An 18 year old boy with systic fibrosis was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. The culture returned positive for B. capacia. How should his condition be managed? ## Burkholderia generally causes Meliodosis, which is known to be fatal in most cases, because it has grown very resistant to most antibiotics. It does need to be aggressively treated with antibiotics and his doctors should know which are the most effective. However, mortality rates still remain very high.
