I'm having a severe headache and have been for 3 days. Went to Dr yesterday and they gave me a script for a headache pill but it didn't work. They also gave me a pain shot and steroid shot that didn't work! Today they called in a script for butalb acetaminophen caffeine 50 300 40 and it's not working. How long should it take for this to work or should I go to see if I need any tests ran? ## It should start to help within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, according to the NIH, since it is a regular release medication. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and stomach pain. Are you on any other medications? Has the headache eased, yet? ## I'm not on any other meds and today is the first day without a headache in 7 days .

What are the symptoms? ## Hello, From what I can gather, this combination can potentially be fatal, but you would have to ingest a very significant amount. A serious overdose of butalbital and acetaminophen may result in toxicity. Toxicity due to caffeine is less likely, due to the fairly small amounts in this formulation. The symptoms of overdosing on these medications are as follows: Butalbital: toxicity from Barbituate poisoning may include confusion, drowsiness, and coma; respiratory depression; hypotension; and hypovolemic shock. Do you think taking half a butalb will have any effect? Sorta afraid to take the whole pill... Headache is due to vertigo.. It's hard to read, but I think it's a 40mg pill. ## Hello, Jack! I have bad migraines maybe twice a week and I just had major back surgery and I also have a script for hydrocodone.....I'm not sure but I feel like I'm dragging myself around. ...I want to sleep and I feel exhausted....I know my migraine can make me tired but this is way more than normal.....is it the side effects of the 2 meds? ## Hello, Lindsey! I was just prescribed butalb acetamin caff 50 325-40. I've been having these headaches for 5 months. It starts at my nostril and radiates under my eye to the temple and back of my neck all on the side of my face. I just had a SPG Nerve Block yesterday and today it hit me hard. As detailed by the NIH, these types of medication usually start to work within 15 to 20 minutes of taking them, so relief should be felt soon after. I am having surgery on my nose and need to know if this medication thins your blood? ## Hello, Jef! How are you? The Acetaminophen in this can cause some blood thinning, but not as much as NSAIDs. I'd suggest checking with your surgeon to see if you need to stop taking it. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, nervousness and insomnia. My Nurse Practitioner wants me to take Lyrica 75mg. every day for pain. Looked up the side effects & am very apprehensive about this drug. Is anyone on here familiar w/ this drug?
