Hi, my dr prescribed this for me for anxiety. At first I was hesitant because I read about the bad side effects you can get (brain zap, uncontrollable movements, etc) but I have finally decided to try it. He said start off 5mg 2x a day. My anxiety mostly presents itself with racing heart, palpitations, tightness in chest. Does buspar help calm these things down? I am also on Xanax, which helps a great deal, but I am hoping this i can take in the day time to help ease my symptoms. I just am scared of the side effects. Any experience would help. Thanks! ## Yes, it can help with those symptoms, but the only way to see if it will work for you is by trying it. For some people, it is better than Xanax, or other benzodiazepines, because you take it all the time to help keep symptoms under cont...

Does buspars make anyone else angry? ## Hello, Billy! How are you? How long have you been taking it? Sometimes, these anxiolytics can cause symptoms like that for the first few weeks that you are taking them, while your body is adjusting. After 3 to 4 weeks, your body usually adjusts and it starts having its intended effect. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache and feeling nervous/excited. However, if you've been taking it for over a month and are still experiencing this, then it may not be the right medication for you and you should speak to your doctor about trying something else.

Is the drug class of buspar related to that of clonopins & xanax? ## No, it is not. Buspar contains the active ingredient Buspirone, which is an anxiolytic. It is in a different chemical class, azapirone and isn't considered habit forming. Learn more Buspar details here. So i’m just wondering if i’m able to take 3 month expired buspar? I haven’t been sleeping again due to my anxiety spiking up super bad at night causing me to have panic attacks in my sleep.. i haven’t been able to go to the doctor and they can’t fit me in until next month but I found my old Prescription that has the date to discard as 2/4/22. Will they still help me sleep?? ## Most medications that have been expired for a short time are still ok to take. Few, if any develop any kind of dangerous issue. Typically, the med begins to lose efficacy. I’m not a doc, or a pharmacist, and I would suggest you call a pharmacist and run this situation by them. ## What Beth stated is correct, this Buspar does not become dangerous, once expired, but it may begin t...

Yes-what is the major difference between these 2 meds? I have taken xanax for several years. I'm thinking abt. changing to Buspar. Can you switch meds like these without tapering off the xanax. Does Buspar help w/ Panic attacks? ## Hi, I wanted to address the panic attacks you are experiencing. Often panic attacks and anxiety are the body's natural reaction to telling us something has gone wrong that needs to be addressed. It is usually some form of trauma that has happened in our life that creates the panic attacks and anxiety. Medication numbs the symptoms but do not address the root of the problem. Have you considered going into therapy to see what is causing the panic attacks and anxiety? ## buspar is suppose to be taken everyday its taken to level u out....zanax are suppose...

buspar is amazing ... helps me out with all types of anxiety including panic attacks ... but you have to tell yourself you will be just fine... breath and relax ... I know its scary but if something bad is going to really happen to you ... its going to happn even if you worry ... so why worry? <3 ## Thanks for keeping us posted on how this medication has been working for you! Not many patients post reviews of how they like something and are usually complaining about side effects, so hats off to you on finding something that works! I think your perspective on coping with "panic attacks" is great. If something undesirable is going to happen then there's really no point in trying to get worked up about it; as being in a bad frame of mind may just make the situation worse th...

Is it safe to take 100mg of Pristiq and 10mg of Buspar and 250mg of Seroquel together? I didn't know how much serotonin all those combined would be or if those 3 meds are ok to take together. Thanks! ## Hello, Beka! How are you? Have they all been prescribed for you? Two that can raise your serotonin levels are the Pristiq and the Buspar. It isn't that they can't be taken together, but that your doctor should carefully adjust the dosage and they should be monitoring your regularly in case any problems develop. According to the FDA the symptoms for Serotonin syndrome may possibly include increased heart rate, shivering, sweating, dilated pupils and twitching. They will also be of very rapid onset.

yellow pill long bar shaped ## Hydrocodone and Buspar are two separate medications. I don't believe that they come combined. Are you trying to figure out if your pill is one or the other? ## A long bar shaped pill is more than likely the Buspar Dividose tablets, and you are correct, they don't come combined.

My doctor wants me to take BuSpar instead of Paroxetine. Can someone please help explain the differences and what would be better? ## Which one is preferred depends on the condition being treated, and its severity. Hi out there! I suffer from a panic disorder and am prescribed Zoloft and Buspar. I recently lost my insurance and have not been able to afford my Zoloft, so needless to say, that I have been going through a type of withdrawal. Which, in turn, brings on wild panic attacks. I've my Buspar becasue it's cheaper. My question is, has anyone ever taken the maximum dosage (60 mg) at once to help with the panic attack. I have to take 20mg three times a day. But, I am really struggling and I wonder if taking 40 or 60 mg at once will calm me down. Thanks for the input and the support ## Hello, Mase! How are you? No, taking that much at once is generally not recommended. Are you getting the generic Zoloft? If so, then it really shouldn't be that expensive. However, if it, then you may ...

I take 15mg of buspar 3X a day.Now my pharmacy is telling me there supplier is back logged with orders of buspar, and it will be at least 4 weeks before they will carry it again, and I should find a replacement for it.Does anyone know of a medication I could Use in place of buspar? ## I just wanted to make a change to my former post.It should read "a back log of 4 month's not weeks" Thanks, Rick ## Holy cow, that would be a long time to go without. And as to what else might be able to replace it, there are quite a few antidepressants that can treat anxiety, such as Zoloft, which contains the active ingredient Sertraline. Learn more Zoloft details here. Another option would be a Benzodiazepine, such as Xanax. Learn more Xanax details here. Has your doctor made any suggestions?

I’ve been taking Buspar about two years. I ran out while my doctor was on vacation and I noticed my legs were hurting and very weak. I was in the hospital about two weeks ago and I ran out again and was trying not to take buspar at all. I can barely walk!! My doctor gave me Requip. It knocks me out and does not seem to help. I guess I will start back on buspar. I don’t know what to do. ## It is possible that you are experiencing some withdrawal symptoms from stopping it abruptly. Buspar withdrawal symptoms could also include nausea, weight changes, mood changes, and rebound anxiety. Are you on any other medications? Have you consulted your doctor about possibly tapering off of it slowly?

I may have accidentally taken a Buspar instead of my Xanax and experienced severe visual hallucinations for about 2 hours afterwards would this be possible from Buspar? It was a stupid thing to do but I ran out of my Xanax and my friend gave me what I thought was Xanax bars which I have never done before. ## Yes, it is not a common side effect, but the FDA does list it as being reported from those taking this medication. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and nervousness. What are the markings on the bars you took?
