Help! How can Subutex patients be treated for pain?
4 Replies RSS
I've been a Subutex patient for a year taking 8mg a day. If I get in an accident, how can a doctor treat me for pain. I've been worried about this ever since I started and I haven't spoke to my doctor yet. I sincerely do not care about getting high anymore and this really bothers me. Can somebody please help? Thank you! ## There is no need to worry, they will be able to treat you. Subutex only contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, it does not contain the added Naloxone that Suboxone does, which is the ingredient that neutralizes other opiates. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you! That... ...

Learn more Subutex details here. Learn more Saphris details here. The main problem that I can see that may occur is due to the fact that they both cause some depression of the central nervous system, so taking them both can intensive those effects. Thus, you should know to watch for any possible danger signs, such as extreme somnolence, dizziness, lowered heart rate and low blood pressure. Subutex Vs Methadone For Pain Control

I had an allergic reaction to a medicine that I was prescribed for migraines and on Easter of 2009 I literally died. I flat-lined 3 times and was in a coma for 18 days. Then out of the grace of god a doctor came into my room in the middle of the night and decided to try to Eckmo (sp:) machine on me. IT WORKED! Thank goodness I did wake up and although I had to learn to eat, walk, speak, etc. all over again. All of my organs are 100%. But I ended up with horrible drop foot on both feet and we don't know why, but also horrible bilateral neuropathy. I have been through so many surgeries just so that my feet would actually work so that I could walk again, however we can't seem to control the pain of the neuropathy, because we don't know how I got it. I have run out of options with "pain pills" have been inquiring about subutex as a pain reliever for chronic pain due to a spinal injury. Ive been on just about every pain pill there is and they just don't seem to have enough "power" to keep my pain level at a acceptable position. Anyone with factual information that I can present to my healthcare provider would be my hero. Thanks ## Hello, Lee! How are you? What type of factual information are you looking for? Anything that would be available on this site or others online is the same as what your doctor already has access to for information. There is nothing new I can provide you with. Why would someone take suboxone and subutex at the same time. Are they not basically treating the same condition? ## Yes, the only difference is that the Suboxone contains Naloxone, to neutralize other narcotics that someone may try to take at the same time. However, the narcotic in both is Buprenorphine, which is used to treat drug addiction and severe cases of pain that is resistant to other medications. Have they both been prescribed to someone? ...

please help 'Surgery And Subutex and oxycontin'

I take 24 mg subutux, I was told to stop taking it 2 days prior to surgery an was prescribed 10 mg oxycodone 4 times a day for withdrawel. I has surugery yesterday and was told to double the oxygen and take 20 mg every 4 hours. l I can not sleep I am in withdrawel and in agony. ## Did you contact your doctor? The Buprenorphine in Subutex is a very strong narcotic opiate, so you might not be on a high enough dosage of the Oxycodone to actually help. I can understand their not wanting you to take it for surgery, but did they say why they didn't want you going back on it afterwards? It can handle pain and would have avoided these types of problems. ## I feel awful for you have you told them yet...if so go to the er! ...

What's the max dosage of Subutex if used for pain?
1 Reply RSS
Hi. I recently stopped taking 180 mgs. of OxyContin twice a day. I had been on that dose for eleven years. I'm now taking 8mgs of Subutex 3x a day. I'm getting some pain relief but I'm still at a 7 for my average pain scale. When I was on the OxyContin I was at an average 10 pain for the last 21/2 years. That is why I went off it. My main question is what is the max dosage of the Subutex I can take a day? Thank you so much. ## From what I've read, the maximum daily dose of Buprenorphine (Subutex) is listed at 32mgs. So with your current dose being 8mgs 3x daily, you're one more dose away from the maximum. If you're also interested in reading other patient reviews, there happens to be another discussion thread here on this same topic, that you can have a look at i... ...

Finding Subutex Dr?
28 Replies RSS
I am really having a hard time finding a doctor who treats with Subutex and not Suboxone. I have chronic pain syndrome and relief-seeking behavior soon became drug-seeking behavior. My psychiatrist put me on Subutex, and my pain was reduced a little, but I wasn't so much into drug seeking anymore. I was treated for 5 years. Then I moved, and I can't find anyone in Ohio who does this. I might have to move back to Chicago! Any suggestions? ## What is your particular issue with using Suboxone, rather than Subutex? They both contain the exact same narcotic to treat pain and/or addiction, Buprenorphine. The only difference is that the Suboxone also contains Naloxone, to help prevent someone from abusing other narcotics, while they are using it. If you are no longer having a problem w... ...

I need subutex in Spokane wa ASAP pls email ## In general, I think pain management doctors would be less reluctant to prescribe Subutex than a regular primary care physician; mainly because they are constantly dealing with patients who are on opiates and this includes those who are also tapering and going through withdrawals as well. So, if you're looking for any sort of doctor, look for a pain management one. I may not have a doctor I can refer you to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service to you in so far as locating pain management doctors within your general area...
