Can I Take Fentanyl And Methadone

been with same pm dr. for 4 years has recently retired and now have no dr or meds combination of fentanyl patch 75mcgs and 4 10 mg methadone tablets a day worked wonders for me 0 pain level now I have to start all over really scared of withdrawalsWL ## Withdrawal does have the potential of being very dangerous, thus I'd advise you to seek emergency medical assistance if it happens and you find yourself showing any severe withdrawal symptoms. Did your doctor not refer you to another doctor for assistance? Are there any other pain management clinics in your area? What is your general location? If you can post back with that information, someone may be able to suggest a good doctor in your area.

I've been on both fentanyl and methadone for 14 years this has been the only combination to keep my pain in check.I only use the done for breakthru pain and it is doing its job.I've tried more pain meds than I can count and I found one that works.just take it right!!! ## Hello, Missylynn! I have been on Methadone for about 5 years. I had an addiction to oxycontin and the went on methadone to quit. My highest dose was 120mg and I have managed to wean myself down to 17mg. The problem is I am having a really hard time getting off of it. Doing some reading I have learned that methadone is one of the worst for trying to quit. I have a perscription for 12mcg/h fentanyl for back pain which I havent been using but was thinking about quiting the methadone and using the patch instead so when I eventually drop it the withdraws won't be as bad. Is a 25mil fentanyl patch as strong as 40 mil of methadone? ## From what I've read online, fentanyl is reportedly much stronger than methadone. But because the forms of administration are two worlds apart (one being a transdermal patch and the other being a pill), I honestly don't think there's such thing as an "equivalent dose" between the two; especially since each medication effects people differently. I have been weaning myself off Methadone! I was taking 10mgs 3 times a day. I am now down to less than one tablet a day and will continue until I can say goodby Methadone and I never want to see you again. Now to my real problem. Last week my doctor gave me the Fentanyl 25 MCG/HR Patch MYL. I need something to help with the pain I still have, although the Lyrica and Cymbalta have really helped. I did not know when she gave the Fentanyl Patch to me that I would have to taper off and that it carried baggage of bad side affects. I am currently on 54 ml. of Ordine 10, 150 mg Fentanyl patch, and 80 mg Targin, equivalent to about 1,200 mg of morphine a day. My pain specialist wants me to change to methadone or suboxone. i am on oxycodone 15mg 4 times a day and 30mgs of methadone. I now added a 75mg patch of Fentanyl. Will the patch work? Will i feel the patch? It's been on for 3 hours and i don't feel any different. ## I'm on 30 to 40 mgs of methadone daily and 15 mgs of oxycodone daily. I ran out of my meds and cant fill my them until tomorrow. I was given 2 x 75mgs fentanyl patches to use for 24hrs. I can fill my meds tomorrow morning. I used one of the patches and i just put the other one on. Some of these side effects can be pretty horrible, so I don't blame anyone for trying to find an alternative. I was just taking fentynal 37.5 each day and found myself abusing it. I couldn't get enough. I was in an accident in 2013 and put on fentynal. I'm also an addict. Now I need to get off fentanyl because I'm addicted to it, I was abusing it and going thru the prescription fast and having a hard time finding a doctor to prescribe it to me. It is actually wanted by the users from what I have heard. Please be careful everyone. There has been growing numbers of OD including an epidemic not too long ago where more then 3 died from the cutting of F (too much) with hours in the same hotel.
