Having lap-band surgery in 1 week and in my pre-surgery test they determined I have a mild UTI infection today and gave me sulfameth/tmp ds tab. I have no symptoms or fever. Will this cause the surgeon to postpone my surgery? ## Is your surgeon aware that you are taking this medication when you filled out the initial paper work to have the procedure done? Usually, antibiotics like this one are only prescribed for up to 7 days or so to kill an infection, so it may end up that you finish taking the medication before your surgery date. It should be a priority though in my honest opinion, to inform the surgeon about it anyways just to be on the safe side. i just started taking depo shot along with sulfamethoxazole and now i cant tell which one is giving me hypersensitivity to light,the slightest hint of sun makes me.break out in instant hives...i was told to decide which one to go off of to find out the cause..:( ive already broken out with skin rashes on the loestrin pill and infections with nuvaring.i always get uti so i hope its the bc over my sulfamethoxazole. ## If it were me, I would look at the antibiotic as being the most likely culprit. My obgyn has prescribed me sulfamethoxazole for a uti and im 28 weeks pregnant. He said it was a class c ... Meaning he said its a greater risk not to take it than to takeit....im kinda nervous about it but i know im in great hands. my sister is 17 years old. she told me the she had sex without using condoms with his guy she been talking to for a while but the was the first time she did not use condoms. Next day he states the he had chlamydia in the past and he thinks he got them again for her to go get check out.
