My doctor just prescribe me 100 mg of gabapentin 3 times a day. I've been taking it 2 days now and I've had no pain relief and no side affects. Should I try taking two at one time? I'm on medicaid and my Dr. Has like a bajillion patients and I can never get a hold of him. II'm always on hold for 30 minutes so I figured I'd ask here. I'm also taking 10/325 norco and 20 mg of prednisone ## Hello, Jes! How are you? I think you may be misunderstanding, this isn't actually an analgesic. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that has been found to help with certain types of nerve pain, due to the way it acts on brain chemicals. So, it's not going to work in just 2 days, it will take about a month, before you know whether or not it is going to help you at the current ...

Can you take a 300mg dose of gabapentin with a piece of a suboxone strip (about 2mgs)? I wanted to know before I mixed both. ## Hello, Jen! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, so that should fine, as long as your doctor approves and it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA classifies Suboxone as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Gabapentin may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was prescribed gabapentin and suboxone together by my dr. I ended up s...

can i take 4,300mg gabapentin at one time instead of 4 times a day ## No, it should be taken at the dosing intervals that your doctor insructed. The reason this is done is to maintain a constant level of the medication in your body throughout the day. That does not happen, if you take a large dose at once and then nothing else for the rest of the day. Learn more Gabapentin details here. Is there anything else I can help you with?

I am currently taking Meloxicam 7.5. Can I take Soma and Gabapentin together for severe back pain? ## Gabapentin does not work like other analgesics, so it will not alleviate pain like they do. It is actually an anticonvulsant that the FDA has approved to treat certain types of nerve pain, but it takes about 4 to 5 weeks to start helping. Soma may help, if your medical provider has approved of your taking it, but you may experience more side effects than usual, according to NIH reports, which could include nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## When was your Soma prescribed? It may be expired. If so, dispose of it properly grind it up in cat litter. Never flush expired medication. You can ask your Pharmacy or local pain management office...

Any one suggest what to use for very bad sciatica taking gabapentin 900mg and paracetamol can u takevitamin c and any other vitamins with gabapentin x thanx ## Based on my research, Gabapentin does not list any drug interactions with food or drinks other than alcohol. So there shouldn't be any problems taking it along with some multivitamins. Vitamins and minerals however are in just about every type of food/drink that is on the planet, other than junk food. So if there was an interaction of some kind everyone on this drug wouldn't be able to eat; which would be quite unfortunate Lol. Regarding other treatment options, I've heard a lot of good things about "infrared light therapy" devices/treatments being used for this type of nerve pain. Perhaps that's something...

My doctor told me if you're on suboxene or subutex it's not a good idea to mix it with gabapentin. Why is this because I was taking gabapentin for 15 years ## Hello, Tessa! How are you? It is due to the depression of the central nervous system that can occur, when they are taken together, according to the FDA, it could result in respiratory distress, coma, respiratory failure, heart failure and possibly death. It is just best to avoid the combination, if other choices are available. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Why are you saying to one person it is ok to take gabapentine with suboxone and another that they shouldn't?? ## Hi Tessa some doctors are ok with it while some don't like doing it.my doctor said I could take gabapentine instead of my Lyrica with my ...

I have started taking gabapentin 100mg twice a day. When is the best time to take it. Do the side effects go away or do you just have to put up with them? ## Hi sarah, Dosing schedules for Gabapentin are largely dependent upon your reasons for taking it. (i.e. - the usual adult dose for Epilepsy is as follows): Initial dose: 300 mg orally on day one, 300 mg orally twice a day on day two, then 300 mg orally 3 times a day on day three. Maintenance dose: 900 to 1800 mg orally in 3 divided doses. If necessary, the dose may be increased using 300 mg or 400 mg capsules three times a day up to 1800 mg/day. Dosages up to 2400 mg/day have been well tolerated in long-term clinical studies. Doses of 3600 mg/day have also been administered to a small number of patients for a relatively short durati...

I have been taking gabapentin 300mg as an orange capsule. New script filled with small yellow and white capsule with APO on yellow and 113 on white. Is this also 300mg gabapentin? ## Yes, same drug, just manufactured by a different company. When a drug is available for generic production, it will be made by many different companies and since the way the medication looks is entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer, they will all look different.

I've been prescribed 10mg targin with 600mg of Gabapentin , can I take a Vicodin a couple of hrs later to help relieve nerve pain ... I don't want to overdose .. ## Hello, Nina! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. You should stick with one or the other, since both Targin and Vicodin contain Acetaminophen, taking too much of it daily, or in any 8 hour period could result in overdose toxicity, which may be fatal. I could also be dangerous to double up on the narcotics, as well. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. My name is Sara. I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and crohns. I take prednisone and 50 mg tramadol. I've also been prescribed cyclobenzaprine for muscle spasms. Im super sensitive to medications and im allergic to penicillin sulfa toridol, cant take nsaids as I'm allergic to shell fish. Im terrified to start the Gabapentin for spinal and nerve pain. Im afraid i will have a reaction to it. Its 300 mg every 8 hrs. Any advice or reassurance? ## Sara It's surprising that you can tolerate tramadol since that's very similar to the NSAID family. One would think tramadol would cause the same effects that NSAIDs do.Gabapentin is a drug extremely effective for nerve pain unfortunately it has a host of side effect that many find bothersome. can you take 20mg of Dexmethylphenidate with 100 mg Gabapentin? I want to make sure that my son can take both at the same time or should I wait until his meds are wear off. my son takes Dexmeth early morning and another one at 2pm and Gabapentin at nights at 9 pm. the 2 pm dexmeth is only a 15mg. ## Hello, Tricia! How are you? The Dexmethylphenidate can increase the effects of the Gabapentin, but it is not considered a dangerous interaction, it is only listed by the FDA as being a minor one. Thus, he may experience more nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth than usual, so he should only take them both if they have been prescribed for him. Is there anything else I can help with?

Have been using gabapintin 1200mg-2000mg aday for oxcycodone withdrawals its helping but im afraid of becoming addicted to it, want to start weaning off and try clonidine... On day 4 will this be dangerous ## To answer your first question, I did find that there are (moderately unsafe) interactions between Clonidine and Gabapentin (so it wouldn't be wise to take a full dose of each one together). Information that I've gathered on this states the following: "MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients. MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially exc...

I have been taking way too much gabapentin for several years now. I started taking it to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms from suboxone. Then I started taking more and more and found out that stopping gabapentin has its own terrible withdrawal. I take about twenty 600mg gabapentin pills a day. More or less depending on how much I have. When I run out the withdrawal is pretty bad but what's worse is that it lasts way too long. It takes at least the days to get through the worst of it. I could just really use some help. Does suboxone help alleviate gabapentin/lyrica withdrawal symptoms? ## A slow taper is usually the best and safest way to stop, since an abrupt withdrawal could create the risk of seizures, according to the FDA, along with nausea, fever, chills, anxiety, rebound pain...
