I was taking 2 Percocet/4hours for 5 days. I had a knee replacement. But yesterday I started to scale back and only taking 1/4hours. I have also started to become nauseous. Is that because I lowered my dose or because there is now a lot in my system? Also, can the 2 Percocet/ 4 hours taken for 5 days hurt my liver? ## Yes, that can be a withdrawal effect of lowering your dosage, according to FDA warnings. You may also experience dizziness, fever, chills, rebound pain, and diarrhea. Generally, it takes long term use of high amounts, but we are all different, so it is best to never exceed the dosing instructions. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? ## Than you. However I followed the ortho nurse instructions for changing the dose because my pain was out of control. I am doi...

I just had major surgery on my leg and have lots of pain. I was wondering if taking two 5 / 325 Percocet every four hours for pain is safe? Please let me know asap :/ ## You should not increase your dosage, without your doctor's approval. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. That's not what would be considered a dangerous dose, but it may be too much for some people that aren't opiate tolerant. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was in an accident and the prescribed dosage isn't working. I have not checked with the doctor. ## Hello, Dee! How are you? The biggest risk is actually due to the Acetaminophen that's in it, because taking too much can risk causing liver damage, or liver failure, according to the NIH. Thus, it is best not to double up your dosage, without your doctor's approval. Are you on any other medications?

I would like to know if I can take two blue Percocet 5-325 every 4 to 6 hours? I had leg surgery. ## You should follow the prescribing instructions. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, and headache. Are you on any other medications?

My Dr, has me taking percocet every 4 hours it doens't help that much I have arthritis had 2 hip replacements but still have so much pain. I see my Dr. next week just wanted a second opinion. Thank you kindly. Jeanne ## This tablet contains 10mgs of Oxycodone and 325mgs of Acetaminophen and if you're taking them every 4 hours, then you are taking 60mgs of the Oxycodone and 1,950 of the Acetaminophen in a day, which isn't necessarily a dangerous dosage of either one. What you really have to watch for is the effects it has on you and if it seems to be too much for you. Monitor your side effects, which may include: nausea, dizziness, constipation and drowsiness and if they are very severe, then you'll know if this amount is too much for you to take. Are there any other ques...

I took a percocet 10-325 at 9 pm it's now 12:45 am and was wondering if I had to wait full 6 hours or can I take another ## Hello, Crystal! How are you? The Oxycodone in Percocet can be habit forming and, if you take it more frequently than as prescribed, you also run the risk of overdose, especially due to the Acetaminophen in it. Thus, it would be best to not change your dosing frequency, without your doctor's approval. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic that may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I'm having terrible pain with kidney stones. It said to be detailed, so I hope I didn't end up rambling? I have 3 herniated discs 2 in my neck and 1 in the lower back. Also bulging discs-odd but, never heard exactly how many? Also degenerative arthritis in my entire spine and neuropathy in my feet. More too, but those are the main pain related. I'm almost 70. I have been taking 20mg Percocet 8am and 10-15mg at 4-4:30 pm. When I 1st went to the pain doctor and told him about having stomach ulcers, he put me on 25mcg Fentanyl patches. I felt nothing and no pain relief. He doubled it to 50mcg, same result. Before I went back to him, I researched Fentanyl-WOW! That scared the crap out of me, so when he said he wanted to got to 100mcg, I told him I didn't want to continue with Fentanyl. So, he actually got disgusted looking...

My mother is 74 yrs old. Had rotator cuff surgery 4 days ago. Had to take her to the ER on day two. There they gave her an IM Dilaudid shot and sent her home. Called the doctor on call the next day and ask if they could admit her for pain management, he proceeded to tell me that the insurance would not pay for it. Post-op surgery they gave her Percocet 7.5/325 1-2 every 4-6 hours for pain. To make a long story short. Two was too strong so she had the 5-325 and took two every four hours and that would help her pain level which would be tolerable at 5. This is 3900mg of tylenol. Too much in only 24 hours. So this is why I am asking if you can take the Percocet 7.5/325 every 3 hours? ## Hello, Debbie! How is your mom doing? Since this is a narcotic, the FDA warns that it carries the risk o...

Can you take Percocet 5/325 one every two hours rather than two every four hours so the pain relief stays consistent? Had surgery two days ago. ## Hello, Joesphine! How are you? I don't see why there should be a problem, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hey Joe, hope u r feeling better. Be careful on the Tylenol in that. It's 325mg per pill & u cannot exceed 4000 mg in a 24 hour period. If u do , You can have Permanent liver damage. Also if Your pain Continues notify your doctor you may be developing an infection and require a...

I shattered my ankle and broke and shattered my tibia. I had surgery about 3 weeks ago. Sometimes during the day my pain is worse and the pain starts to rage about an hour and a half to 2 hours later. In those instances would it be safe to take one more Percocet? It is not all the time. My doctor did say I could take 2 tablets every 4 hours but I don't feel like I need that much and I'm a little scared to take 2 at one time. ## Hello, Morgan! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. You can take it that way, as long as your doctor approves. However, you may want to try taking two at once, since it won't be much different from taking another a couple hours later, but it may prevent that severe pain from setting in. The FDA classifies this medication as a na...

