I took 60 mgs of methadone sat morning at 8 am... today is monday 4 pm. Am I ok to take 4 mgs of suboxone today? ## It really depends on how long you have been on the methadone and the dose you are at. If your only dose was 60mgs of done sat morning and you haven't take any done before or after that I say your good. If you take 60 everyday you may want to wait day or two more. better safe than sorry...and you will be sorry. ## I took about 15 mgs of methadone for 4 days then just 5 mgs this morning at 8:30am.. Am I safe to take 2 mgs of suboxone now only being 6 hrs? I feel sick with withdrawal symptoms now anyway.. ## Jdub, NO ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Unless you want to endure precipitated withdrawal syndrome. You must wait at least 72 to 96 hours MINIMUM to safely transition to sub. ## Y...

An hour later I was sick and 5 hours later sick again, I feel like s***! I want to go back to methodone asap!! When would be safe to take some methadone? Honest answers plz. I really do not want to be sick again. I cant handle this! Thanks x. ## I have been on 16 milligrams of subutex similar to suboxone for 2 months today I start methadone at 35 million liters this is 24 hours after my last dose of Suboxone and at this moment I'm starting to feel the effects of methadone so in my opinion 24 hours is sufficient time to switch over. ## Hi Amanda - just i...

I tried taking a suboxone 2 days after my last dose of methadone but am now in withdrawal. Can I take methadone now to bring me out? ## @JD To my knowledge there shouldn't be a problem with taking methadone "after" suboxone. Apparently if it's the other way around (suboxone "after" methadone), only then would you have to wait it out for several days in order to avoid being put into immediate withdrawals. I've also seen comments from other patients going from suboxone to methadone within a 24 hour period who said that they were completely fine and didn't experience any problems with sickness or withdrawal. But if you have personal experience going through this process that may be any different from what I've witnessed, please do post your feedback on t...

How long after taking 8mg suboxone can u take methadone ## Hello, Michael! How are you? It usually takes about 3 days, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## BE CAREFUL! Precipitated withdrawl will happen if you take it too soon. I don't know your dose of methadone you have tapered off the Half-Life of that poison is @least 72 hrs or more. Depends on alot. How much how long how you metabolized the stuff. I speak from experience. Personally I would give it a wk.Good luck! ## A doctor at a methadone clinic once told me I can go right from Suboxone to methad...

I took 20mg methadone 36 hours ago and 10mg 28 hours ago. I dont feel really sick yet but a little anxious. Is it safe to administer 2mg of suboxone right now or do I need to wait longer? ## Hello, Zeke! How are you? You need to be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone. Otherwise, the Naloxone in it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Wait longer. Methadone is still in you. Methadone takes at minimum 70 hrs to get out of u for Subs to work. You should get Subutex it's Suboxane with ...

I am having some serious withdrawals this early morning. I just took an 8 mg of Suboxone at 4 am and I wanna go to the Methadone clinic at 5 am. Will I be able to take a dose of Methadone at that time or will it not mix well with the Suboxone strip? ## No, you'll need to be off the Suboxone for about 72 hours, before you can take Methadone, or it won't work. The Buprenorphine in it takes a stronger hold on the opiate receptors than the others do, plus the Naloxone neutralizes other opiates. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No, you will go through precipitated withdrawals and feel like...

I got off my subs for a month and went back to full antagonists thinking I was gonna have gall bladder surgery. I can't take the opiates anymore so I went back to my subs two days ago after being on methadone for about two weeks. My question is why do I still feel so so weak and I'm not familiar with methadone, so thinking it's still in my system maybe and the two are fighting it out ??? ## Because methadone has such a long half life, I think your assumption is probably correct in that the two medications may be fighting it out on your receptors so to speak - potentially causing side effects such as weakness. MedsChat has a drug half life calculator on the home page here that estimates how long a specific drug/dosage remains in your body after certain time intervals; whereas...

Been on methadone for 8yrs haven't had any for almost 40 hrs got 4mg suboxen strip when can I take it? ## You should follow your doctor's dosing instructions. You must be in full withdrawal, before taking Suboxone, otherwise it may throw you into dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I took a 8 mg suboxone this morning about 10:00 am not due to withdrawal . just for a little energy . but I take 35mg's of liquid methadone on Saturdays . nothing else in between . wondering if I can take the methadone on...

