I am taking suboxone for chronic pain but having severe muscle spasms. I am thinking about asking my pain doc for Soma. I have tried Flexeril and Zanaflex and got no relief. ## No, you should not take these medications together, Major drug interaction. It may result in central nervous system depression which can lead to serious side effects such as respiratory distress, coma, and even death. [1] ## Yes. Soma is a medication that is taken short term, 2 to 3 weeks. If prescribed, take only as directed, increasing the dosage can cause complications, up to and including, death. Soma actually becomes Meprobamate in our bodies, which is a barbiturate. If you and your doctor feel you will take Soma as prescribed, it shouldn't be a problem for treating severe muscle strains over a short per...

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Have they both been prescribed for you?

Can you be on suboxone and take soma for severe muscle spasms and pain? ## Yes. ## I would not suggest doing so without your doctor's approval, but yes, narcotics and muscle relaxants are often prescribed together, to help control pain that one doesn't touch. Suboxone contains the active ingredient Buprenorphine, it is used to help people with drug addiction and to treat some cases od severe pain. Soma contains the active ingredient Carisoprodol, it is a muscle relaxant. Taking the two, together, my aggravate the side effects, which can include: nausea, drowsiness, constipation and dizziness. You can read more about them here: Did you have any other questions? ## Yes, Im rxed both Flexeril, soma, and 16mg Suboxone EDay and Im told by my pharmacist and doc. to use either the flex...

How many 8mg/2mg suboxone does a person take in a day? ## Hello, Cathy! How are you? You should always follow your doctor's dosing instructions. The right amount can vary from person to person, depending on the drug they were abusing and how much of it they were taking. The highest recommended dosage is 32/8mgs daily. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have had 6 neck surgeries need another and have 4 disc that are messed up my Dr prescribed me 3 80 mg oxycotin 3percocet and 4 soma a day and I want to get off them an get on suboxine so I ...

Using 20 mg morphine sulfate 1x a day along with tramadol, nucynta, soma, voltaren, lexapro, for approx 5 yrs. Talking about suboxone treatment. Im not clear on why. Have not been diagnosed ad an addict. Follow presriptions directions. This usage is due to chronic lumbar back pain. Severe DDD. Can you help me understand why they are considering Suboxone. They want me to stop all prescriptions and start the suboxone? ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Suboxone does help some people with severe pain and some doctors also want to use it to see where someone's pain levels are, without all the other medications. They can better evaluate the next treatment steps for where to go. The FDA lists this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the p...

I am trying to be supportive of someone who is addicted to pills (oxy, perc, vic-anything opiate). I thought I had an addictive personality until I watched him self destruct and lose everything for these things. He went to a 7day treatment center. And is now taking Suboxone. I used to do a lot of diff. pills when I was younger. Not even sure what they all were, I'm thinking mostly nerve and muscle relaxers, boyfriend used to just be like, here take these. I know we did somas, zanis and klonipin for sure, otherwise, don't really know. Took zanis about everyday, then we made a baby :) lol. Accident of course. Anyways, I am tempted just to try a Percocet just to see how it makes me feel. I just can't imagine losing everything I ever had for those things. At any rate, he is on S...

I have been prescribed to soma for six years I take five a day 350 mg and I also take one 8 mg Suboxone a day is that safe to take spaced apart??? ## You should not take 5 Soma's a day? Taking Suboxone with other drugs that make you sleepy or slow your breathing can cause dangerous or life-threatening side effects. Ask your doctor before taking Suboxone with a sleeping pill, narcotic pain medicine, muscle relaxer, or medicine for anxiety, depression, or seizures ## @Diane, Just wanted to validate that Eddy's advice is spot on and in alignment with what I'm finding on drug interaction checkers. Umm.edu specifically mentions that there's a "high interaction potential" between these two drugs, whereas using the two together may increased your risk for certain side e...

