may i substitue 2 10 mg. lisinopril tabs to make it 20 mgs? ## Yes, you can do that, it would be equivalent to taking a 20mg tablet. Hello I have been taking a blue oval lisnopril 10-12.5 hctz once day. Can I cut this dose in half as I feel that dose is to high for me. There is no score line but have a pill cutter.. ## Ask your Doctor he/she may have something better in mind for you. Don't be doing such things on your own unless ;you are your own MD. ## I'm not suggesting you do this without discussing it with your doctor first, but I will say that cutting a pill in half to take a smaller dosage should not be a major concern as long as the tablet is not an extended/time-released formula. The notion that doing such a thing may be harmful without a doctor's supervision or say so, is "not always true" in my experience. In cases like this, taking the full dosage or tablet more than likely presents a g...

white pill ## What does 20/12.5 mg mean? ## The pill you have is Lisinopril (20 mg) + Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg). To answer your question, the two numbers simply stand for the milligram of each ingredient. These two drugs are respectively a combination of a diuretic and an ACE inhibitor, to control hypertension. You can view a detailed description of the drug, by clicking on the link below... If you have any more questions or comments to add, please post back so I can further assist you. ## can this pill be cut in half if too strong ## I would check to see if there is a score line on the pill. If so, pills with score lines are generally made to be cut in half. I believe there is a Lisinopril 10 mg + Hydrochlorothiazide 7.5 mg combination in which case I personally would feel content ...

Can I cut a 40 mg tablet of lisinopril in half in order to take two 20 mg instead? ## It is safe to do this with any medication that is not time released. Is there some reason, however, that you need to take a lower dosage? Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiac conditions. If you have one of these conditions, it is very important that you take the proper dosage to keep them under control, so you shouldn't make any medication dosage adjustments, without checking with your doctor. In addition, if you have been taking 40mgs and suddenly lower the dosage to 20mgs, you need to be aware that there will be rebound effects, which can include elevated blood pressure and elevated heart rate. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can I ...

can lisinopril -hctz 10-12 5mgtab be cut in half? ## Hi Shirley, Is there a score line (indent) on the pill? If there is, then it is there specifically for the purpose of cutting the pill in half. Whether or not there is a score line, I would still cut the pill in half if needed. Maybe talk to your doctor about getting a lower dose of this medication if you consistently feel the need to use half a dose. NOTE: cutting a pill in half only works if the pill is in tablet form. This just wouldn't work if it is a capsule, since the contents would fall out. Hope this helps!

Age 44 Female, family history of heart attacks, strokes, hypertension. Finally went to the internist after feeling weird for about one year--I kept testing high BP repeatedly over the last year. I have 6 members of my family on lisinopril. Day One Lisiniopril HCTZ Report. To ease into it, I took a half pill (10 mg pill cut in half, so 5 mg). Side effects started within 2 or 3 hours. I had a (all too often these days) migraine when I woke up, so I cannot blame the drug for that. After I woke up, I took my BP 131/85, Pulse 83. Then I took my first half pill. Side effects: dry raspy irritated throat, it made it harder to talk at work, pretty bad muscle stiffness and cramping up and down my back (OUCH), general fatigue, weakness in arms, i tried to lift a laundry basket and i felt both of m...

I take lisinopril once a day at 9am. By mistake, I took it last night at about 1 am. Should I miss taking it for the rest of the day? ## What dosage do you take? While it is always best to double check with your doctor, the FDA usually instructs you to skip the next dose, then just resume your normal dosing schedule. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. ## I take losartan 50mg at noon, I notice it takes at least 6 hrs. before I get a good reading. If I cut the tablet in half and took both halves, would it maybe kick in a bit faster. Seems to have a coating on the pill. ## I'm taking lisinopril 10mg during the day and my readings are perfect, but after 4 or 5 my blood pressure goes up to 150/90 or...

I noticed on my refill bottle it says Lisinopril 20 mg twice a day. Do I cut them in half? Will this mg cause my heart rate to to be faster and blood pressure to be higher? I have a 75% per. in my heart now. Do I call the doctor? ## Lisinopril is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. I take Lisinopril -HCTZ-20-12.5 mg twice a day. I noticed on my refill bottle It says Lisinopril 20 mg twice a day. Is that the same or should they be cut in half two times a day or should I call the doctor. Will this cause my heart rate to be higher and blood pressure to higher?. Thank You ## Did your doctor change your prescription? The original contained Lisinopril with Hydrochlorothiazide, while the new one, according to what you've listed, only contains the Lisinopril. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. It is always best to take the one your doctor has directed you to take. Is there a chance your pharmacy made an error?

My 73 yr old husband was just put on Lisinopril 5 mg daily in addition to the half-tablet of 25 mg HCTZ he's been taking. The pharmacy gave him 10 mg Lisinopril which he is to cut in half but it is not designed to cut. When I try to cut it with the best pill cutter I could find, many of them us crush or cut unevenly. What can I do? I end up with a handful of crumbs that are not usable. ## Your best bet in this case, would be to crush the tablets, divide the crushed powder in half as nearly as you can and then just mix it in something such as juice or pudding. It is well known that when breaking or cutting a tablet you may not always get the full half a dose that you are supposed to, being a little off is not going to affect anything. ## I had the same issue. What I did was I contact...

HALF OF WHITE OVAL PILL WITH LSN ON IT OTHER CUT OFF BUT DOES HAVE A SCORE ON IT ## The closest possible match I could locate has the imprint LSN 20, as opposed to just LSN; but this pill is also said to be white and oval shaped. Although I can't definitively confirm the identity of this pill, the limited information that I did find says it contains 20mgs of Lisinopril, which is an ACE inhibitor that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Has anyone else come across this tablet?

I was prescribed Lisino Hctz 10-12.5 in the USA for High Blood Pressure. I bought Lisionopril 10mg and Hidroclorotiazida 25 mg in mexico where i was told to cut the Hidroclorotiazida tablet in half and it would be the same. Is this true? ## Technically speaking, that is correct - however, the combination of ingredients in the Lisino Hctz may be synthesized together in such a way that your body would process separate doses of the Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide slightly differently. All in all, it *should* be fine. Be sure to get it cleared by a doctor or pharmacist (if you were not already told to cut it in half by one).

My husband takes 50mg Metoprolol succinate 1 x daily at bedtime for V-tach (no heart disease) along with 20mg lisinopril and 1 baby aspirin. He recently got an Apple watch and was alerted that his heart rate while he slept had dropped to 37 and 34. We recently moved, we have to wait for an appt to get in with a new doctor and then have to be referred to the cardiologist here for a check up as it has been about a year since he last saw the cardiologist (that is when the meoprolol was increased to 50mg) and was told to come back in a year. Is the low heart rate at night an urgent concern or is it ok to wait until he can get in with the new doctor. Or should he cut the tablet in half? Thank you for your help! ## Hi Rosan, Sorry to hear about your husband's situation. According to wikip...

Small round white pill also named hidroclorotiazida ## I bought bidrociral hidroclorotiazida in Mexico and was told it was to eliminate water retention. Is that true? I've been taking them for three days. ## Yes, Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic, used to help eliminate excess fluid in the body. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, headache, sun sensitivity and back ache. Was this prescribed by your doctor? ## I was prescribed Lisinopril-Hctz 10-12.5 tablets in the USA and bought the tablets Lisinopril 10 mg and Hidroclorotiazida 25 mg. I was told in mexico to cut the 25 mg in half. This would equal what i was prescribed in the USA. I just wanted to confirm.
