can you take sulfameth/th/trimethoprim 800 160 with meloxicam 7.5.. I am taking it for a sinus infection and cough, but my costachondritis has flared up and wanted to take meloxicam ## My findings state that there are in fact interactions between these two drugs. Posted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Coadministration with inhibitors of CYP450 2C9 may theoretically increase the plasma concentration (potency) of meloxicam. The clinical significance is unknown. The potential for an interaction should be considered during concomitant use." Based on the info above, I would recommend talking to your doctor before going through with taking the meloxicam, just to play it safe. I hope this info helps. Get well soon! ## I didn't find any problems or interactions li... ...

Because Cefdinir is also a antibiotc, wii it work just as well as Sulfameth tmp ds tabs. ## It really depends on what type of infection is being treated. Sometimes doctors choose one antibiotic over another, because they know has been proven more effective at treating certain infections. For instance, while it is a broad spectrum antibiotic of the Cephalosporin class, Cefdinir has been proven most effective at treat infections of ear, sinus, throat and skin. Thus, your doctor may not want to prescribe it for a urinary tract infection. The Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim, however, has been shown to be very effective at treating urinary tract infections, so when you have one, your doctor may prefer to use it as their first choice. And there are some infections that they are both proven... ...

bacterial sinus infection AFTER starting antibiotics for another reason

i was recently prescribed bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) for an infected burn. on the second day, i woke up with a really sore throat. by night, i had a fever, and the next morning, i had a sinus infection--which i used to get chronically from about 11 years ago, up until 4 years ago, in which time ive only had one. a day later i had a productive cough, semi bad but nowhere near as bad as the bronchitus the sinus infections would, after months, eventually turn into. those infectionswere clearly bacterial as whenever I did end up taking antibiotics, they always ended within a few days. I tried to ride them through to defer antibiotic resistance and such, and i cant rememeber if i ever did, because they WOULDNT go away. regardless, i went back to the dr this time after gettin... ...

I am coumadin and have a terrible time with level fluctuations. I bleed very quickly. What is the interaction problem with sulfatrim? I am taking it for a sinus infection. ## Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim, the active ingredients in Bactrim, is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of infections. When taken with Coumadin, which contains the active ingredient Warfarin, the plasma concentrations of the Coumadin can be increased, meaning that you are absorbing more of the medication than usual and your body isn't processing it out at the normal rate. This can result in increased bleeding dangers. Does your doctor know you are on both of these? ...

Is Ilvitrim Suspension good for my HIV negative baby? The doctor prescribe it while she was having a short breath problem. Thanks ## Hi Fanyana, Based on my research, Ilvitrim contains the active ingredients Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim; a sulfonamide antibacterial combination that is used in the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections. (not just limited to HIV). If your child's doctor prescribed it for what appears to be an upper respiratory or sinus related infection, Ilvitrim does sound like an appropriate medication for the job. However if you're asking whether or not a powerful antibiotic like this is good for your baby, my personal answer would be no, due to it's high risk of side effects. In which case, I would personally consider other more natural alternat... ...