I usually take methadone and I couldn't find my medicine, I cut a suboxone strip and cut it into 4 pieces and I took a 1/4 of it at like 11 am and I feel horrible my body is aching plus I found my methadone so since I just took a 1/4 of a strip I can take my methadone and it help my boddy , and withdrawals???? ## No, the Naloxone in the Suboxone has likely started some precipitated withdrawals and now will prevent the Methadone from having any effect for about 72 hours. Have you consulted your doctor for assistance? The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

I have been on morphine for about 7 weeks. I take about 100 to 200mg a day. I am about to switch to methadone in the morning. I am going to take 30mg tomorrow morning and 20mg the next morning. Then on the third day I plan on switching to suboxone. I only have 6mg of suboxone to take on the third day. But my question is, Is it safe to take the 6mg of suboxone 24 hrs after taking the methadone for two days,(30mg the first day and 20mg the second day)?? I'm scared to death of going into precipitated withdrawal when I switch to the suboxone, but I can't get any more methadone and all I have is the 6mg of suboxone. I'm ready to stop the morphine for a while. Rehab is not an option and neither is more morphine, I'm broke. ## Actually no, it wouldn't be safe to take the Su...

I took 15 milgrams of methadone after not taking any in over 2 years am I ok to take a piece of a suboxson ## The answer to this may be different for each individual (as far as how long to wait), but if it were me I'd probably try to wait 3 days for methadone to be excreted, due to it's long half-life. Other patients on here may feel differently though. Based on your situation I have a feeling you'll be alright to take suboxone sooner than later, but if in doubt I would still encourage you to contact your prescribing doctor first, just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps!

I want to be back on methadone and am on suboxone - should I wait or take it while on suboxone? ## I want to know when can I feel the methadone after taking suboxone for two years ## Only your doctor will really be able to answer this, because it can vary from person to person and, of course, will also depend on your Suboxone dosage as to how much of the Naloxone that you've been taking. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You will need to wait awhile, but precisely how long can vary. What dosage have you been taking and for how long? ## Randy, do not understand why you want to go back on methadone. I was on it for 20 years and just this year was slid ...

What is the difference between suboxone and methadone? ## The active ingredients are very different, though both are opiate based and are used to treat severe pain as well as addiction. ## Dear Comments Submitted, Verwon is right, they r both opiate based. But the methadone helps much better with pain. (Believe me) I've been on both. After almost 5 years on methadone, I had 2 go on subs. Thought i was all set tapering down from methadone. Couldn't take the withdrawals or the pain. I went from 110mg to 24mg, then, I lost it. Anyway, like I said, methadone does work better 4 pain. They r both addictive. The good thing about subs is u don't have 2 go 2 a clinic, everyday. U find a good Dr and get take homes. ## i have been on both methadone and suboxone and they are very diffre...

Hi I have been on suboxone for four weeks, before that I was on methadone for five years. I decided to try kratom to stop the suboxone but it isn't really doing much and I feel really lethargic and headaches. I took about 4-5gram of kratom at 8am, it's now 1:40pm"..I want to take some suboxone, will I get sick? Precipitated withdrawals? I've seen some people say they take suboxone after kratom and are fine, but, there isn't much out there on the topic. I just don't wanna get sick for I have a three ur old boy and Christmas is in two days ## I got no response but ended up taking 2mg suboxone at 2:30 and was fine...took another 1mg a little later and still fine...just a bit of a headache but I always get that from sunoxone ## It seems like no one can really answer ...

My wife has been on methadone for the last 6 years dosing 120mg per day. Something happened and she ran out of medicine and doesn't get any more until 4 days from now. She took her last dose of 80mg yesterday morning. 3 hours ago (36 hrs after the last dose of methadone) she was just beginning withdrawal and took about 3mg of a Suboxone strip thinking the sub would help get her through the next 4 days until she re-upped on her methadone. Unfortunately, she has gone into severe withdrawals. From what I've read so far, there isn't much we can do about it. My worry is that she doesn't get her methadone for 4 days and Idk how bad off she is going to be until then. She has about 9mg of Suboxone left. I wonder if she should take it over the next few days or what and how will i...

I was on methadone and haven't had any since monday. I've been taking percocet to help with withdrawal. I took 10 mg of percocet at about 4:00 this morning. How long till i can take a suboxone? ## how long after taking percocet can i take suboxone ## 4 days ## You should follow your doctor's prescribing instructions. In order to take Suboxone, you have to be in full withdrawals from other opiates, because otherwise the Naloxone in it could throw you into very dangerous withdrawals. Learn more Suboxone details here.* Thus, there is no set time frame for when to start treatment, because the onset of full withdrawals can vary from person to person, depending on how their body handles it. Some people may end up in full withdrawals within 12 hours, or it could be 4 days for other...

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you made the switch, yet? Can you take methadone 16 hours after taking a little less then half of a 8mg Subutex? ## Yes, but you may not feel the methadone. And it's the other way around, taking methadone then subutex can cause problems. ## I have been on suboxone for about three weeks and ran out, but went 4 days without then took 5 mg of methadone because that was all I had left. But it's been 19 hours since then. Can I take subutex again now or have to wait?
