as they come. If you want to sleep then stop taking so much, no one needs that much suboxone. After a while It becomes a regular part of your life which I am sure you know. I now take only eight milligrams a day, I have been on them for nine months. After forcing myself to lower my dose my sleep paterns became one hundred times better. I went from over three hundred milligrams of oxycontin shot intervenously to ...

How are you? I'm very glad that Suboxone is working so well for you, it has been a literal life saver for many. My mother-in-law didn't tell her dr that she was on Suboxone and was given Targin (which is oxycodone 5mg + naloxone 2.5mg hydrochloride). She is on 2mgs of Suboxone. Will she get sick or withdrawal? Or will it actually help with pain relief? ## Wow! No, she needs to inform her doctor, as soon as possible, that could result in a possibly dangerous overdose, since the Buprenorphine in Suboxone and the Oxycodone in Targin are both opiate narcotics, plus they both contain Naloxone, so she is also doubling up on that. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and my cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. As to the withdrawal, that is doubtful, since the Suboxone will just prevent the Oxycodone in the Targin...

Hi, Does anyone else out there get relief from chronic depression by taking the Suboxone? I take it illegally whenever I run out of Percs, and it always makes me feel better, like I can do more things and I have more energy. Next week, I go to a Suboxone doctor to get on this legally, but should I tell him that I take them illegally and that they help with my depression? I am not sure if I should tell him this. I would love to hear from someone. Thanks ## I take suboxone from a doctor and after you taking percs, yes, he may start you on the suboxone program($$$) if he sees fit- or if you are truly addicted to opiates, but when you tell him you take percs for depression he will definitely add an anti-depressant to your med. list then taper you off the sub. program. It works. Depression i...

Would a doctor rather write scripts gor pain killers or suboxone? I've been on opiates for 10 yrs as has my husband. He was recently put on suboxone and seems to be doing so much better and I'd like to change as well and have had people tell me that a dr would rather prescribe something like suboxone instead of the strong pain killers that I'm currently on...Tia ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? Some doctors do prefer it, due to the fact that the Naloxone in it helps prevent a patient from being able to abuse other opiates. That's why it's also the preferred medication for addiction treatment, now. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. However, it is entirely up to yo...

I am currently in my 4th month in a methadone clinic in Menlo Park Ca. I have less than 55 days to go. I am down to 20mgs of methadone a day. I do not have medical insurance, but would like to know if I am able to get a prescription for Suboxone. I was treated 7 years ago by Dr. Glatt. San Mateo Ca. I took suboxone back then, and was clean for almost 8 years. Please tell me there is a Dr. in the San Francisco area willing to prescribe suboxone for me. Can someone please tell me what the difference between suboxone and subutex is? And , why one doctor would prescribe one over the other? ## Hello, Cats68! How are you? Subutex contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, but Suboxone couples it with Naloxone to prevent the abuse of other narcotics, while someone is being treated with it. Thus, that also explains why some doctors prefer one over the other. This is a narcotic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Dear Verwon, I now understand the difference b tween them. But why would one doctor use one over the other? Can people still feel the effects of opiates on subtext, b cause it doesn...

I've been on klonopin and suboxone for years. As long as you don't abuse them and take what the dr tells you to, you won't have a problem. It can and will be death if you abuse them. Hope this helps. ## @brian, You have a good point. Self control goes a very long way. As habit-forming as something like klonopin is, continuing to adhere to your doctor's regimen can be the biggest difference between becoming a fully fledged addict or remaining a normal patient. I know those are just labels, but it really is a delicate balance that one must maintain over the duration of treatment or course of several years, as you can vouch for. Glad to hear that you're still finding them both to be beneficial and not detrimental after all this time. Take care!

On day 4 of sub detox, starting 5th day this evening. Anyone else out there doing this? Would love someone to chat with. ## Hello, DeeDee! How are you? I've never taken Suboxone, so I have no experience with coming off of it, but I can tell you that according to the FDA, some of the withdrawal symptoms may include nausea, headache, rebound pain, diarrhea and chills. How are you feeling? Is it going well? Others should be warned that this medication is a narcotic opiate, so it can be habit forming and withdrawing should only be done under the supervision of your doctor.
