2 Topics FoundThese dont seem to work can you take every 8hrs instead of 12hrs ## Hi Mike, It sounds to me like the dosage may not be strong enough for you; but to answer your question, the usual adult dose for pain is 5 to 30 mg every 3 to 4 hours as needed (when taking it Orally, Sublingual, or Buccal). The dosing indications for MS Contin (Morphine Oral) also state that "extended-release" tablet dosages range from 10 mg to 600 mg daily, given in equally divided doses every 8 to 12 hours or given as one dose every 24 hours. So depending on whether or not your tablets are extended-release, you should have some flexibility with the hours. It is strictly regulated by the REMS ACCESS program and can only be prescribed by physicians who complete the required training and test.
