Are 2 mg of diaudid marked m 2 stronger than pink pill marked k 56 known as oxycodone? ## Hello, Dreamy! How are you? No, for each 2mgs of Dilaudid, you'd only need to take 5.33mgs of Oxycodone, so the 10mg Oxycodone tablet is stronger. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. What is the narcotic in dilaudid .. is it the same as oxy or hydrocodon ? Just more poteant ## Yes they are the same thing which is opiate based pain pills. some stronger than others, flyboy ## Hello, Flyboy! How are you? As listed by the FDA, Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, so yes, it is another opioid analgesic. To give a comparison on the strength from RPH, you only need .75 of Dilaudid to equal each 10mgs of Oxycodone, thus, it is much stronger. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I was on 30 mg Roxie 3x day, plus 15 mg Roxie 1x day, but doctor now changed and gave me 2 8 mg of dilaudid a day to be taken just 1/2 pill every 6 hours. Not working for me and it's almost 3 months and it's worse not better as he said I needed that time to let it all in my system. I'm really upset as pain level is back to what it was twenty years ago when I first began pain melds after bad auto accident. ## Hello, Shar! How are you? Yes, if you're maximum of the Dilaudid is 16mgs a day, then you are on a much lower dosage, rather than an equivalent one. To be equal to the 105mgs of Oxycodone that you were taking each day, you'd actually need 39mgs of the Dilaudid. Thus, it's not you, this is really nowhere near as potent. How are you? How has your doctor advised you to take them? Both of them risk causing depression of the central nervous systems and taking both will compound the problem, so you may run into dangerously low heart rate and blood pressure. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## how long will it take for my body to process 12 mg of dilaudid a day for 2 1/2 weeks? thanks!! ## Does anyone know if there are c...

Does it matter if the pill with the M on one side and the 4 on the other are either hydromorphone or dilaudid for what kind of strength or the effects you get from it? Also is there such a thing as timed release either one of those? ## Hello, James! How are you? Hydromorphone is the active ingredient in Dilaudid, so that is what the generics are called. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Hi. I was cleaning my 16 year-old son's room and found a bottle of little, round yellow pills. About 30 of them. My heart sank. I think they are dilaudid or hydromorphone, at least what I've been able to glean from the research I've done. But I am not sure; I cannot find any reference to the inscripted P on one side (4 is on the other) vs. the K or M commonly found with dilaudid. Can anyone help me identify it? ## I am sorry to hear about your findings ... and sadly, yes, the pills which you have described are Dilaudid 4 mg. The manufacturer's product sheet states "DILAUDID 4 mg TABLETS are yellow, debossed with a P on one side and the number 4 on the opposite side." (PDF format, page 18). I wish you and your son the best with this. Do you have any other question...

Does anyone know what class of narcotic dilaudid is in? (Class 1, class 2, etc.) ## Hi Sassie! I'm almost positive it's a class 2 controlled substance. U can look up Dilaudid on the web, and, it will tell u all about it. U can even look it up on this site. ## @Sassie, Just to confirm, Cats is right about Dilaudid being a Schedule II narcotic. According to usdoj.gov, substances in this schedule are notorious for their high potential of abuse; which could later lead to severe psychological and/or physical dependence. I have been taking between 30 -82 mg of oxycodone 3-4 times a day for 3 years and now my doctor wants me to start dilaudid at 8 mg and stop the oxy, but I'm afraid the dilaudid is not equal to the amount of oxy I am on and I will suffer withdrawals. My question is can I take oxy along with the dilaudid so I dont suffer w/d? If so how much oxy can I take? Thank you in advance. ## Hi deliteful, To answer your first question, dilaudid (hydromorphone) doesn't list any drug interactions with oxycodone, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to take the two together as long as you inform your doctor about it first. On the other hand, because dilaudid IS reported to be much stronger than oxycodone, it's possible that you may not even need to add oxycodone back into the mix...

No, all Dilaudid tablets available on the U.S. market would have an imprint on them, this is required by law to enable their identification in case of emergency. It is required by law to enable their identification, in case of emergency. If they have no imprint, then they are most likely an over the counter product, of some type. And yes, this is the lowest dosage available in the tablets, it contains 2mgs of the Hydromorphone, which is the active ingredient in Dilaudid, this is actually a generic medication. Are my dilaudid pills instant release ## Hello, Maxwell! How are you? No, there are no instant release Dilaudid tablets. These are 2mg regular release tablets, so they start working about 15 to 20 minutes after you take them.
