is this medication appropriate for treatment of swelling in the ethmoid sinus? ## Although this medication is used a pain reliever for headaches (containing Butalbital, Acetaminophen, and Caffeine) I don't think it has anti-inflammatory properties. That said, I don't know if it would actually help with swelling, although it should relieve some of the pain. ## Butalb-Acetaminophen was prescribed for my severe frontal lobe/ sinus headaches. The Prescription reads "take one tablet every 6-8 hours as needed for headache". Well, they're 100% right on! If yoy WANT a headache that lasts 6-8 hours after administering, take one! It was a NIGHTMARE of pain and icepacks for me.

i have been prescribed butalb-apap-caff 50-325-40 tab as part of an epilepsy seizure treatment. directions are take one tablet every 4 hrs as needed for pain but not more than 3 days in a row. can anyone explain the reason for taking not more than 3 days in a row? ## I can't speak for your doctor and their specific reasoning for it, but there are usually several reasons that these instructions may be included and I can inform you what some of those are. One reason would be the risk of it masking other serious symptoms, for instance, if you're taking so much of something to relieve pain that you're not realizing that your pain is getting a lot worse and requires another look by a medial professional. There are also other symptoms that may be masked, such as worsening seizures...

I am pregnant and I'm taking butalbital + apap (325mg) + caffeine. My doctor says it's ok. Can I take tylenol along with it? ## Do NOT take Tylenol or any other brand of acetaminophen with any other drug containing it. You can accidentally overdose. FDA has recently come out with a "black box" warning about this. Please do a search for Butalbital and you should find the same article regarding acetamenophin and the FDA. ## Diane is correct, in this medication, APAP is just medical speak for Acetaminophen. You can read more about the dangers of overdosing on it here NCBI Acetaminophen Hepatoxicity. Why do you feel you also need Tylenol?

I've been taking these for nearly 15 years. Are these two the same? One says butalbital/acetaminophen/caff tabs the other says but/apap/caf codeine the first one in a pill white round v on one side 3220 on other side the next one is a cap. Blue and white with 3220 on the white part ## Hi Bri, From what I could gather, the blue and white capsule marked with WATSON on the blue half and 3220 on the white half, reportedly contains 325mgs of Acetaminophen + 50mg of Butalbital + 40mg of Caffeine + 30mg of Codeine. The other pill you mentioned with a marking of V 3220 doesn't seem to exist when I go to look it up. my primary dr prescirbed the "butal acet caff" one in Dec 2013 & then my nuerologist said it had aspirin in it so she gave me the "butalbital apap caffeine" today jan 2014 I take coumadin & my blood work has been messed up since dec. anyone know what is the difference between them ## There is no difference between the two you listed, APAP is just medical speak for Acetaminophen, which is what the acet stands for, not Aspirin as the neurologist thought. As to your blood work, what do you mean by messed up? Is your INR fluctuating greatly? ## I have had 3 cervical fusions for a farm injury that resulted in chronic Migraines. The Butalbital with aspirin (ASA) works exponentially better for me than version with acetaminophen.

is hydroco/apap 5-325 mg stronger than BUTALBITAL, ACETAMINOPHEN, CAFFEINE, AND CODEINE tablets i have BUTALBITAL, ACETAMINOPHEN, CAFFEINE, AND CODEINE tablets for migraine headaches. I had a very bad fall and hurt my arm, shoulder and knee. they gave me hydroco/apap 5-325 mg for the pain. Which of the two is stronger for pain relief? ## Hello, Ann! How are you? Codeine is actually very weak, so for that type of pain, you'll most likely be better off with the Hydrocodone that they've prescribed, it is much stronger and better able to handle the pain from an injury, such as that which occurred due to your fall. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is ...