I am a cancer patient and this amount scares me. I have never heard of taking three every 4 hrs. I have taken 2 before after my lymph node removal but never 3. Is this really safe? ## Hi Desiree, I can certainly understand your concern about taking too much Acetaminophen. 325mgs x 3 = 975mgs and then multiply that by 6 times daily (if taken every 4 hours) and you get 5850mgs of Acetaminophen - aka - a very toxic blow to your liver. Prior to 2016, the maximum daily dose of Acetaminophen was marked as high as 4000mgs... As of now, the new maximum was brought down even further to 3000mgs, to ensure liver health isn't compromised. If I were you I would not take nearly as much as was recommended; but I would encourage you to talk with the doctor about the idea of taking regular Oxycodone...

I am taking the percocet 512 white tablets 5mg/325 for severe back pain due to degenerating disc(s). I have been told 1 pill every 8 hours, but find the pain so excruciating after about 5 hours that I cannot even stand... even to use the bathroom or shower. My MD cannot get me into a specialist until August, but I am having real stress here. Will it be harmful for me to take more than the one tablet per 8 hours?? ## your comment seems strange to me brcause my MD prescribed me some of same percocet and on the bottle it says take 1 or 2 tablets every 4 or 6 hours according to pain or even as needed for pain. I have been taking 2 every 9 or 10 hours Lately, though, I realize that if I do not take a pill I start to feel pain in my shoulders, and my chest is agitated. So I just stopped takin...

I have had two tooth extractions. The pain is killing me and I am not able to sleep well because of the pain. Which medication would be better at treating my pain? Vicodin 5/325 or Percocet 2.5/325? ## In this case, the dosage of Vicodin that you have is stronger than the dosage of Percocet, so it may help more. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Please be sure to follow your dentist's instructions. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you for reply fast, that what my recent dr prescribe for 10 pills of Vicodin 5/325. Hello, my husband is taking 5 Percocet 10/325 in 6 hours. I'm afraid it is going to kill him. He has abused them also. It worries me and he fusses with me when I confront him about it. Should I be concerned? ## Yes, you have a valid reason to be concerned. Not only is that a high amount of Oxycodone to take, but the Acetaminophen in them is an even bigger concern. The limit should be no more than 1,000mgs every 8 hours and no more than 3,000mgs in any 24 hour period, anything over that risks overdose toxicity, which may be fatal! It can cause liver damage, or failure, which could result in death, as reported by the NIH. If he is taking that many at once, he needs help and his doctor should be informed of the situation. How often does he take that many?

I take Norco 5/325 daily for pain.(Scoliosis) I am having a last minute breast augmentation tomorrow & my Dr. prescribed me Percocet 5/325 for the pain. Can I alternate my meds every few hours? I'm sure it should be fine, but just checking. Don't wanna freak either of my doctors out by asking them! ## They are both very potent narcotic analgesics, neither treats any specific condition, just general pain, so you really don't need to take them both, at the same time, only one is necessary. If the surgeon wants you to take the Percocet, then that's most likely the one you should use and it should help with both the surgical and scoliotic pain. You can learn more Percocet details here. Are there any other questions I can help with? ## You should ask your Dr. before takin...

I HAD RECTACELE SURGERY. I ALSO HAVE SEVERE BACK PROBLEMS. I TAKE 1 OXYCOD/ACETAMIN EVERY 4 HOURS AS NEEDED FOR PAIN. CAN I ALSO TAKE 1 200MG IBUPROFEN WITH IT? THE OXYCOD/ACETAMIN IS 5-325MG. ## Hello, Carol! How are you? They can be taken together, as long as your doctor approves, but since the Ibuprofen can cause some blood thinning and increase your risk of bleeding, it's always best to double check with your doctor, before doing so. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I take Percocet all the time every 6 hours. This time i noticed the pill was round instead of oblong and has 230 on one side. This pill is worthless, I feel absolutely nothing. NO PAIN RELIEF AT ALL. This pill is a fake, a sugar pill or something. I paid $91 dollars cash for this, now i'm broke with no medication. There is no medical properties in this pill what so ever. I've been ripped off like some common drug pusher. How do I live now? The first thing I should do is call the FBI, then the FDA and the police too. ## What do I do? who cares?,Whom do I contact next? signed left in pain. Amneal's oxycodone, generic for percocet 10/325 is white, oblong, blank on one side, and imprinted with IP 204 (not IP 203)! I usually take Watson or Mallinckrodt, 10/325, (2) tablets every 4-6 hours (240 monthly), but I was given Amneal today when filling my script, and I am not happy! I have cancer, and I also take morphine sulphate 30 mgs as well (1 every 12 hours), and Fioricet with Codeine for severe migraines (as needed)! I do not feel Amneal is sufficient or even close to the chemical makeup as Watson or Mallinckrodt for controlling pain/chronic pain! Amneal does not act the same way on my body, and I should not have to take more for same result! I think when you pay cash for your medications, and have been on the medication for 8 years, using the same pharmacy, they should o...

Running out of the 5mg oxycodone the Dr. prescribed me 15mg every 3 hours. Now I do have 10/325mg percocet for my damaged back and the 15mg oxycodone was for my urinary tract relocation surgery which I had less than a week ago. My question is, can I take one 5mg oxycodone and one 10mg oxycodone with 325mg Tylenol to help with pain and not overdose? ## In general, that should be safe, but it depends on your overall health, other medications you may be taking, and etc. Have you contacted your doctor to ask what they feel you should do? The FDA warns that Oxycodone carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Ref: Oxycodone Information