Had sciatica problems for years now..my family dr prescribed me soma 350 2/DAY BUT Now my suboxone dr wants to cut me down on my suboxone because of the soma. My point is, i have no harmful effects (feeling strange,dizziness,etc.. ).. i dont think its fair that i have to loose one medication because my dr gave me something. That actually HELPS with my bk(sciatica nerve problems)!! What should i do, what should i tell my suboxone dr. To make her understand!!?? ## Hello, Ceeps! How are you? Your doctor is perfectly correct in being concerned. Suboxone, Klonopin and Soma can all cause depression of the c...

Hello, I'm starting the prerequisite withdrawal period before my first suboxone appointment. I would desperately like to know if I can take a xanax or maybe a soma during this period to ease symptoms? Thanks so much for your time... ## Due to the nature of your question, this may be something best answered by your doctor who can make a more informed decision based on your medical records, current health, age, weight, whether or not you're taking any other medications, etc. However based on my research, as long as you're not taking the xanax or soma with suboxone at the same time, you should be fine. Reason being is that there are drug interactions between those medications that may result in increased side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. ...

I had gastric bypass in 2010 and am considered a rapid metabolizer for opiates. I have 5 herniated discs in my lower back and nerve disease and stay in constant pain. I have been to 9 pain management docs bc no one wants to take on my case and is scared to prescribed the amounts of medication I need to get through the day. I have tried physical therapy, injections and acupuncture all to no avail. I have a great doc now who is at least trying to help me and currently has me on dilaudid, soma, Lyrica, and suboxone patches most are three and six times daily. I have 5 children and that allows me to function daily with less pain than without. With the metabolizing issue I have no side effects or withdrawal symptoms when taken off, only with the soma I had to cut down to 1/2 of 350 mg 3 times...

I am almost 33 and suffer from severe chronic pain. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis. I also believe there may be further issues. I have been on Vic Noroco soma and even suboxone. I am currently not prescribed anything and going through hell. I need a good doctor near warren michigan who is going to figure out exactly what needs to be done to manage my pain. Most days I can hardly move. I am desperate I have two young boys that need me to be active. ## Hello, Kerri! How are you? If you require treatment on a long-term ongoing basis, due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, you'll need to see a specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, that would actually be the quick and easy way to get the help you need, because they can refer you t...

Please let me know as i dont want anything to happen to her. Thanks. ## Most likely ur friend will be ok, Soma is and can b rxed w/ suboxone. As for the snorting part, tell her to knock that off as she is wasting her soma. To get the most out of ur soma it can be easily swallowed for around 85-90% BAv. snorting is not always best as it messes up the cilia in ur nose and also shes not getting but maybe 60% if shes lucky so if she has the 350 shes only getting a max of 200mg per pill when she could pop a few and get more out of her medication- Just letting U kno! But don't worry as Im rxed and on 3 350mg somas, and 16mg's subox right now and feel fine. also, if she stoped the subox, the soma would work better alone as it metabolizes into an old school pain med from the 50s and 60s...

Id like to know how long 8mg suboxone fillm can be detected in a urine screen. I have been taking pain meds (oxycontin, vicodin and soma) for well over six years due to multiple hip revisions, back to back staph infections and recently I broke my low back at L3, L4, L5 resulting in a lumbar spine fusion from L2 thru S1. The pain from the back surgery is so great I will double up or even triple the opioid pain meds causing me to run short before the due refills. On a Tues, Wed and Thurs I did one 8mg Suboxone per day and now have an appt with a pain mgt Dr the next Thursday the following week. My question is will the Suboxone show on a urine screen 7days after my last strip of Suboxone with the pain mgt Dr ? ## I honestly think it will! ## Did it show up? I have same situation and go get...

What caused a dirty urine test for methamphetamine? I tested positive for methamphetamine which I don't do. I take trazodone, methadone, thyroxine, vic's and soma from my Dr. I have been taking allergy meds over the counter. I have another urine test in a week. ## My dad has been taking trazodone for years. He's on suboxone and they just said he was positive for methamphetamine. He's almost 70. Could it have gave him a false test?
