Butorphanol is a morphinan-type synthetic agonist–antagonist opioid analgesic developed by Bristol-Myers.[1][2][3][4][5] Butorphanol is most closely structurally related to levorphanol. ANOTHER WORD FOR THIS IS STADOL IT WAS GIVIN TO ME BY IV PRN EVERY 15 MINUTS AS NEEDED FOR PAIN ONCE IN ACTIVE LABOR? ## Yes Butorphanol is a synthetic opioid pain reliever. Butorphanol is a synthetic opioid agonist-antagonist analgesic with a pharmacological and therapeutic profile that has been well established since its launch as a parenteral formulation in 1978. The introduction of a transnasal formulation of butorphanol represents a new and noninvasive presentation of an analgesic for moderate to severe pain. This route of administration bypasses the gastrointestinal tract, and this is an advantage for a drug such as butorphanol that undergoes significant first-pass metabolism after oral administration. The onset of action and systemic bioavailability of butorphanol following trans...

I need to know if its still good after exp. date ## Hello, Traci! How are you? No, if it's expired, it would be best to dispose of it and obtain a new supply. Medications tend to lose effectiveness over time and liquids can actually go bad and may make you ill, if you took it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

My 8.5lb cat had 4 surgeries; 1)cystotomy, 2)pu, 3)feeding tube x2. He is finally home. If anything will go wrong everything has gone wrong with this poor cat. Now he strains to urinate and was urinating blood last night. Vet seemed to think it was a blood clot, I concur, I saw one now no more blood this a.m. Fir his straining he was prescribed butorphanol 10mg/ml. Label reads: 1cc butorphanol in 10cc lixotinic as flavor agent, give o.25-0.4cc by mouth 1-4 times daily as needed for urinary straining. At 12:30pm today, first dosage i gave him 1.0 ml, I overdosed him according to instructions. I have only had 4 hours of total sleep in 48 hours because of his situation. He has not presented with any major symptoms. He has eaten on his own, urinates better, he dies stare out the oucture window

this was prescribed for my dog ... just checking to see if it was cheaper online ## I'm sorry, but this site does not manufacture, nor sell any medications, this is an information only website. I also don't have much information on the use of medication in animals, since we primarily focus on human use. Have you consulted your vet, or tried the pet medication sites?

I have the nasal spray version of this product. I can't take oral meds as they make me throw up. This one has expired but I was tempted to take it for my chronic acute sciatica. It is two years old but it is an aerosol, so no air gets to it. ## The FDA does not recommend that you use expired medications, since they can lose effectiveness over time. You can read more about proper disposal on MedlinePlus. Thus, it would be best to dispose of it and see your doctor for new prescription. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does val torb syrup make a dog rest better? And does it have side effects? ## Torb/VAL syrup is the opioid Torbutrol (butorphanol) dissolved in V.A.L. syrup. It's usually prescribed to treat mild pain. The V.A.L. syrup is also said to contain B-vitamins, but I've heard that it is mostly added to hide Torbutrol's bitter flavor. As far as side effects go, central nervous system effects (such as sedation, confusion, and dizziness) are considerations with butorphanol. Nausea and vomiting are common. Less common are the gastrointestinal effects of other opioids (mostly constipation). If your dog has been resting a lot more than usual, it's likely due to the sedative effects of the medication. It can often make the animal extremely drowsy so be careful with its use. If need be...

My vet can't get Torbutrol anymore. Are there any pharmacies that still carry it? I have looked everywhere and can't find it. ## Torbutrol is a brand name for Butorphanol tartrate; however it very likely may have been discontinued, just as the other brand of this drug has: Butorphanol (Stadol) is a morphinan-type synthetic opioid analgesic developed by Bristol-Myers. The brand name Stadol was recently discontinued by the manufacturer. IT IS NOW ONLY AVAILABLE IN ITS GENERIC FORMULATIONS, manufactured by Novex, Mylan, Apotex and Ben Venue Laboratories and is available only as Butorphanol tartrate in IV, tablet, and intranasal spray formulations. SIDE NOTE: Butorphanol is most closely structurally related to Levorphanol - just to suggest another alternative. Based on this informat...

Can this pain med be Givin to dogs ? ## Hi Jack, Unfortunately I can't seem to find any specific details on a medication by the name of Torbutinic. Did you mean to say "Torbugesic" (butorphanol tartrate)? Torbugesic is widely recognized for veterinary use in treating pain, so I wonder if this could be what you're referring to... From what I've read, it's often used in dogs, as well as cats and horses. Hope this helps to answer your question! ## Torbutinic is when they mix a vitamin supplement with torbutol. The vitamin the use is Pet Tinic, with the torbutol name you get the name torbutinic. My dog has taken it. But the dosages would vary per dog.

small round pink pill on one side scored other side 0.5 on top 251 on bottom ## Although I can't verify my findings, research I gathered leads me to suspect that this is butorphanol (brand name: Torbugesic or Torbutrol) which is a pain medication that doubles as a cough suppressant. I don't know for certain, but it's most likely to be this. Do you happen to have any pets as well that were taken to the vet? I'm also just wondering if this is a veterinary pill for bronchitis in dogs. If this is the case, then we may have a match for butorphanol. Hope this helps! ## where did you gather your facts on this or did anybody never confirm it? ## this is Triamcinolone Triamcinolone is a long-acting synthetic corticosteroid ## No, they're slimming pills.

This medication is for my dog who has a collapsing trachea, the vet told us we may find it cheaper if we went online to fill their prescription. ## The actual medication name is Butorphanol. How much does your vet charge? You may want to look at the various veterinary medication websites to check their prices. I don't know what would be cheaper for you. ## Yeah, with a prescription you can fill it at various pet meds websites if the vet clinic is too much.

This is a very small round white pill. F D is printed on one side with a break line, 632 is the imprint on other side. ## In my investigation, the pill in description is reportedly identified as Torbutrol (Butorphanol tartrate), indicated for veterinary use in dogs to help alleviate coughing as well as acting as a sedative/pain reliever. Due to the lack of available information on this pill, I would still encourage you to get a second opinion from a local veterinary office or clinic, as there have also been rumors of this being a drug called Aminopentamide (Centrine) - which is also used in veterinary medicine for vomiting and diarrhea. I hope this info helps! Please post back if you're able to get a more concrete answer. ## Yes I believe that’s correct…had this pill for...

I have been taking Vicodin for back pain.... Is Torbutrol the same as Vicodin ? Can I take this? ## Hello, Oliver! How are you? No, they are not the same. Vicodin contains Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, while Torbutrol contains Butorphanol and you should only take it, if your doctor approves. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Val-Torb was given to my mini doxie for a chronic condition. He weighs 16 lbs and the dosage was 1.5mls 3 times a day but it made him horribly sick and shaky. As soon as I took him off he was OK. Has anyone out there had a problem with this medication? ## What this stands for is Valium, which is a Benzodiazepine that's used for its calming effect and Torbutrol (Butorphanol), which is used to relieve pain. I don't know what the dosage should be for canines, because veterinary medications are not my speciality, but it sounds like it may have been too much of the Torbutrol for him. Have you contacted your vet? A lower dose or different medication may be necessary. ## How long is Val/Torb good for? ## What long term side effects doa dog get when given Val torb long term ## I have yo...
