I am taking it for a sinus infection and cough, but my costachondritis has flared up and wanted to take meloxicam ## My findings state that there are in fact interactions between these two drugs. Posted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Coadministration with inhibitors of CYP450 2C9 may theoretically increase the plasma concentration (potency) of meloxicam. The clinical significance is unknown. The potential for an interaction should be considered during concomitant use." That said, I would assume that it is beneficial for a sinus infection; but not being a doctor myself I cannot be 100% certain of this. i was recently prescribed bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) for an infected burn. on the second day, i woke up with a really sore throat. by night, i had a fever, and the next morning, i had a sinus infection--which i used to get chronically from about 11 years ago, up until 4 years ago, in which time ive only had one. a day later i had a productive cough, semi bad but nowhere near as bad as the bronchitus the sinus infections would, after months, eventually turn into. those infectionswere clearly bacterial as whenever I did end up taking antibiotics, they always ended within a few days. Smz Tmp DS 800 160 was prescribed along with steroids to treat a mold infection I had in my sinuses. Had great difficulty with digestion during the 15 days prescribed, and had to take over the counter medicine to alleviate severe heartburn, and ice cream for stomach discomfort. After completion of prescription 5 months ago and to date, have been left with a condition of Lactose Intolerance (never experienced before) and one or two days a month of severe fatigue and some joint pain.
